As the title states i am trying to work out where in the country is the best place to buy a RB26 from a 33GTR. Ultimately i would like to get the 33GTR half cut, minus panles and brakes so i can remove the engine myself (read:carefully) at my workshop.

I am not looking for the cheapest R32 engine i can find. Instead i am looking for a good quality R33 engine with around 100k kms or less on it.

Everyones input would be very much appreciated!

i would say the easys place to find one would be japan but it takes abit of time, finding the engine then getting it on the boat and then waiting for it to come.

you could try

http://www.justjap.com

as they have halfcuts and engine for sale :)

I said in the country for a reason, its is not the easiest option for me to grow wings and fly to japan and find one and send it home.... for me anyway.

Anyone know anywhere else apart from just jap, really looking to hear from people who have actually purchased one and what there experiences were etc.

or u could just go to just jap!....

I wouldn't bother looking for a good engine, just buy any engine and rebuild it when you get it. A 100,000klm r33 engine wont be much better than your average 150,000klm r32 engine, especially if you start turning the boost up.

Build it up first and *know* that you have a good engine instead of taking a chance with a second hand one

I would reccomend Ultimate Performance Imports in Melbourne, speak to Dean.

Ultimate Performance Imports

I purchased a 33 GTR motor from Dean about 18 months ago, he told me they did a leak down on it and it was a very good, and that it was. When the motor arrived we took bearing caps off etc to check it and it was one of the cleanest motors internally my workshop had seeen. So much so it made 340 kw atw without a hitch and is still a very healthy engine. Would not hesisite to purchase another engine from them.

thats EXACTLY the truth duncan and i have recently had to rebuild my "low km" rb26 which is f**ked a piston ring, so i would buy a cheap as shit motor and rebuild it to stock even, atleast u know its fresh :D

100 000km is alot for a rb26, my workshop said anything around and over that many km's and they dont last with more boost etc

good luck

Brad

seb has a r33 engine in the norther beaches only removed to be replaced by a tomie crate engine

pm me if you want his number

Thanks guys, exactly what i was looking for. Duncan hadnt considered that opttion thanks for pointing it out!

I have to rush out now, i will get back to this when i have time in the next few days.

Mick

You can do that but one day if you are called for a Full EPA you will not pass as the engine is older than the car. Guess thats the only downfall but hey, how often are you called for a full EPA? lol

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
