  1. Hey guys, I need to replace some Injector O'Rings and seals for the fuel rails after they perished in coolant.. and looking to replace some heater hoses while the head's off.. got a quote from Nissan but even trade price is still a bit ridiculous really. Problem with the heater hoses is they are moulded and so even Pirtek don't have anything suitable. There has got to be another company that makes OEM replacements for these, at the very least the O rings and insulators/seals. Where do you tradies get your parts from?? Even the crankshaft sprocket is $90 from Nissan... I'll try a bearing place like CBC but if you can point me in a better direction that would be great. I'm in Epping VIC so somewhere with a location Northside would be preferred. Cheers guys! Kaz
  2. hey all.. this is in ref to a CA18DET but its only really general info I need. ok we're at the point of removing the crankshaft sprocket & backing plate to replace a seal.. as seen here tho it's not my engine.. Using a screwdriver, wd40 etc and trying to lever it off but it's just NOT coming off & Mic's about to pop a vein or something.. rusted on perhaps? I don't know.. Need ideas (yes it's lined up with the notch thingy/tooth in the middle) [oil seals are sorted] Any advice/ideas appreciated. Was hoping to put the head back on today Thanks guys!! Kaz
  3. ooh Koko at Crown is good.. expensive tho.. Teppanyaki was great and he was definately a Jap chef.. don't know about the rest of the staff.. not cheap tho but it's in the Entertainment Book so we save a bit of money at least. Matsumoto is good, very very good service there, not the cheapest but cheaper than Koko.. its up the mid-north end of lygon st 5min drive from the italian area. On King st there's Tori Matsu, they have all you can eat dinner for about $25.. you get a bbq at the table with a plate of marinated meats/fish etc to cook yourself. You have 1.5hrs limit and you'll need to book, we've been turned away before. They have a normal menu as well, food is pretty good, but it's been getting busier lately. Anyway you'll find that many Jap dishes that are also served in Japan aren't even traditional japanese and were in fact Western/Portugese/Chinese etc inspired. So no matter how 'Japanese' the restaurant is, chances are they still serve imported dishes eg California rolls, noodles, gyoza, curry, tempura and even teppanyaki. But in saying that I'm not sure what they serve in Japan so I'm not sure what you're expecting exactly.. You can find a list of restaurants here: http://www.japaneselifestyle.com.au/restaurant_melbourne.php I wish there were more Jap supermarkets around.. it's hard to find some ingredients sometimes.
  4. yeh autobarn has different colours (silver/black/red) in some nice premium mesh for about $30-50 depending on what size piece you're after
  5. yeh agreed with d00dz, its a very common problem in 32's
  6. Ok guys, quick question: What head bolts have you used for your engine? Has your engine been rebuilt for the track or just a street car? In your mind, what are the best quality bolts? I think that about covers it I'm told ARP are good, also heard of Plexus but that's about it other than standard OEM bolts.
  7. only just saw this, if you're still after one I have a complete gazelle in exc condition.. shouldn't need anything for RW, it was RW'd not long ago. Engine has been recon'd, runs very well.. new tyres etc. Let me know if you're still looking for one, Cheers! Kaz
  8. haha yeh what allblitz said.. ring at least 5 times and then take an average of the answers and you'll get your 'most likely' answer.. Ok not sure about licences but with cars they're aren't linked up (assume it'd be the same tho).. ultimately VICRoads/QLD transport etc are separate bodies. On that note, they couldn't even check an engine number that had been prev registered in another state (to see if it was a stolen car/engine.. I was unaware at the time it hadn't been rego'd in VIC anyway). A car which was defected in Victoria that had QLD plates.. had no defect listed on the Vicroads system.. however that being said I don't know if the VIC TMU would have more info than vicroads and possibly still known about the defect if the car had been pulled over on the QLD plates again. Generally you're better to write an email/letter and wait for an answer as they are more thorough... because you have a written answer to quote them with later. And with car rego, better to keep it rego'd in another state as a general rule... especially if it's in the NT (can't even remember why now! Different law there somewhere) Nothing stopping you from changing it back to another state later tho. Edit: hah I had to look up urbandictionary just to find out what your old school (old man) slang meant James - hehe
  9. So pete whats the bigger addiction.. chilli or car modification?
  10. agreed with what rrrage said... its the little things that count.. its the difference between a shoddy, cheap service at a local franchise and a more loving service at home.. so its not just the price at the end of the day. I'm sure its in the link James posted but there are plenty of tips around that take oil like the one in reservoir... cost = $0 Shame you don't live over this way, you could just come over here one weekend and give us a spare set of hands and we'll help you in return Besides which, when I'm too busy (or just cant be arsed!).. then I won't have to listen to Michael whinge about not having any company in the garage all day hehe
  11. Tekin was this today? Not in the 60 roadworks zone I hope.. wasn't watching my speed too closely.. and it only takes 4ks over of course..
  12. Greg I bet you were one of the guys who 'back in the day' used to race my mum in her charger lol..

  16. mcDee: for sure they do! It comes with half a potato farm and a salad.. I don't know how Leewah gets through it all.. we never do! Schnitzels are good too

  18. aww poor al.. did you pick up a Knox ho bag after we left, with your smooth dancin moves? How funny was all the dudes dancing and even singing along to Rainbow Stylinz when we all walked in lol.
  19. personally I dont want to see any porn or the likes on the forum in avatars, threads or otherwise. I couldn't even look at Nissansilvia's 'parts for sale' threads from work because of the avatars, let alone anything else posted, it was blocked straight off. I don't even look at NS anymore and therefore don't attend any NS events, and I'm an ACTUAL woman. So moral of the story is if you want to fill every inch/thread/moment of your lives with porn you'll probably just drive women away. Personally I'm all for the SAU no porn policy, there's enough on the net/tv/etc, it's not needed here. -my 10c

    Window Tinting

while we are on the subject, can someone tell me what is the best thing to do with scratched windows before tinting? just replace them? any other options? Where the hell do you get the glass from, other than nissan.. ? Both the 180 and the 32 have scratches on the drivers side. We plan on cleaning the rollers before tinting but the damage is already done to the glass I guess... (oh and replacing the window/door frame rubber/seal.. 180sx rubbers alone are about $200 each from nissan!!! )
