I've sent an email to the dealer and his reply was:

"The comes with RWC, GST, 1 year warranty, 1 year reg, complianced and

fully detailed. The car is plus stamp duty which you will pay even when

you buy privetly.

This car is in excellent condition and we have 3 more in stock, 1 grey

and another in black.

We hope you can come in to take a look as you will be happy with the

condition and range we have here"

So what do you guys rekon???

I've read the sticky subject on buying a Skyline etc and found them very helpful!!! Any commonents or tips welcome...

thats the same as my car cept different color and mines done 60,000kms instead. easiest way is to go look at it yourself first and see if you can spot anything visable that looks dodgy e.g see if the bonnet lines up and things like that, if it doesnt it could have been accident repaired etc.

also since you said your new to the skyline scene you might not no mass amounts of information about them true? then you might want to get it checked out somewhere where they can tell you every little detail about the car ( like an racv inspection place ) before you buy it.

good luck :)

a couple of points i'd consider before purchasing-

have you driven any other r33's? if not definately drive at least two other cars before purchasing to get a feel for what a good/bad example is like.

check out as many different ads for similar spec cars as you can, including private to see how much the car is worth. never believe that what the dealer is asking is really market value.

do you definately want an auto? if you're unsure then don't get one, you'll regret it later.

where are you located? if possible have someone who knows skylines take an impartial look at the car for you, don't rely on an racv report. although they are good at finding obvious faults, they don't necessarily mean you will have no problems with the car.

don't believe the km's. if there are any recent service records that is a big positive, but it's generally pretty rare.

parts are no problem at all. almost anything can be ordered thru nissan dealerships, servicing parts ie. filters plugs pads etc are easy to find at most big auto shops like repco. there are also heaps of wreckers with r33 parts around.

hope i havn't been too negative here, but i remember how eager i was to get my first skyline and ended up ignoring a lot of the good advice i was given.

sorry bout the massive post, all the best mate!

I went to that car yard (unnamed) a little while a back and the place didnt instill confidence in me. The guy who i approached new nothing about skylines and the whole car yard is literally full of em. Also on each description there was a different name as the importer. Go check it out and be wary. Could be a good deal ,i might have got the work experience kid or somthing. :)

Thanx for the feedback guys....constructive critisism is always good! Yeah i'd rather an automatic as im sick of a manual...already got two other cars.

The dealer this is from is SEI Motors (South Eastern Importers) Melbourne...Yeah i wasnt too sure on the Km's either as it does seem a bit low.

thommo,

Are you from CCC??? Im VR_STEALTH...

Knew i recognised that place. Thats where i got my car from in 2003. When you go over there make sure you speak with Bill and not John. When they sold me my car after i placed the deposit they found out it had a whole heap of aftermarket parts. The mechanic told me that the owner of the yard wanted to take them off and swap them for stock parts. Luckily the mechanic there is a good guy and refused to take them off, mind you it had things such a HKS turbo, cooler and all this other stuff.

Goos thing for me is that they didnt know the extent of the mods and i got a 250rwkw car for pretty much the price for a stock series 2 in 2003 :D

I had a look at the quality of cars they have, let me tell you they arent very good. The only worthwhile cars that were for sale when i was purchasing my car, was my car (Only series 2 on the lot) and a 97 Series 3 R33 GT-R. Make sure you get a RACV check on it and make them pay for it like i did :)

My car was imported through SEI a few years ago, its an alright place, not too dodgy.

Should see the 2 massive rotweilers the guy keeps in the office. Scary...

Make sure the timing belt has been changed, it looks like it has the sticker saying it has. (silver on cam cover) It should have the km's when it was changed written on it.

If it hasnt been done you'll be looking at a $500 service straight up.

I'd be very sus about the Km's done as well; I brought the exact same car in 2002 with 82 000 on the clock which I thought was pretty spot on if you factor in about 10 000Km's done per year. If it's in excellent condition though it doesn't really matter too much what it says on the clock in my opinion.

true. and parts are hellz easy to find for R33's spose thats one advantage of there being so many aroudn now. mines also a S1, S2's only have small features as opposed to S1's ( like body kit, airbag etc ) correct?

