There's just too much theft going on in Sydney and probably the rest of Australia. Ive just read DON91E's thread on the theft of his 328i BMW, also i have just heard about the theft of a GTR and BMW in the one incident earlier this morning.... What the hell is going on??

Two stories for you:

1) a good mate of mine had his very special R32 GTST stolen from his work roughly 2mths ago - it has completely disappeared without a trace.

2) another close friend of mine and her b/f who was a passenger at the time were carjacked(!) at gunpoint(!!!!!) for her sh#tbox 1980s Corolla outside Westmead Hospital a month ago. Carjacking is one thing but with guns??? At a hospital??? Come the f#ck on??

The world has gone completely nuts - who the hell are we letting into the country??

Whoever does this crap, most probably were born and bred here.

The laws don't deter these people. Australia is a great place to sell drugs, raught the system (the polies do it themselves) and other general crime.

If your poor and you steal to feed your family, then I can sympathise. But lets face it, in Australia no ones's poor.

So, if it was up to me, I'd make the penalty very severe.

I'm moving back to Sydney and my premium is going up just over $1000. Not happy.

oz.

My BF's car was stolen last night :D

there are too many ppl out there without ANY sense of right or wrong.

An unbelievable story, but i heard yesterday that someone here in Canberra was packing up his car to evacuate from the fires....and someone stole it. It was a Mazda 626, and probably only contained sentimental stuff that he wanted to take with him....and some low-life **** stole it from his driveway.

Well... that sort of stuff don't happen in melbourne much but it sounds bad up there. Its been a while since i've heard of anybody I knows car been stolen. Lowest crime rate per head of population. Move down here and problems solved :P

thats perth man ur in the wrong state still hehe

and Shell thats low stealing the car while the guy was preparing to evacuate.

I was listening to Nova (96.9 for Syd People) one night. They had the bloke on who complies all the crime data for NSW.

I may not be 100%, but at least 90% right in my figures here :

Your 7 times more likely to have your car stolen in Sydney then compared to NYC and London

Your 4 times more likely to have your house broken in Sydney then NYC or London

Your 2 times less likely to be effected but volient street crime in Sydney then NYC or London

And I think he said both London and NYC had downturns in Crime compared to Sydney rising.

Again, our laws and policing of them at the moment is a joke. I don't care if the offenders are white, black, arab, jewish, male, gay, or dead...the offenders must be brought to justice.

This has too stop somewhere.

Bring the troops back from the gulf and get them to fight the war at home!!!!!

And guess what, if you try and defend your self....well we all know who gets fu(ked up then don't we:mad: :P:(:D

Yeah but some countries have better ways of controlling the crime (ie. UK vs Australia).

We need to be so much more strict over here in our sentencing etc. The fact that criminals get off lightly is constantly in the newspaper, but does anything ever get done about it?

I doubt it because the more people they send to jail .. which means more money spent on keeping the prisoners in there.

And if it costs money, they won't want to do it.

Yeah too many dodgey people that have come here on fake passports or have overstayed their VISA and our authorities are too slack to track them down. They therefore cannot get legitimate jobs here so they have to steal to get their money.

And while im on the topic all these people that come here and wanna challenge our way of life F#CK YOU!!!! If you dont like the way the cookie crumbles here, get the f#ck out of our country.

All you good people that like our way of life - welcome, enjoy your stay and keep your foot to the floor.

the problem is the government is too easy on people, sentencing is pathetic and the legal system is grossly angled towards revenue raising.

race a car at the lights, 2000 in fines + court costs + storage costs + loss of license + impound cars for 3 months first time

steal a car, get off first time with community service

the police are too busy doing defects at rbts to stop car theft or investigate it.

Guest JUNpowerYo!

I admit the situation could be better, but lets count our many blessings...in my other board www.honda-tech.com someone's ride gets pinched every day...sumtimes 3 to 5!!!!! Im from melbourne so i feel good 'bout moding my car...but if i lived in sydney I would honestly feel paranoid...not trying to offend anyone, just my $.02

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
