Your a bludger... I just got home... Man that was a long day!

I have to work until about 2pm... then will head to the work shop for an hour or 2. Got to leave to get to Oran Park by about 4:30pm as I will be judging tomorrow night at the Driftland Masters... And then hitting the cans... much deserved this week I think!

UPDATE 23-03-06:

Well today has been a bugger... infact this whole week has been. Have really only spent about 10 to 12 solid hours on the car, and to be honest they have been interupted a fair bit... either way there is no way the new engine is going in and being run in and tuned before the 4th... maybe drop the old one back in and see where we come up.

I have about 1/4 of the whole car prepped... I will be putting a big effort in this Saturday to get it done and my phone WILL BE OFF.

R33Deviate, I spoke to a few people and Sand pblasting is a real pain in the arse... and apparently much more time consuming... and you still have to manually sand the tricky bits anyway... The biggest problem is that Sand blasting apparently causes denting that needs to be pannelbeat back out again... there is a new process using wallnut shells that is supposed to be less troublesome... but hey... I'm getting there and will probably onle spend 24 hours preping a pretty dirty car... so it is up to you.

Bring on tomorrow... just can't wait for my alarm to go off tomorrow at 4am.

Night all.

Thanks heaps Dan for the FYI on sand blasting! I have heard the same thing from my investigating, so i think the old elbow grease is the way to go.

More worried about getting the Cefiro to the track..... May... MAYBE :)

Hi Ando,

I have all but done the inside, which has taken about 15 hours. So really, apart from the sore arm... it is the eaiser way to go in my opinion.

I will be starting and hopefully finishing the outside sometime today or early tomorrow morning... should be a solid 12 hour session today, starting about midday after I finish work. And then it is Paintin time!!! :D

Dan.

Might be a bit late with this but sand blasting to abrasive but plastic bead blasting is the way to go on automotive bits or cars . I had the sleeper on my truck done years ago and it was to smooth had to rough up the surface b4 i painted it .Bit late to let you know but worth storing in the ole memory banks for future referance

Cheers Peter

No idea....

But planning to paint the car next week... finally! I had no idea how long it takes to prep a car for painting.

And then put it back together... first track shakedown will be at Oran Park on the 29th of April.

ando, on the sand blasting it would not be a good idea to sandblast stuff in the open anyway. sandblasting is usually performed inside a sealed container (your hands go in through the glove thingys like homer wears in the simpsons). if you did it in the open the sand (grit) would go farking everywhere and you dont want to be breathing it or just having it all over the garage/workshop. with this in mind it's not really practical to sandblast a whole car. plus it would just strip the paint off, it wont give you smooth panels. for that my friend you need to shape the panel by hand. using sand paper (of various grits) and body filler.

sounds like it's cominly along dan. keep at it :)

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
