  1. If you'r car is stock and will remain stock, personally i think a $3k Nismo Twin plate is slightly overkill. Especially if she's a daily driver and won't be seeing any track time or constant hard launches. Why you would fork out for a clutch designed to hold double if not tripple your planned power baffles me.
  2. absolutely awesome news Stu. Get vids up ASAP!!!! And forgot to reply in the Wakie thread, but clutch held up great on the weekend. Did not skip (slip) a beat! Unfotunately I'm out for next week though, but will do my best to make it out for an hour or so if i can. And as Duncan said get this thing to the next NSW track day. 12th June. Congrats again.
  3. Mate i agree with what you're saying in principal. However in your above example of going through various speeds between two points, if the speed limit in that zone is 60, why would you be travelling 80? The aim is not to have drivers hit the exact avg speed limit between two points to come in right on 60km/h for example, it is to ensure people don't exceed the set speed limit. I can understand in any speed zone you drop below and sometimes go slightly above, however i stand by point that if you exceed the known speed limit then you should expect to be fined. I'm not arguing the fairness of the system, just the fact that we all know it's against the law to speed. I do think getting someone for 5k's over the posted limit is revenue raising, no doubt about it. However i also firmly believe that there is no such thing as unknowingly breaking the speed limit. If you're not paying attention, well paying attention is your responsibility. And as far as point to point goes, if you do not exceed the speed limit you WILL NOT get fined. It's that simple. If a truckie is trying to avg the exact allowable speed by going over the limit because they may have slowed down at some point, i again go back to the fact that they are knowingly breaking the speed limit.
  4. re Q1 Tez, how can anything designed to slow a speeding semi down be called revenue raising? Revenue raising to me is a cop hidden in bushes at the end of a slight downhill, booking a driver doing 65 in a 60 zone. Booking a speeding truck driver who has sped over a number of k's when they know there speed is being monitored is more than justified and completely called for. It's pretty simple - don't speed you don't get fined. Before everyone jumps up and down with "oh you've never sped before" lines, yes i have but I'm sure as hell not going to bitch about being caught if I've knowingly broken the law. How appropriate the speed limits are is a completely different issue. At the moment they are what they are, if you speed and get caught - well, deal with it.
  5. ^^ haha, that was me. I saw you had a smile on your face and after the wave new it was all good. Just got back from Canberra after heading down again this morning i am officially dead tired! I also found out what my massive shuddering was any time i tapped the breaks on the way home - cracked rear right rotor. Given their condition I'm not too surprised, and gives me a good reason to upgrade i suppose :-)
  6. It look decent from behind you mate. I just saw a massive cloud of dust and then there was dirt from after the kink, to the exit of the next corner :-)
  7. Awesome day guys, another big thanks to all the organisers. Huge thanks to Dan as well for actually showing me the correct lines compared to what i thought were the correct lines. Really helped mate! "Turn in late, later, later, later - NOW" Ando, i think you're epic shuddering was contagious. I had no drama's all day, until i slowly hit the brakes for the first time on the way home. I'm hoping it's a warped disc or 4 (feels like it). But i think i also felt shuddering on deceleration. I'm hoping it's my imagination. The car held up great all day, but def need decent tyres and suspension.
  8. Down the hill, into the last turn at Oran Park, John? I think that's the meanest I've seen her look!
  9. Hey mate, Send a PM to "Shell" in case she doesn't catch this thread. She's sometime on pretty late, so don't be to concerned if she doesn't get back to you immediately. Cheers Bobby
  10. Looks great Stu! Still on track for Oran Park? Oh, and the clutch is awesome.
  11. $5k = Go Kart = Best $5k you will ever spend!
  12. Hey Tez, Are you guys going to be organising parking for the non 34's by model as well? I'm just thinking if you're going to all the trouble of organising groups it would make for very stunning pics if all the 33's were together, 32's together etc etc. Sorry if it's already been discussed, haven't read through all the pages.
  13. There's a topic i think in the Skylines and other vehicles section which has a news article saying that the new FX will be officially available in Japan, under Nissan, called a Skyline!
  14. :-) Hey Nick, would def be good to catch up. Looking like 90% at this stage. On Saturday the N1 goes down to the gong to get my new clutch fitted for a trackday the following week. If all goes well, I've been told you should run a clutch in, and what better way to do that than drooling over other Skylines!
