Shit yeah :) i'm in, my Tein is already on its way to queensland. Just need to save for tyres and a service.

hehehe...not just yet Snowie :) I figure I'll finish this championship in the class I started in and maybe upgrade before next year.

I noticed the numbers were really down last round...not just in std class but across the board......COME ON PEOPLES - GET YOUR BALLS OUTTA YOUR MUMS HANDBAG AND JOIN TEAM WANG ON THE TRACK B)

Does anyone know where i can get a decent set of 245/17 and which brand to get?

I'm not after S03 or anything fancy like that, any ideas? Something that last me for our last two rounds, no stickie needed as i dont' want to carry too much speed into conner either, can't afford an engine rebuild yet.

Thanks

Hey andrew have you guys got a championship ladder like the rex guys? , it would be good to see what times your cars are doing . Ive got the VL commo thats at most of the events and during the last winton their was a TX5 that was part of the group i was in which i noticed was running in the 41's . Is that for real ? cause my dad owns one of these and this thing must be a weapon in a straight line or the driver is very very gifted.

adam

LOL...the TX5 driver had his transponder in a certain members GTR. I think he normally is in the low 1:50s approx

As for championship, yeh we have one going but we are still needing to work on numbers...to get an idea of the lap times see here

Bec just pointed out this is on a Sunday...anyone up for the Friday - Practice day, Sat-Skiing, Sunday-Sprint?????

And West, Falkenb 451 or the street pattern Azeni arent too bad a tyre and reasonably priced :)

But word of warning, i discovered early on in the piece that near new road tyres dont liek track work purely because of the trad depth and the tyre blocks getting warm and walkign around. So if your current road rubber is legal then have a play with that then get the nice road rubber for the street.

Perhaps Ant/INASNT can give you an idea of the tyres they used this year and how they stood up :)

That is funny, I hadnt realised what was going on! :)

Bec - Thanks for the thought :D I might stick to timing, photography and accompanying mavric on his "must eat all hot dogs from the burger bar" missions.

For anyone thats interested in the current club championship standing - including all the results and times so far I've attached a copy.

Please keep in mind this championship is for SAU Vic members only.

West maybe try one of those 2nd hand tyre joints that a few people go to. I'm yet to try them but a mate has got some cheap tyres from there a few times, SP2's etc... I know Geoff gets his tyres from one as well. Your size tyre should be easy to get a decent set.

Where is it Ferni? Do i see you at Winton this round?

My rear tyres (Hankook Silica 104's) are stuffed and have big chunks of rubber coming off them after each track day. The fronts show evidence of alot of walking around from the near new tyres I used for my first rack day last year at sandown.

All in all a waste to use new street tyres on the track.

Don't know sorry, do a search I'm sure skylinegeoff has mentioned it a few times, along with some other people, there is more than one place... if you can't find one drop me a pm and i'll ask my mate for you.

INASNT: I have the same tyres on my car - hankooks - 4 track days and i think about 20,000ks on my hankooks and still going... no chunks missing, and still another 10,000ks on them i recon. Mustn' be driving hard enough.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
