ryno have u rolled your guards yet?

tyre might rub on the guards

Hey mate,

There was no need for me to roll my gaurds, as they're not rubbing anywhere. I went down to 225/45R17's on the front so they wouldn't rub on the upper arm, but the rears are still 235/45R17's.

Ryno

Gary, PM sent and $400 deposited

Gary, not sure if you're getting my PM's. Could you please confirm receipt of my $400 deposit ?

Thanks.

Hey SK

What is the lowest setting that the car will sit at? I.e. how many mm from guard to centre of the wheel will the car be at on the lowest setting in the lowest groove? I am trying to determine how much lower my car can go, as I am trying to avoid getting new springs and mucking up the current set up.

With the Whitleine coils and 5 extra grooves they will go to ~320 mm at the front and ~310mm at the rear. I can have extra grooves machined if you want, a few of the guys have done that for shows.

As always I have to mnetion that anything under 350 mm will give reduced handling and decreased ride comfort. The dynamic camber angles go to hell, bump steer front and rear occurs, traction is reduced, the extra drive shaft angles soak up power and there is simply not enough travel to absorb the bumps. Some people are willing to sacrifice that for looks, each to his own.

:P cheers :(

Guys, just fitted Gary's kit to my GTST & it is the best $1700 I've spent on my car. This is a very well sorted package & the results certainly exceeded my expectations, to be honest I think you could spend $4 or $5k elsewhere & not achieve the same result. Anyone considering upgrading their suspension would be mad to go past this package. Thanks again Gary!

UPDATE: This suspension reduced my PB lap time by 3.25 seconds (QR CLubman circuit)!

Check out the thread on the differences between a bad shock and a good shock for more information.

:( cheers :O

extra grooves machined ?? whats this ?

The Bilstein shocks come with a circlip retained lower spring seat. By machining extra circlip grooves it enables the exact height to be selected prior to fitting the shock/spring set. The circlip groove settings give pre determined heights that I have tested on a number of Skylines. Slight variations from vehicle to vehicle as usual.

:D cheers :nyaanyaa:

hey sydneykid,

i've tried to pm twice, have you been getting them?

george

Sorry George, the PM mailbox was full for a couple of hours. Lots of guys with questions and needing help. Maybe give it another go, I have cleared some space during the day today.

hey sk,

i got my kit today, I plan to install it soom, just wondering if you still have some of the bump stop pics which were up in the topic alittle while ago.

Just need to know where to trim them.

Thanks

George

Hi George, until Prank fixes the Gallery bugs, the best I can do is email them to you. Just PM me your email address.

:) cheers :D

Gary, you've been offering this great package for almost a year now but I just wanted to check if it will still be going in approx. 2 months when some money comes back to me?

Keen as mustard! Cheers

Yep, from memory it started in September. We stopped for a month or so when Bilstein ran out in December/January. Then Bilstein Germany sent over some via airfreight, so we could restart it again. I have recently closed the R32GTR Group Buy as there are no R32GTR front Bilsteins left until the next production run.

I know you are asking when the R32GTST Bilsteins will run out, the answer is I have no idea. Sometimes Bilstein sell 1 set a week, but the R32GTR's sold 10 sets in 2 weeks. Hence all goooooone.

My suggestion would be (same as a few guys have done) put down a $400 deposit to secure the Bilsteins, then pay the rest when you have it.

:P cheers ;)

Just checked my front tires for the first time in a while and the insides of each are down to the metal strips :\!. Looking at them its asif the tires dont sit straight down instead they angle out. Whats worn? I presume a full kit will fix this?

    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
