Well a good weekend... lots of positives, the extra power is helping, and the set up is coming along.

Smashed the front bar to bits on Saturday during Team Drift... never mind...

Sunday saw me up agains Kelly McKinnon, It was pretty tight first battle, but unfortunatly my handbrake got stuck on in the second battle and I spun... real bugger as I certainly had a chance... guess that is being chucked in the bin this week and replaced with a proper drift hand brake...

Team drift was fun, although a big smash saw the session canned after only one run.

Can't wait for Eastern creek at the end of next month... new turbo and a whole lot more incoming... stay tuned!

Dan.

Nice one Kinks!!! Post up some pics when you get it.

Richard, end of next month... as it says in the last line of the post... but more specifically in case that was what you meant... 29th and 30th of July.

See you all then!

Oh, and thanks for getting my AFR around the right way... I hate going by memory.

The Bel Motorsports sticker is on the wrong way around to be JDMyo

they are supposed to go from the front to the back of the vehicle...

But that is unless you are like Kelly McKinnon who thinks the other way

around is more aggressive looking... Anyway, take it or leave it.

If you look at this truck in my carpark you can see the way it works

with Chinese/Katakana characters... The letters are the correct way

around but go from the front to the back of the truck.

Anyway, congratulations on the results, keep up the good work!

Well development is coming along rather well... now have 224rwkw at a low 0.9bar of boost and at around 155kms in 4th gear. we also made 712nm at 70kms in 4th, and averaged 644nm across the entire rev range!

Which probably explains why I have no 4th gear syncro left. and 3rd gear is spitting out sometimes... I knew it would break eventually... but I was hoping for a little later in the season!

I have 2 dyno graphs, but I'll scan them tomorrow, or next week.

See you all at Eastern Creek the weekend after next!

Cheers,

Dan.

lol... you guys are vultures!!!

If I buy a new box the old one is being kept as a spare, looks like we will be buying a second handy for this round, and rebuilding the old one a bit stronger... especially as we are looking for more power still too!

If I look to sell it Nathan I'll give you a bell. (pm)

Dan.

Did I show you the new Pipe work and Catch can that RoadRunner Fabrications made up for me? Very Pretty!!!

And also someone asked a while back about dyno graphs... I finally remembered to get them... and they are below.

First is Power,224RWKW @ 12psi (0.9bar). We did another run with 20psi (1.3bar) and only made 227rwkw... so it is time for a bigger huffer... BRING IT ON.

Second is torque... again same settings as above, in fact same run! Max 712NM, Min 497NM, AVERAGE across the run was 644NM

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
