i was looking at these yesterday in the mag too so i'm keen to know if these are as good as they say they are cause they seem awfully cheap if they're not just a chinese copy. I looked them up on there site but couldn't find any info on them so if anyone uses one or has heard stories about em i would be keen to hear them!

Anyone seen the KKK turbos advertised for sale in the new HPI mag by Otomoto? 480hp internally gated for $895.

Is it just me or does this sound like a good deal?

KKK = Porsche. They do not mess with their turbos.

As for KKR I have no idea but it's sounds like KFC. Reminds me of Tein ie the 2nd half of Bilstein.

i was told kkk are made by borg warner

That is correct. Borg Warner have made a few acquisitions; KKK being one of them. There is a bit of company history available if you do a Google search and get onto the Borg Warner turbos page.

FWIW, most German marques to my (not extensively researched) knowledge have used KKK as OE fitment in the past. Porsche and Audi are prominent examples, having used them in both road and race/rally applications.

If anyone makes the effort to find the design/spec of these KKR units - best of luck. They may be ok, but browsing this forum shows its not plain sailing to get the optimal match for your intended application. At least someone is making an effort to fill a price gap in the market.

cheers

really?

wouldn't have thought OS giken would've sold dodgey crap! Interesting!

1, no one said they are dodgy

2, they have nothing to do with OS Giken at all. OS Giken is an aftermarket parts manufacturer in japan, OTOMOTO is a retailer in australia that retail various products. of of their products is KKR turbos.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
