  1. I might have a set of springs... pm me what they're worth to you, if you need a set. Cheers Justin
  2. Thanks for the replies. So, do you just swap the 25 output shaft into the gtr gearset? Anything else?
  3. No, stock gear set.... The gear set is, but things like output shaft? etc
  4. Thanks for the advice... sorry for the hijacking.. ..... more updates! ah ha.
  5. Who has actually put a GTR gear set into an RB25det gearbox? Other than swapping front and rear housing... what is needed??? I know it's done, just need absolute details. Cheers Justin PS I've been searching for a while, just can't find any specific info.
  6. Especially when I'm using coolant that won't boil/smell or expand.... so unless you catch the temp guage, you can be runningaround for quite awile before you notice whats up.
  7. If the DC proves reliable, next re-build I will probably remove the water pump, thermostat and stock fan arrangement all together for some further experementation....
  8. Great minds think alike... I'm 1/2 way though the install of my DC ally electric pump today. I'm going to leave the mechanical pump in for a few reasons..... 1. I can't be assed pulling the whole face of the enginge off to rmove the water pump. 2. The mech pump will provide redundancey if the electric pump fails for any reason. 3. The underdriven N1 pump has a reduced parasitic draw on the engine, especially if it's not having to draw coolant. 4. I want to keep the stock fan hub and shroud arrangement, but will be gong to a gtek fan and adapter. I know I can press the impellor off the water pump, but see points 1-3. 5. The DC controller offers a fan out put that I'll be using to controll a thermo fan on one of my oil coolers. Cheers Justin
  9. ... I was wondering what comments were going to come out of that statment.
  10. I like the design change towards alch compatability. I'll be grabinng a set when I go to e85... or hope to see 1600-2000cc's by then
  11. rb26 valve spings? they fit from memory...
  12. BS.... They're one of the only injector companies that don't use 'test fluid'.
  13. You really need a vibrating table to do it properly though....
  14. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&Ntk=all&Jnar=0&Ne=1%2B2%2B3%2B13%2B1147708&searchTerm=hardblok
  15. ... how close if the afm to the tb? got any pic's handy of the engine bay? \cheers Justin
  16. Thanks for the review mate. .... any advice for someone who is about to set up an s13 to learn to drift in? I've been reading a lot of info on drift set up's, but not too much info on what a good beginner set up might be. also, a good proportion of the info out there is contrary to most of what I know about suspension (open wheel/circle track style cars). It has cusco coil-overs, caster arms and rear camber arms. Cheers Justin
  17. Just on a side note.... Where did you source the silicone boots? look good. Who did you buy the ikeya gear through? Cheers Justin
  18. Mine only has an issue when at idle and/or low revs/low speed. but I'm using an N1 water pump and under drive pulley. I knew I was going to have an issue, but I wanted to experiment with it. I have a Racepace twin pass rad, with the stock clutch fan/shroud... but the N1 pump just can't flow enough water at low engine speed, especially with the under drive pulley. If I was running e85, I might be able to get away with it??? as combustion temp's would be lower. I know of 3 high hp rb's that are hardblocked up to the welsh plugs (going above the welsh plugs is a lot harder) that run perfectly cool at low speed with the right set up. Cheers Justin
  19. It actually makes the cooling process more efficient.... however, your oil temps will go up as a result of no lower block cooling. The main issue is loss or coolant volume. Cheers Justin
  20. I filled mine up to the bottom of the welsch plugs.
  21. I have a reasoably stout set up in my GTR. I chose to keep the standard matching numbers block in my car. My aim is over 500rwkw, so I chose to part grout fill my block. If it's a street car, you will need to plan your cooling system very carefully. Most of they guys I have spoken to with grout filled blocks run a stock water pump with the stock pully. I have also chosen to use a specialised coolant and twin pass radiator. Cheers Justin
  22. zzzzwwwttttddddaaatttaaaaaa..... Nooo Stock GTR... yes
  23. Mine was more related to movement... the sudden application of torque moved the engine more than when on the dyno. It was very supprising to me. I had all really good quality clamps, trust pipe work, trust silicone, all rolled edges at each connection. ... this is a tough one Cheers J.
  24. didn't leave a rag in the cooler pipe work? been there before
