Grp A ended because of cost, not because of the GTR. The death of Grp A really started with the Sierra and their monster turbo's. Nissan then went one better and added AWD. For the other manufacturer's to keep up would've meant massive investment as the majority had no turbo or AWD experience. So you would have pretty soon had a Sierra v GTR series rather than Supercars, and we'd all be complaining that, that was a boring 2 car series :-) Look up the budget of the Gibson boys compared to 99% of the rest of the Grp A field. They were spending fists full of dollars more than anyone else.

Importing A V36 Skyline Sedan And Price For One?
NISMO replied to Giveitall's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I can't wait for a few of these to hit Aus. I don't think there's anything wrong with what prestige are saying. As chris said, it's just a case of free compliance, and the fact that they'll need the car for about 6 months. -
Why Are R34 Gt-r Still So Expensive
NISMO replied to rehab2010's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yep and R32's are not selling for $800k yet. Noone is saying they are rare and worth a million bucks. Fact is that they're an "iconic" car. As time goes certain cars in certain condition will command very high prices. This has been pretty much the case with most "iconic" cars of certain era's. I can't seeing the GTR's "increase" in price for a very long time to come but i think it will happen. is $45k too much for a mint 100% stock R32 GTR today? I think yes. Is it off the planet ridiculous for a collector who plans on hanging onto the car? Far from it. -
I've spoken to a few dealers around Syd and most have seemed happy to help. In saying that, they definately charge you for that help. As an example, the last item i priced up was $150 more expensive from my local Nissan dealer than from Just Jap. And the price from Just Jap was $140 :-) As much as they can provide the parts it'll always be an absoluet last resort to even get a quote from them from now on.

Why Are R34 Gt-r Still So Expensive
NISMO replied to rehab2010's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Exactly! If 45k for an immaculate GTR is crazy, wtf do you call 800k for a Phase 3 falcon? Like all cars, there are those that absolutely love a particular model. Collectors, cashed up morons. What ever they may be, they want the car they pay for it. Comparing what a GTR commands here v japan is just stupid. Back to the phase 3, go and try and sell that in Japan for 800k. -

V35 Std Brakes Non Brembo
NISMO replied to 180 wanabe's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I can definitely say that for a series 2 V35 std brakes are NOT the same as 350z. A couple of years back i had pretty much one of the first series 2's and went to a place to have them changed thinking they were the same but when i got there, quite different. The V35 pads are much larger than the 350Z non brembo's. Not sure about disc size. -
Agreed, but when it comes to the laps they're telling you about it would be the quickest lap they do over the course of all testing they do there(rarely just 1 day on a public day). Pretty sure they would also use the quickest driver they can find, so i reckon the comparo is pretty good.

Import Advice - Series 3 R33 Gtr
NISMO replied to evilGTR's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
When i bought my 32, I was initially looking for a series3 R33 GTR (less than a year ago) Back then when the yen was much weaker to the dollar i found that the S3's were still commanding a very high price. Well decent one's anyway. I found a genuine unmolested model with books and decent k's was much closer to 30k landed and complied. There where a few that popped up with over 100k's on the clock and no books that would be all up around the $25k mark. In saying that i have no idea what they're worth now and if they've come down with the whole financial crisis thing going on. -
Tai, There is a general section of the forums for these kinds of topics. The idea behind the V35 section was not to segregate the V35 community in all ways from the rest of the forums but to have a a place to discuss car related issues. That being said there is already a general chat type thread in this section somewhere. Please use that for, well general chat As such I'm closing this thread.

My GPS timer had me at around 180 as top speed as well. And an average speed around the lap of around 110.

NISMO replied to DJRIFT's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Oran Park GP for me. Have driven Wakie and Eastern Ck as well and EC is great but personally i think you need a more all out track car to really explore it. -

I was think the same thing (except for the whole Chevy thing) but then remembered Matt was in our group :-) still though a couple of snaps with the arm out the window would've done.

Mirror Like Finish Car Paint Restoration/protection
NISMO replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
haha, you sound like me whne it comes to washing :-) If he buffed them, and they just re-appeared I'd be extremely pi$$ed. Especially that quickly. Not pointing any fingers cause obviously i have no idea what he used or how he used it, just saying that if washed properly (as you have) and the swirls were buffed out, there is no reason for 80% of them to re-appear. Back to your original question, I'm not really sure about the long term stuff. Have heard a few people have had bad experiences and no detailer will recommend it. Then again if they did, theyd be out of business :-) -
Mirror Like Finish Car Paint Restoration/protection
NISMO replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
What kind of process did he use to remove the swirls? The reason i ask, is if he buffed them out, then the only way they could come back would be if someone put them there. Almost all swirls are caused through washing/polishing. A swirl cannot simply re-appear. Most detailers for example use 2 buckets when washing, one for the suds, and a second to rince before getting more suds. If on the other hand he simply used some sort of "filling" polish like Scratch X or something then yeah once it's life goes, the swirls come back. Given his rep i honestly would be very surprised if he didn't buff out all the swirls. -
