Gday,

I have r32 type M gtst brakes on my cefiro with the associated 5 stud conversion.

When I drive slowly every rotation there's a squeek as if the pad is touching the rotor. I've been told this is because it's warped (funnily it happened shortly after machining).

Some r32 GTR rotors have come up and I'm wondering if they will be a straight swap. They're probably bigger but if they will swap in that's fine.

If not what would have to be done to get them in? Get r32 GTR calipers too or is it more involved than that?

Cheers!!

they are quite a bit thicker. off the top of my head it's 32mm vs 28mm. you could maybe just use them with some pads that are 2mm worn (each pad). i guess that would work. only one way to find out mate :P

It's only the thickness?

Well it's come from a GTR so I can't imagine it having 32mm left .. I just want my freakin brakes to stop SQUEEKING when I'm rolling. It's damn annoying and makes my car sound like a piece of shit.

ok but minimum thickness still applies which on a GTR rotor is 30mm (or maybe 29mm?). so it will need to be somewhere near 31mm to be worthwhile using at all.

dare i ask why not just buy some GTST rotors??

thanks for that yogi. seems i have been talking out my arse again...oops.

in that case CC they won't just bolt on mate. again i am still wondering why you don't just buy some GTST rotors? will make things nice and simple.

Thanks very very much yogi and Richard.

I only asked because they came up from Morgs - who happens to live near me and I've talked to before so.. yeah it was only an opportunism thing.

Thanks again guys.. Looks like I'll have to sort something else out

i've upgraded my r32 gtst to gtr rotors and calipers and they fit under a r33 16inch rim. It was a simply bolt up....no stuffin around.

if you want to keep your calipers with GTR rotors you will need an adapter plate. Roy did something similar but used 324mm rotors.

just spend another $385 and get yourself some calipers from your local wrecker. I used just jap.

cheers

George

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