  15. I'm using one on my R32 N1, no drama's at all. Only mods on my car are a cat-back exhaust, pods, and boost controller. Of course being an N1, it has the N1 turbo's as well. So far it's performed without a fault. No cold start issue, no anything really. I spoke to a fair few tuners and in the end, for someone like me who is not going to be endlessly modifying the car, the Nistune was perfect. I'm trying (really hard ) to keep my car close to stock. Price wise, can't remember exactly but it was less than $700 including ECU and dyno time. Here's is a copy of the tune. We stopped at 276kw as the AFM's were maxing out.
  16. Hey Norm, Does the harness buckle into the stock rear seat belt mounts, or parcel shelf? $80 pick up tomorrow? I'm about 15mins away. Cheers Bobby
  17. Isn't it actually officially entered? I thought its first race was in May? Michael Krumm and some other guy driving.
  18. Don't be put off by all the rebuild stories. You'd be hard pressed to find a GTR thats let go without being abused. I'm sure if you sit there doing 7000rpm launches in your EVO then sooner or later it too will go. At the end of the day a GTR is just like any other car, in that if it has been looked after by the previous owner and you look after it and not hammer the crap out of it, there is no reason why it should break. There is nothing in the design of the GTR that causes them to just break out of nowhere. My 32 has under 60k's with logbooks, and it feel newer than the 2004 V35 i sold before i bought it. Get it checked out before you commit. There's a whole heap of threads on what you should look out for. Get a compression test, leak down test done and if all is ok, grab it and get ready for some sore cheeks, cause is takes a hell of a long time to loose the smile once it's in your garage
  19. Being about a month away and with all the recent pics coming out, I thought why not get a thread going I think the GTR looks stunning. Official FIA GT Site http://www.fiagt.com/ Here some times from the test day. 8th for the GTR which is pretty good against cars and teams that have been GT racing for many years. 1. #9 DKR Engineering - Corvette C6.R - 2:01,820 2. #4 PK Carsport - Corvette C6.R +0,111 3. #18 K plus K Motorsport - Saleen S7-R +0,465 4. #3 Selleslagh Racing Team - Corvette C6.R +0,576 5. #14 K plus K Motorsport - Saleen S7-R +0,629 6. #1 Vitaphone Racing - Maserati MC12 +1,898 7. #2 Vitaphone Racing - Saleen S7-R +2,598 8. #35 Nissan Motorsports - Nissan GT-R +3,680 9. #11 Full Speed Racing - Saleen S7-R +3,884 10. #13 Full Speed Racing - Saleen S7-R +4,856 11. #44 Matech Racing - Ford GT1 +5,816 12. #97 Brixia Racing - Porsche 997 GT3 RSR +6,379 13. #56 CRS Racing - Ferrari F430 GT2 +6,697 14. #55 CRS Racing - Ferrari F430 GT2 +6,936 15. #51 AF Corse - Ferrari F430 GT2 +7,452 16. #60 ProSpeed Competition - Porsche 997 GT3 RSR +8,326 ... 20. #88 Reiter Engineering - Lamborghini Gallardo GT2 +10,914
  20. Yeah, definitely has to come out, pretty much has to come out to access any parts clutch/box related. Cost wise, your looking at probably around the $350 mark I'd say.
  21. bump
  22. ^^ Agreed My V35, which had Brembo's and upgraded pads, would be engaging ABS at the slightest touch on nearly every corner at Wakie. That being said it did give me extra confidence to brake at the last second. But now you all have me worried cause my N1 has no ABS :-)
  23. Go Chubbeeh Go!!! Oh and as Ryan said, you are all gay! How's mark doing? If it's good, it must be cause it was my spot.
  24. Going through this exact same dilemma right now. My GTR puts out 276kw on 16psi and any time i had the boost set at 16psi it would literally just free rev. I mainly drive it around on 12psi, but its even slipping on that now. So decided to get a new clutch. I've spoken to a lot of people and was originally going to go with "$500, 300kw" clutch, but soon realised that it literally won't last. I'm just chasing up some final details but looks like I'll be going for a NISMO twin plate. Used, but will have it rebuilt before it goes in. Much cheaper than new. This way, it might cost a bit more now, but at least I'll be doing it properly and more importantly once.
