  1. Winton has got another fun day on the 25th, anyone from SAU Vic planning to go? I was considering it but didn't enjoy it that much last time, there were waaaay too many people on the track when I was there, and too many people taking me on the inside on corners. Excluding two WRX drivers who were very professional, most other drivers were not the best...
  2. VL oil filter? I assume your talking about an RB30 oil filter Z145A in Ryco terms? I believe its a 3/4 but check the Ryco website it should confirm for you...
  3. Stop there and re-read first post in this thread
  4. There was a group buy on dry cell batteries...not sure if Wrxhoon is still running it or not.
  5. So what exactly are you trying to do? Run the car in rear wheel drive sometimes? I believe you can disconnect something at the front and its not too hard. After R32's the R33 and R34 run a preload on the front diff so its always a little active and you can't just flick a switch... If you want permanent RWD don't buy a GTR.
  6. I'd personally say you may have some low quality tyres and expect too much of the car. The GTR has Dunlop LeMans tyres, and they handle great in the dry, in the wet its a different story, they're not so good anymore, my suspension alignment and camber kit is done. My suspension setup does great in dry weather, but been a front-heavy car I have lost the rear in the wet (accidentally of course) before, its very easy to correct though.
  7. Any idea what time you might be cruising tonight? Still deciding what to do tonight...
  8. Hey, Just curious about this discussion, there are 5Hz external GPS receivers around, such as: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-Solar-Bluetooth-Gps...%3A1|240%3A1318 And the: http://www8.garmin.com/products/gps16a/spec.html Although obviously they cost a bit more, would that change your mind on GPS based timers at all? Or is every 200ms not accurate enough still? Also, I haven't confirmed that phone based software would be fast enough to keep up with updates every 200ms, I'm just curious about this
  9. Motul 8100 is a good oil, I'd say changing every 5K is unnecessary but its your choice, especially if your driving 150km/day. There was a member on here called Chucky that was changing every 20K with high km/s, 10K should is ok for most people...
  10. Just to add to the twenty reasons not to buy an R34 GTR that's already been mentioned in the thread, to say it more directly, you lack the self-control, even if you can control yourself behind the wheel when you first get it: * You'll get confident * You might have a friend or two in the car and the need to "show them" how well it goes around a corner * It may be wet or dry weather, it won't matter, too much power and you'll be sideways into a pole.... I've been reading these forums for years and the number of stories I've read about both experienced and inexperienced drivers in GTR's abusing the throttle in wet/dry weather and going sideways into a pole is alarming <-- obviously that applies to any car, but GTR's are AWD so often there owners are a little more confident... Oh, that and you can't afford the repair bill on a GTR unless your rich or working full time and are dedicated to the car
  11. Brand new price is >$300 And $10 for new oil? I had no idea you could just replace that...clutch fan is easy to test anyway...once the engine is warmed up it shouldn't free spin anymore, it should be locking a little at idle...
  12. Hmmm, I have done a similar role with help from others back in Uni, but I wasn't the one doing most of the convincing. It was interesting though... So I'm not volunteering for this, just saying it *might* be of interest
  13. I don't think a Nissan clutch designed for say 220RWKW (yes I know it can take more) will survive when you get your new turbo's I'm personally using a rebuilt Nismo pre-super coppermix twin plate, its fairly nice to drive (for a twin plate). There are two clutch shops that are well known to build clutches if you want to go down that path due to the yen exchange price (japanese parts cost $$$ at the moment), NPC and Jim Berry, NPC rebuilt my clutch and did a great job for a very reasonable price. A lot of people on the forum love the Nismo SuperCopper mix twin plate, you need to search!
  14. Hey, Which site are you quoting there? Could definitely use that more detailed info to go into the oil sticky thread, the summary page is a little short of detail at the moment....could do with a detailed second post or similar...
  15. Did you have factory UV glass? If you did then it could be very hard but it looks like you don't from the pics...call some glass repairers and see how much the rear quarter glass panels cost... New windscreen (front) was $250 on my R33, at least it wasn't the rear window (with the demister)
  16. Your comparing a Silvia with a lot of power to a stock R34, it will be a lot different power wise until its modded... Just wanted to say R33 and R34 turbo's are ceramic in this case from what I know... I personally would wait for a manual rather than going down the auto conversion path, check the forums, check Carpoint, carsales, even the trading post, I'm sure you can find something similar...follow the stickies about getting the car checked out. EDIT: even check drive.com.au
  17. Child porn is wrong and I'd be happy to see it blocked, but its not feasible with current filtering technology, and those who are testing out this solution already have a few ways to work around the filters anyway. I disagree, content level filtering is *complex* they can't use a simpler content filtering software as they're too easy to work around, and anything that needs to scan every piece of data going through the ISP (or a large chunk of it) will cause a significant impact to traffic, and it will mean a lot of $$$ to be spent by your average ISP. Anyway, I'd rather not argue on here, there is plenty of information online about this system and why it will not work. paulr33, thanks for the interesting comments Oh, professional groups have leverage, just not much
  18. He works for a *company* is this a big company that you can call? Or his own business? If its his own business it might be a little more difficult, your insurance lawyer might be able to help, or you might have to seek more legal advice, if your insurance covers you against uninsured drivers (AAMI 3rd party does..) then you need the other driver to sign a form stating they did not have insurance at the time....(confirm with your insurance company)
  19. Thanks for that, sorry about the delayed reply but you already seem to have taken the credit Thanks for your help!
  20. Professional associations such as the ACS will lobby against this policy, most likely APESMA will assist, and there are various other IT professionals who think the entire scheme is a big joke. It will unfortunately take the government a while to work this out, I'd be very disappointed if it actually got beyond the trial stage.
  21. Other driving tests showed that some drivers thought the new WRX was not as good as an EVO X but then when the times were tested the new WRX was doing better! Top gear's a great show but its not the ultimate show for car comparisons, there's plenty of bias on the non-driving side of the car
  22. Under which act? According to http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/your.rights.html the police do not have a general right to search your vehicle, inspect yes, but not to rip the vehicle apart to check for something unless they have a good reason for the suspicion, eg. previous drug conviction of any kind et cetera.
  23. Lol at the first comment, I don't need 'em, I just want to confirm a rumour, the rumour was that police can search your vehicle if they believe you have illegal performance modifications, which is a very open law, I don't believe it exists but wanted to confirm. Obviously there are similar laws but that's if you have a previous drug offence or similar, or they believe you have a radar detecting device or..
  24. Hey, I'm sure I found a link ages ago, it might have been on the justice website but that website has been re-structured recently. Does anyone have a document that specifies what the hoon laws are? I understand the obvious, if your over the speed limit by 45km/h, loss of control of vehicle in some circumstances, drag racing, excessive noise or wheel spin... Just trying to confirm some rumors about the law. Regards, Gareth