    • Next, remove the upper and lower radiator hoses, both are held with a spring clamp. While you are under there, tackle the Auto Trans cooler lines.  Again both are held on with spring clamps, and as mentioned above you should cap them on the radiator side with an 8mm cap, and on the car side loop them with a length of 8mm pipe - this will stop you losing a dangerous amount of AT fluid during the rest of the job If you've been meaning to add a sender for AT trans temp, this is a great time to do it; put a sender fitting into the passenger side line as that is the inlet to the cooler/radiator.
    • Next you need to remove the intake duct (as with pretty much every job on these cars), it is a series of clips you gently remove with a flat bladed screwdriver. They do get brittle with time and can break, and I have not found a decent quality aftermarket one that fits (they are all too soft or flimsy and don't last either) but the nissan ones are a couple of bucks each (ouch).  Once the clips are off (either 8 or 10, I didn't check) you lift the intake duct out and will see the reservoirs Undo the line into the radiator side cap (some bent needle nosed piers are awesome for spring clamps) and then remove the 4x 10m nuts that hold both in place.  I didn't get these pics, but remove the line under the radiator reservoir (spring clamp again) then remove that reservoir. Then you can get at the intake reservoir, same thing, spring clamp underneath then remove it. BTW This is a great time to put in a larger (+70%) combined reservoir that AMS makes..... https://www.amsperformance.com/product/q50-q60-red-alpha-coolant-expansion-tank/ They also make an Infiniti branded and part# version if that is your thing
    • To drain the Intake Heat Exchanger, there is a crappy drain plug in front of the driver's side front tyre: You should use the largest headed phillips screwdriver you had, and in my case I needed vice grips on the hose above as the plug was tight (tighter than it needed to be, since it has an o-ring seal).  After you have a tray down and open the drain, open the intake heat exchanger reservoir cap (drivers side one) and you should get a couple of litres of coolant To get to the radiator, you need to remove the plastic engine undertray. It is held on with a series of 10mm headed bolts and some clips. For the radiator, there is another type of crappy drain (kind of like a plastic banjo bolt) and you should attach a length of hose to direct the stream of coolant per this pic (otherwise the coolant hits the rad support and goes everywhere). The drain is on the rear of the radiator on the driver's side and a bit hard to find. Put a big tray or bucket down (5l won't be enough) and slowly unscrew the fitting by hand. You only want to remove it far enough for coolant to flow, it you unscrew it right out the whole fitting and direction pipe will come off and you will get a coolant bath (yum!). Undo the radiator reservoir cap and it should empty about 8l
    • So, this shouldn't be such a mission, but there were a few tricks so I thought I'd post up a DIY for it. This was on a Q50 Red Sport but I doubt any other V37 model is very different (maybe just less steps for the intake heat exchanger hoses) I pulled the radiator out to flush it because the car was running hot at the track, but obviously the same steps apply for changing a radiator for any reason including an upgrade. If you are removing the radiator, you of course need to drain and refill, so have 5+ litres of blue coolant ready. You also need to drain the intake heat exchanger to remove the radiator so you will need a couple of litres for that as well. You will also need something to deal with the auto transmission lines, I used 2x 8mm rubber caps on the radiator side, and a short length of 8mm pipe on the car side.....unless you can block these lines quickly you will loose AT fluid and it may be enough to hurt the transmission if you don't refill it. 2 other tools that really help dealing with coolant lines and spring clamps are Bent Needle Nose pliers Hose pliers Between them they will reduce the frustration (and injury) potential by about 1000% Other than that....lets go... "First, jack up your car". Yes really, and put it safely on stands. If you are not confident doing that you need to give this job to a mechanic
    • If the forester is anything like our old 2007 GTB Liberty, I could near on run ling Long's and "rate them", as no matter what, it just hung to the road, even when abusing it in a hard launch in the wet, or throwing it at corners.
