Car wriggling with big braking

Still got the HICAS? Tried adding a bit of rear toe in? Neg camber on the rear? I have a few others, but these are where I would start -
Reliable HP limit for GTS-T boxes
Sydneykid replied to JustenGT4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
All joking asside, when you say "seen a few 3rd gears blown out of ND4SPD's boxes", what do you mean exactly? We strip the teeth right off 4th gear, starts with torque loading on one or 2 teeth and then chews its way through the rest. I have never seen a gear "out" of the box, just a bunch of mush in the bottom. -
You can't say coil overs are this and spring/shock combo is that. I can use a Bilstein or a Koni shock in a coil over set up and it would be the same as a Bilstien or Koni used in a spring/shock combo. The only difference is they will be height adjustable in a coil over setup. The ride and/or handling won't be any different unless the spring and shock rates are different. So the decision as to whether you go coil over or not purely depends on whether or not you want to be able to adjust the height. If you want to adjust the height of the car up and down then go coil overs, if not save your money or spend it on better quality shocks. Hope that helps

Reliable HP limit for GTS-T boxes
Sydneykid replied to JustenGT4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Oh dear, you really left your self open for this one.... Gear failure is the sign of excessive torque loading, but you had synchro failure. Any data logging analysis will tell you that is unsympathetic gear change technique. :thumbdwn: You just gotta cut out those flat changes, it's not a dog box -
32 GTSt PFC owners please help!!!
Sydneykid replied to Chris32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Chris, I am in Perth for 2 weeks so I can't just pop into the workshop and check the numbers for you. But both myself and Targa Tom are using Datalogit with our R32 GTST PFC's. I sent my PFC to Datalogit for 2 weeks last year and they used mine to write/check the software. Tell them to send you the same versions as they sent us. Hope that helps -
Reliable HP limit for GTS-T boxes
Sydneykid replied to JustenGT4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
R33 GTST (RB25DET) gearbox is the same internally as an R32/33 GTR gearbox. We are up to 725 bhp (460 rwkw) without any problems, after having run 650 bhp for 12 months on the same gearbox. -
Hi Dan, what does "with only the problem RPM points retarded" mean?

Hi Gary, was that differences to a GTR exhaust or a GTST exhaust?

Hi Guys, having finished with the DOTARS bureaucracy, I am now dealing with the effen RTA bureaucrats. It's all my fault, I made a big mistake, I paid for my greenslip on line  Me = "It is good enough for renewing, so it must be good enough for first time rego?". RTA = "Didn't you know that when registering a car for the first time you have to have the original of the greenslip with you". :bs!: Me = "Well the NRMA let me do my greenslip on line and one of their questions is "is this a first time rego?". I have the screen printed receipt with the policy number and the receipt number and the vin number of vehicle". RTA= "No, the receipt number from the NRMA and the policy number aren't good enough." "There are other numbers on the :worship:ORIGINAL greenslip that we need." Me= "I have the NRMA on my mobile now, what numbers do you want?" :Pimp2: RTA = "listen, I told you, we need the original of the greenslip." Me ="Why?" :headspin: RTA = "That's the system" :Bang: So now I have to wait until the original greenslip is posted out to me by the NRMA.

1 = Start from behind, never alongside 2 = Hold it against the handbrake 3 = Take up the clutch till it bites a little 4 = Idle up to 2,000 rpm 5 = Roll off the clutch slowly and add accelerator at the same time 6 = Minimal wheelspin by throtttle control 7 = Close up to the rear in first 8 = Change into second at 7,000 rpm 9 = Pull out and go past 10 = Make sure to sound horn and wave bye bye as you speed past  The object is maximum embarrasment, do it once, laugh about it afterwards and he won't race you again. Offer to do it once more if the fool persists, but tell him you will give him a bigger head start this time as he needs all the help he can get.

