17x9 BBS LM big brake clearance
DaymoR32 replied to DaymoR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
understandable, but the only other brembo options ive seen used recently are SRT8 or evo calipers with 350mm rotors. 350mm will definitely be too big, unsure whether you can use evo calipers with smaller rotors on a skyline, on my evo 7 i had 320mm rotors that were 32mm thick. -

Thanks for the photos and info mate, very helpful! I've got the 280-324mm adapters on the way to trial the stock calipers first. main reason being i cant seem to find any f40 calipers for sale when searching that term. i will keep my eye out though for any that pop up. -

DaymoR32 replied to DaymoR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
did a bit more googling and found these.... im actually pretty tempted to purchase the adapters first, bolt them up and see if the calipers clear. http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/Parts-Shop/brake-calliper-adapters-(front)---32,-33-gtst-3287.aspx or these, https://au.gktech.com/products/brakes/brake-adapters/z32-r32-s14-s15-caliper-bracket-to-suit-324mm-r33-gtr-rotor-1 Its probably the cheapest way of trialling bigger brakes as i can use my current caliper with this kit - also dont have to purchase rotors or anything until i know they fit. -

Done a little bit of googling trying to figure out what vehicles the f40 caliper came on and it’s saying ford fpv vehicles. So am I looking for calipers off a falcon? (I’m a Pom so I know absolutely nothing about fords or holdens...so please excuse my ignorance) -

I believe i actually have some r32 gtr front calipers that came with a shell i bought a few years ago - i'll try one on the car tonight (if i can find them). If they do fit, wheres the best place to get a rebuild kit from these days? do i go straight to nissan for them? -
17x9 BBS LM big brake clearance
DaymoR32 replied to DaymoR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I think there is roughly 20mm from the outside edge of the caliper to the nuts on the back of the wheel and maybe 5-6mm clearance from front of caliper to rear of spoke. Think I’ll get some proper measurements this week and see what I’m faced with. Will also see if there are any 32gtr calipers for sale too. -

17x9 BBS LM big brake clearance
DaymoR32 posted a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Noticed my front brake rotors on my 32 could do with replacing in the very near future, they are the 280mm so they are stock 32 GTST brakes. Car currently has 365kW and I’m looking at potentially doing a few track days in the very near future so would like to possibly increase the size of the brakes. The issue I have is my current wheel setup, 17x9 ET23 BBS LM’s. They aren’t the best wheel for big brakes I know however I’m just wondering if anyone has had these wheels with a larger than 280mm rotors. Any suggestions for suitable front brake upgrades? R32 GTR/350z/Evo? Would a decent disc and pad combo be enough using the stock 280mm brakes? I would love to keep the wheels ideally though. have also tried searching and can’t find much on SAU. also attached some poor photos showing current brake clearance. -

Ryno's R32... Over A Decade And Counting
DaymoR32 replied to Ryno's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
good to know, does it need loads of funky adapters to connect to amps and such? or is it just like a normal headunit at the back? -

Been looking at that headunit myself! was going to mount in the same configuration you have there but was worried it may hit the dash! glad to see it fits! -

Yep i understand where you are coming from, and i understand the amount of time spent designing, printing, revising design, reprinting etc that it would have taken. Im a design engineer by trade so i also agree people shouldnt work for free. on the flipside though, you were part of the development process and he can still technically sell heaps more. He now has the base design that clicks into the dash and can reconfigure it for 3 x 52mm gauges or any other combo and you've paid for all that essentially. Not knocking you for doing it, just saying that i feel you've been charged a bit too much mate thats all. -
Daymo's Back! - R32 RB25DET NEO

Ooo looks nasty! I raised my car a bit so I could get on my own driveway. My servo is pretty steep too and I clear that one....just! -

It’s not even $10 worth of material, I’m assuming it’s printed in ABS? Even if it was nylon it would be about $50 at most and that’s Australian dollars. I’ll start designing one. Check my build thread I just designed and installed a dash in my car... and that was about $8 of material -
Daymo's Back! - R32 RB25DET NEO
DaymoR32 replied to DaymoR32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Been a little while since i updated this thread. Nothing huge has happened but i'll go ahead anyway. Managed to source some OEM indicators so that i could get rid of the clear ones that had been painted orange. Then gave the coilpack cover a trim as it fouled on the wiring and installed it back on the engine Also spent a bit of time this weekend designing and 3d printing a new dash cluster for the car. the one that was in there was just a piece of ABS sheet. i tried adding a bit of an OEM flare and recess the guages properly into the dash rather than having them proud. ive moved the guages closer to the cluster so that its easier to read them when both hands are on the wheel. Pretty happy with how it turned out. may revise the design a bit when i next get some free time! -

500 dollars US for that? are you actually kidding? I know what im doing this weekend, plus when i design it i'll make sure it covers the indentation in the dash around the outside of it. -
Get an evo 9. simples.
-
This ^^^^^ Having previously owned an RB20DET with a few mods and now having a RB25DET NEO the difference lower down in the rev range is massivley noticeable
-
Id personally go with an evo 9 (ive owned a 7 before). i'd be terrified driving a GTR around as a daily knowing how much they go for, plus you'd never really be able to leave it anywhere without the fear of it being stolen. That also applied to evo's too - they get stolen all the time in cities!
-
i.e. Trackdays? roll racing? hill climbs? or is it purely going to be a street car thats daily driven?
