  1. Ah, ok, that makes it very clear. Would you be able to tell me, does power = volume? I guess what i'm trying to say is I don't like to pump my stereo because I don't want to go deaf. If I listen to it low to medium volume, will an amp make it too loud?
  2. Right, an amp was the next thing on my list. Can someone please explain this, because I don't understand it very well. Say I have a 100 watt rms speaker. Headunits normally put out about 5-10watt rms each channel. Why do I need an amp? If I have the volume on medium on the headunit, the speaker might be getting 7 watt rms. If I want to have the speaker at the same volume, then it will still be getting the same power regardless of whether it's amplified or not isn't it? Or do I have it completely wrong?
  3. starsky, I would if I could. I'm away from my state atm. What you can do is this. Get a torch and have a look on that plastic twist cap. It says what type they are. I think it's a H3.
  4. was asked like 2 weeks ago. please search.
  5. My 'steam cleaning' took the best part of about 1 minute (literally). It involved the guy rinsing under the car and in the wheel arches with a hose. When I gave him my key, he just chucked it on top of a drum sitting out in the yard. I picked it up straight away and near slapped his bitch ass back to where he came from.... bloody rip off schemes. I've heard many stories of parts or even whole cars stolen from hobbs Next time, i just won't get it steam cleaned, and wait and see if quarantine/customs calls me. I'll just say it was cleaned and see what they say.
  6. Black forever. I have a black car. paint is mint. It's easy to keep clean when you keep the paint well maintained. After using polymer sealant on it, it protects the paint as well as keeps the dirt off. A wash is easy. All I do is move the sponge over the surface and the dirt all comes off. I dont' rub otherwise i'll scratch the paint, and it's not required anyway. Black looks the best. Even dirty black looks better than white or silver. Doesn't matter how clean or how much you wax white or sivler it just never really shines. Everyone of my future cars will be black. But keep in mind, black is the rarest. Black imports in japan even go for more money. Also, as everyone has mentioned above, poor condition black paint loooks worse than say back condition white. But then the opposite also applies - good condition white paint still looks ugly copmared to black.
  7. f**k nissan fast. Someone just check. hahaha
  8. That isn't easy, it's more work than is needed. When changing the filter on my friend's rb26, it was easy. But then again, my arms are small.
  9. Thanks for your suggestion mate. It is not a phase issue. I only have one of the 6x9s connected. Furthermore, I checked the headunit wiring before I connected the speakers. I'm stumped. Does anyone have 6x9s that they would comfortably say makes more bass than a good set of 6x5" speakers? seriously, I've bought 3 sets (2 have been returned) and I must say that every one of them had less bass than the stock paper speakers (and htey were ripped too!). JAR - If you're happy wiht the bass coming from the 6x9s that you have, then I would definitely not go with 2x12" subs. If you listen to one 12", it is absolutely massive. Personally, it's too much for me. 2 would make you totally deaf. I am very tempted to go with a 6.5" jbl bazooka box sub. It's 369 from JB Hifi. Most people probably think wtf? 6.5" is small, but if you go to JB, that thing pumps more than cheap shitty 12" subs do! I'm doing it mainly for the size and weight, because I'd like to retain as much of the already small boot as I can.
  10. 1. most cars have batteries that are really old. Why not replace it if it's 5 years old? 2. batteries are cheap. head to our group buy section and pay 140 for the sealed battery from wrxhoon and be done with it. You won't have to worry about battery again. 3. stop stressing, it's only a battery. it's only 140.
  11. IMO, and sure this will be flamed by many other forum members, I just don't agree with buyign a powerfc, paying 500 for a tune, and then having to tune it again after you get your turbo. I am still saving at the moment to collect all the parts I need and then i'm going to do them all in one hit.