Bosch 044 pump is 330 litres per hour and supports 730 bhp at 73.5 PSI (that's ~500 rwkw) Bosch 040 pump is 235 litres per hour and supports 520 bhp at 73.5 PSI (that's ~340 rwkw) Standard GTR pump is 190 litres per hour and supports 420 bhp at standard pressure (that's ~265 rwkw) Standard GTST pump is 135 litres per hour and supports 300 bhp at standard pressure (that's ~175 rwkw) Hope that helps

The question here is what is "standard", if the vehicle was complied with the POD then that is "standard" and the factory equipment is "non standard".
-
I haven't actually ever tried that, it would probably fit. But we have had a few of the standard intakes get sucked in. So if the engines power makes it necessary to use a Q45 AFM, that might be more of a problem than stretching the rubber
-
Is it a ball bearing, water cooled hi flow or a plain bearing, oil cooled hi flow?
-
Hi Penfold, the rubber pipes from the turbos will stretch over the 80 mm, just be careful and use some lubricant. The best way to fit airfilters is to buy a pair of 80mm PODs, since that is RB20/25 size, they are easy to get. Then sell the 65 mm ones and get some of your money back. The plugs are different so make sure you get the 80 mm AFM's with plugs. I wire the 80mm AFM's connectors in parralel with the standard 65 mm AFM's connectors, as it is easy to swap back to the 65mm AFM's if you have any problems. Hope that helps:cheers:

I don't think this guy likes you very much Steve. :headspin: PS; I really would like to see a picture of the offending manifold, I have heard of this sort of stuff but (like the Yeti) never actually seen it.

Yep, plus a bit of car enthusiast bashing thrown in for good measure

A bit of RB30 data to start with... Bore = 86 mm Stroke = 85 mm Rod length = 152.5 mm Rod stroke ratio = 1.793 In order to get to 3,208 cc's you would need 92 mm stroke with 86 mm bore. That's 3mm shorter rods so the rod stroke ratio would be 1.625. Because of the increased angles, the shorter conrods have to be stronger to handle the side loadings. This means extra weight and more stress on the piston skirts and bores. You have to buy a custom crank (~$4K) and a set of custom conrods (~$3K), plus a set of forged pistons ($2K). My suggestion (and what we do) is to go for a larger bore, 87.5 mm with the standard stroke. This gives you 3,068 cc's for around half the cost. We rev them to 8,500 rpm with 900 bhp capability. That's good horsepower per dollar.

Up to ~200 rwkw there is nothing wrong with the standard R32 ecu, it's easily real time tunable. I would always prefer to use an AFM driven ECU, much more accurate than a MAP sensor driven ECU.
-
No problems, pretty standard parts list for small block. Titanium valves mean it doesn't do many k's though. I still like the Coke Bottle Camaros, timeless

I asked when I got my quote, it was ~$300 cheaper outside Sydney, Melbourne Brisbane etc.

why is my r32 different

GTR rear uprights are alloy and lighter than GTS. -
Hmm, he broke quite a few "rules"... 1. They are not allowed to ake a photo of your car unless you agree to it, in writing. Did you? 2. The pictures are available to you via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). 3. If you have anything different on the second defecting (say change the colour of the POD) it's not a repeat offence =no court. Defence is "your Worship, I though red POD's were illegal, but blue ones were legal." 4. The vehicle complied with DOTARS regulations (ie; it was like that when it was legally complied) and NSW is a signatory to them (like all states) they have no right to overule a Commonwealth Act. I would suggest fighting the first defecting every time on these grounds. 5. POD's aren't illegal, for example in a box they are totally unquestionable. This POD issue is currently being "tested" in the courts as there are vehicles that have exposed filters standard. In fact all filters are "exposed", otherwise the air couldn't get in. 6. Noisy exhausts get caught under the noise polution act, this is not the same issue as the POD. Almost impossible to win on that one. The best way is to refuse to rev the engine at the defect site, the correct words are "my mechanic has advised me that free reving an engine is not god for it. So I will not do it, if you wish to (Mr Inspector) then any engine damage is your responsibility". Watch how fast they back away. They can't defect something if they have no evidence. Bad luck on the "same guy" :thumbdwn:
