  1. I've seen 2 post lifts that usually have something like this, not an adapter. Most people don't use adapters from what I've seen (non skylines I guess), would that image below be suitable in your opinion? Otherwise I might have to see an adapter that I can buy. Something like this seems like a good option? https://classiclift.com.au/product/square-shape-rubber-pad-part201106/
  2. A potentially stupid question but if I'm using a hoist I assume for skylines it's fine to put the hoist arms (from a 2 post lift) under the jacking point sills yeah? I looked at some google images but people tend to put it on the edge of the chassis rail and put a block of wood, which is interesting, considering the sills seem to be a popular spot.
  3. First time, he tightened the wrong belt. He didn't check all the belts from memory just checked one and tightened it and still had the same problem. Second time, he fixed "most" of the issue, he tightened the right belt but not enough it seems, it would only squeal for half a second maybe, then I went the third time and he said it was all good and he didn't want to tightened it anymore to not overtighten it. Then it started getting worse again and it went back to squealing for around 5- 10 seconds or so. 4th time I went to a new mechanic who told me that my last mechanic didn't tighten it enough and he fixed it and I haven't had the problem since.
  4. I'm looking to change the led on my cluster, does anyone know why the fuel gauge would stop working? I don't want to run into this issue and mess it up, I guess it's worth unplugging the battery? I wonder if the bulb can be changed without unplugging any of the cables.
  5. I heard rb25 neo engines use a rb26 crank, is this true? I can't find any info on it and the part numbers are different. Makes me wonder for the neo engine since there are less parts, what do you do if the crank is completely stuffed.
  6. Sorry mate I didn't see this. but issue is fixed, went to the local mechanic and turns out my regular mechanic that I visited multiple times didn't tighten the alternator enough. I went to double check and the tension now seems good, not overtight. Not sure how my mechanic missed that and said that it seemed all good to him lol.
  7. Not even possible, unless you have another person but to be honest I thought doing it at the same time was the right idea because it was an even distribution haha
  8. That's what I thought if you wanted the car up high when removing the gearbox for example, so I guess 2 trolley jacks would come in handy to make it easier.
  9. i see what you're saying. My line of thought was, the more you jack it up, the more force is in one area causing it to crush that area more. But now thinking about it again it might not make sense because the weight will shift depending on how the car is lifted.
  10. It might have been someone else on the forum, can't remember 100% But I could have sworn that it was also mentioned on this forum that those sills aren't designed to lift and support the car and it's only for the scissor jack. I'll need to re-check.
  11. Yep I'm referring to the jacking point under the sill (the re-reinforced part I guess) What I meant was, from memory I think it was @Duncan that mentioned that sometimes the jacking point under the sill can bend even if you use the adapter, but correct me if I'm wrong on this. In the future i'll likely just hire a hoist and put the hoist arms under the jacking point sill, to avoid any potential problems.
  12. Hey mate, may I ask what size are the bulbs in the triple pod gauge on the r34 gtt, are they t3 with a 7mm base like on a r34 GTR mfd?
  13. I was thinking of getting that, or at the very least jack it up by the crossmember and put jackstands there with the adapters, but apprently they can still bend (mine are already lol)
  14. Ah ok thanks man, I'll take a look at the lower control arm and see where that point is. Hopefully don't find place it on the wrong thing haha.
  15. Hey mate, what are those pivot points that you are referring to? I can't find anything about it on the net, you got any photos? Need to know so when I put jack stands on the front and rear of my r34.
  16. Ah ok. yeah it was rapidly changing revs with the clutch I think. Only happens for an instant.
  17. I forgot to mention if I'm operating the clutch in a weird way (like messing up the foot movement) I can hear the squeal
  18. From memory you have an r33? Are you able to adjust the position of the alternator using the 3 bolts on it to change the alignment of the pulley between the alternator and water pump?
  19. Hmm, never heard of that but guess I could give them a go, seems like people say whatever you put on the belt it will ruin it, like soap, wd-40, grease, etc. When you say "sheaves" are you referring to the groove part of the belt? I wonder if it's worth getting new belts entirely.
  20. So for my r34 I had my mechanic change my fan belts and the old ones that I had (only had it for a short time) never squealed on startup, ever since I put new ones on they would squeal when it's cold and if I started the car when it's warm outside then it wouldn't sequel. I ended up taking my car back 3 times to have the fan belt adjusted and I checked the tension myself and seems correct. Goes to 90 degrees and can't go much further. I also had a new water pump installed. Do note that, when my belt got adjusted the third time, it only squealed for half a second and went away and that was fine, but now it's back in full swing going for at least 5-10 seconds then goes away. I sprayed a bit of water on it and I think it was still sounding. Sounds like it's definitely coming from the alternator belt, but all 3 have been changed. Is it possible to change the alignment on the alternator? ( don't know if it's just me or if it looks a little off From what I can tell it's just in one set position. I'm really tempted to get some SCA anti sequel spray from supercheap to shut it up for a while. I just don't want to keep revisiting my mechanic with the same problem.
  21. Yup, it's nice to be able to press on the gas and not almost spin out every time lol.
  22. I got new tyres and from what I can tell so far day and night difference!
  23. Not intentionally, but it has rained during the day and I had to drive back home and it has been pissing down a few times. The amount of times my back end started kicking out just from taking off from a traffic light is a bit scary lol.