  12. 2530/gtss have been recommended highly for the rb20. Naturally, the rb20 has less spooling power than the rb25, so that's why people use these smaller turbos. Based on the results obtained by other forum members, a 2530 on the rb20 wouldn't make much more than 220 rwkw as mentioned above, but it will be almost as responsive as the stock turbo. Although it will be about 10 rwkw less than you have now, it will actually feel a lot quicker, because you have more average power. That is, compared to your current setup with nothing nothing nothing, BOOM big power. If the t518 is good for 440bhp, then perhaps it is quite comparable to a GCG highflow of the rb25 turbo? the gcg highflow is apparently good up to 450bhp with the supporting mods.
  13. still interested. what's happening?
  14. It will be near impossible to remove it completely. I rented a place before with a really stuffed up driveway. Everytime I drove up the driveway, my inside wheel would spin. After about 8 months, there was a pretty thick tyre track on the ground. We tried petrol, kero, turps, everything. We tried scrubbing it with the chemicals mentioned above. We tried applying the above chemicals, then lighting them on fire. We tried using a gas cylinder as a flamer to try and burn it off. While all these made it better, it was still quick noticeable. Just paint over it and be done with it.
  15. I was stumped as to why the 6x9s didn't have anymore bass than a 6.5" coax when everyone on car audio australia said it would have decent bass. I was just trying to box it as per a suggestion off that forum. I'm gonna be returning all that stuff. looks like i'll be buying a sub. oh well, you have to try to find out.
  16. The speakers I bought today were actually put in boxes, just to see if it makes any difference. It did make more bass, but still, it was about the same as an ordinary 6.5" coaxial
  17. That's so strange!!! today, I just bought another set of jbls, and the bass is still the same. It's crap. Maybe I need to get an amp? Initially, I just thought it was the first set of pioneers, but now i'm thinking it's something else.
  18. which brand though. Car is not a skyline so there are no fitment issues.
  19. Gday fellars, i'm looking for a 6x9 with lots of bass. I understand that 6x9s only comfortably produce down to 60hz i.e. they only produce midbass, not subbass. I don't really want to go for a sub. Today, I bought a pioneer 6x9 from jbhifi. It was just a cheap one ($88) and it had less bass than stock ripped paper speakers. I was willing to spend more, but I went iwth what was recommended to me. So in everyone's experience, which 6x9s, which are available atm have decent bass?
  20. I sort of did a bit of both. I just regularly browse the forum and pick up any parts that seem suitable. My order of mods was - airfliter, full exhaust - came with the car. At this stage, it felt quite a bit quicker, but still at stock boost, it was not much different. I bought a jaycar iebc - 80 includign hand controller I think - bargain - i figured why not. My car just happened to come with nice pads and suspensions. I changed the fluid and it felt a bit better. ... I then did a larger smic for more power again. ... you get the drift. I guess it depends on what you value more. Some people do power power power only with no brakes, clutch, suspensions etc. some (e.g. me - likes both)
  21. I'd suggest you to pop the tyres. Since the wheels are spare too, keep ripping the tyres up after you pop the tyres. Get the wheel shredding and sparking as well. That'll win for sure.
  22. I used to think that it was a good idea to park 2 spaces. I've heard of at least 3 experiences from people I know that I no longer do it. Bogans (this country's inhabitants) often think it selfish of people with nice cars and become jealous and key those cars.
  23. I believe that he's not saying that it's ok because it's a small amount. he's saying that the price is way too low and it looks shonky. REgardless, ripping people off is bad ok?
  24. Oh, I didn't realise you were actually competing. I htought you just wanted a place to blow them legally. In that case, put the 19s on and smoke em hard. Start in first. Then shift into second. Then third if your car has enough power. That should give heaps of smoke. Keep smoking them hard. I've seen a video of a car doing a third gear burnout where the rubber got so molten due to the high rpm that when the metallic belt started sparking, the rubber caught on fire. That should get the crowd's attention. Keep smoking it until the tyre pops, then keep giving it some. Keep them spinning and shred the rims right down. The crowd should go absolutely wild and you'll win. Doesn't matter about the rims, afterall, they're spare right? oh, please take camera and make a movie. We wanna see
  25. I got my gf's little brother to do it. Hahaha, I couldn't get my hands anywhere near it. shhh... there are child labour laws.
