UPDATE

All parts have finally turned up and ready for the HUGE weekend ahead of me to get the car back on the road.

SOLD PFC to Mark for his race car but bought a few little GFB's for the little ol Rb20 thumper :)

Pics will come and also progress on build

Cheers GMB

sav man - Yeah I am, but there will alway be another GTR sooner rather than latter. May just a as a nice roadie instead.

grandmasterb - I was finishing the putting up the $3000 fence at the new house. How can powercoated tube be so expensive?

I like it without the stickers, looks a bit more stealthy!

hey guys, im pretty new to the forum. i own a R33 series 1. got it freshly imported in november last year. it's currently maroon, but im just waiting on the Trial body kit to arive so i can do a full respray on it. im going for a bayside blue, maybe a bit darker. the car was stock when i bought it, and so far i have put on 17" mags, 3" mandral bent zorst, front mount, k and n filter, turbo smart boost controller, autometer bost guage and volt guage, Rockford Fosgate sound system, playstation 2, 7" screen. currently having boost problems, and when it's under boost the car runs really jerky and crap.

lol sounds bad dude but i dont know much about cars so u migth b lucky

but still sounds like a nice car where bouts u situated have i seen it a lil bit out of ridgley or probably some one else :) lol even though thats brown...

Could be any number of problems mate.

Start with the most common problems:

dirty AFM

fouled plug

crook coil/s or ignitor

boost leak (if its only under load)

blocked fuel pump or faulty fuel pump.

Start by trying to elimante a few of them first.

Im sure that someone in your area can give you a hand with it if you get stuck at all :)

GOOD LUCK

GMB

I got a nice package in the mail today :(

How much boost are you trying to run, if everything else is ok, you may be hitting the boost limitter. Don't try and run anymore than 12 psi with a "stock everything else" ( turbo, ecu, etc ). If you wan't more (everyone wan'ts more) you'll need to upgrade your ecu, then your turbo, then your fuel systm.... etc and so forth........... or you could just run gas :-)

Back in black! My Skyline is back on the road again! you couldnt wipe the grin from my face with a wild badger :P what a mission, 4 12 hr days, tell you what - I wont be doing that again in a hurry...

Still have a few teething troubles, hicas light is on (I think I know what that might be - search button you're my hero) and I have one hose which is not quite on properly (water line down the back of the engine - need a reaaaaly long set of needle nose pliers)

I am just taking it easy on the replacement engine for a few days, its hard, I saw a little boost last night on my lap around the block, the car is going "lets go" im crying "dont tempt me!"

Hope to see you all on the blacktop sometime soon! Incidently do you guys know of an good roads near hobart (other than over mt wellington and grasstree) - all while obaying speed limits and being safe of course.

Sump for ANIMAL has been ordered and hopefully make it from Japan in time for the April weekend.

Blue Beast is up 4 SALE and so is the race car.

Looking for a job at the moment so if anyone know's of something going that may suit me or just pays the big bucks then it would be much appreciated if you could let me know :(

GMB

i found out what the problem was with my engine, the circuits for the throttle posistion sensor in the ecu was stuffed, so im just saving up for a PFC.

:( DOH...

bet that took a little while to find, would of been one of the last things i would of checked as well from your first discription.

I maybe able to help you out with a price on PFC so PM and let me know!!!

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. Rb25det s1 walbro255 fuel pump nismo fpr holset hx35 turbo fmic 3" exhaust freddy intake manifold q45tb q45 maf   Re: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Fri Apr 12, 2013 5:07 am No, I didn't. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
