  1. good work with the pics, look good
  2. that sucks. is your car normal height or mega low?

  4. the wastegate and dump have nothing to do with flutter or "cooler noises". you should do some reading on what wastegate is and how it works and why an external wastegate is pointless on the stock turbo. the flutter is known as compressor surge, do a search on it. its often listed as flutter and is nothing more than air being chopped on the compressor wheel, causing damage
  5. The commitee will select them for each month. You are welcome to nominate places to visit. You can pm them to me or email [email protected]
  6. more boost only means more power when you are in the effiency zone of the compressor (known as island). the compressor map will tell you when this stops. for the stock compressor, past 12psi dials in hot air so its pointless running 15psi. as you will dial in more heat, more detonation and probably make less power
  7. it wont fail, turbochargers are pretty reliable, unless given harsh conditions i wouldnt expect it to fail tomorrow. a 2nd hand rb25 can be had for around $400 to $500
  8. i find the stock turbo a great all rounder. i have no issues with keeping up with cars on the street, although single spinner diff is annoying. can take down xr8's, xr6turbo's, and the usual stack of vlts and what not. 0 to 100 in 4.88 but pretty crappy 1/4 due to single spinner and cold track
  9. start in 1st, then bang it into 2nd
  10. happy bday
  11. i am the key master
  12. rb20 != rb25
  13. you want to hit boost at 3 grand but are fitting a larger turbo? those two don't match up and you'll likely add more lag. specially choosing a gt3040r, don't expect much before 4500 ish
  14. There is no difference between rb20 and rb25 hiflow. They get hiflowed to the same specifications. You can make boost come on earier, it all depends on intake setup, exhaust setup and state of the tune.

  16. a few rwkw lower would be acceptable but not 20rwkw to 30rwkw from pressure drop. it doesnt sound right, its too much. try a dyno run with the exhaust dropped.
  17. well i think it goes that if you are running 10psi and the guage and actuator read from the compressor outlet or before the intercooler and intercooler core causes a 3psi pressure drop then there will be 7psi pressure in the manifold past the intercooler, which means less "boost".
  18. more boost doesnt always equal more power. this is only true when you are still in the effeiency zone of the compressor. if its only 10rwkw who cares. its hardly anything significant. if the turbo was shagged i would expect it to be more obvious. lots of lag, squealing coming on boost, smoke etc
  19. it certainly is possible but highly unlikely
  20. be very careful and run unlimited boost on the dyno and see how it alters the results. obviously back off when u see it peak past 1.3 bar or see it lean out. that will indicate if its the controller and actuator playing funny buggers
  21. correct it uses pressure to guess how much airflow is present. once you reach target boost pressure doesnt change, therefor guesstimated airflow doesnt change either, despite more air coming into the system. the net result is that it will shoot across the load axis and won't move up and down any more. which means less load points, its not a big deal but it is not more accurate, less if anything
  22. map sensor is less accurate
  23. yeah if its under high boost the oil seal on it could be shagged drop the boost and see if it goes away, if it does, it could be ok and will remain to be ok, the more boost, the faster the shaft speed, which could explain why its leaking oil under excess stress
  24. what turbo? sounds like oil seal is shagged on the turbo its leaking oil into the intake piping turn the boost down until you find out whats wrong, see if it goes away
