  1. When's the next drift practice on??? Anyone? Cheers Justin
  2. hks step 2 kit... i was considering selling it and buying a nitto 3.2- but i just can't bring myself to put a forklift donk in my gtr! i'll put one in the stag though...
  3. hmmm.... dosn't look all that much different to my genuine greddy unit. bugger! It'll be interesting to see if there are any gains/losses. I'm so happy your doing all the testing on alot of parts I'm planning to use shortly. I just won't be going 3lt... stroker for meee and a little (mm maybe alot) of giggle gas. Cheers Justin
  4. Ha ha ha... nice one. Throw a lumpy cam and some more compression at it (along with the right exhaust) and get a really unique sound for a 33. Good luck Justin

bugger... if you get it south I'll give you a hungee for it. Cheers Justin
  6. I havn't seen a general thread get so big so fast in the Tassie section for a while.... nice one. Maybe we should alternate a track day with a working bee day every month??? Or even on the track days, everyone who needs a hand brings they're trucks down for some advice and help??? Just a thought? Cheers Justin
  7. I used an msd window switch... you really need a window switch and not just a simple 'shift light' style rpm indicated switch. Well worth the money for the extra midrange... Cheers Justin
  8. With the amount of flow you will need for the E85 it's worth the few extra bucks to pop in a t piece or y piece and run the extra line to the front of the rail... It dosn't have to be a billet alloy- cnc machined- aerospace y piece... a plain steel or bronze T piece will do. J.
  9. Yeah... X2 I'm really digging pace of progress and the approach to the development. Keep it up- I can't wait to see the results! Cheers Justin
  10. Well there's one really good way to stop any potential rust issues in the roof.... CF ROOF!!!! Sorry- had to be said. ha ha ha I hope you keep it for a while and enjoy all your hard work... otherwise somone is going to get a reeeeeealy nice, re-built 32. Cheers Justin

    how healthy? how much?
  12. Bugger... not going to be back by then. If it's a regular thing- I'm well keen after May. Justin.
  13. Nitrous express or WON electronic bottle pressure gauges. I wouldn't bother with one unless your using the nitrous alot, just stick with the mechanical bottle mounted guage. When installing the nitrous system, it must only activate at full throttle (use a microswitch on your throttle body)... An rpm window switch is also a good idea... id say 4000-7000rpm. Nirtous sitting in a line in the hot engine bay will start it's phase change to gas in the line as it sits there... purging a little, clears the line of gas and brings the cold, liquid nitrous to the soliniod. Get a decent bottle heater that is pressure reffrenced, not temperature reffrenced! especially if you live in a colder climate. Set it up correctly, tune it right for just under top bottle pressure on a 55hp shot and you should see a good reliable 50hp gain at the wheels.... Cheers J.

  16. As mush as anything, the -9's will boost spike quicker than -5's because of the smaller front end. Also -5's at that kind of hp (400rwkw) are starting at the boarderline of housing flow.. yes you can get more out of them, but the scale starts dropping off at a rapid rate. If a fixed shot is used- the wastegates wont be big enough to bypass the immediate rush of extra gas nearly as efficiently or quickly as you might think. Especially as compared to an external wastegate set up. I'll put it a different way- with 10cm T517Z's (a larger rear housing than -9/-5) I had some boost controll issues at 50hp worth of nitrous... not uncontrollable, but the boost issues got bigger, when more nitrous was used. ... if you've bought a basic zex kit- to get the best out of it, get a pressure gauge, a bottle heater and keep the lines from the solinoids as short as possible. Take a good look at nozzle placment and consider using a WON nozzle if nothing else to get a decent fan and fuel atomisation. If you tap the origional fuel circut, make shure your fuel pump can handle it. Oh and to try because the gass travels much faster than fuel, leave the nitrous line longer than the fuel line, or use a delay circut on the nitrous solinoid. If you have any questions, just pm me- I'd be more than happy to help. J.
  17. A rough guide for cooler plumbing is- Hot side- keep the pipe diameter the same size as the turbo outlet.. Cold side- keep the pipe work a close size to the tb... Your stock gtr cooler shouldn't hold you back for your power level, to make it a little more efficient- close the gaps up between it and the front bar and above the grill. If your going to do anything, swap out the post cooler to tb pipe with a 3" pipe. There will be very little gain, unless you have some crazy bends in there though... For the same money as a custom 3" cooler pipe (say $35 per bend + fab = $200 odd) buy a better set of brake pads/fluid/lines or a 3.5" muffler to see a better performance gain. J.
  18. If there are gains to be had... I'd be keen. Saying that... by the time we'd buggered about with buying/fitting the manifolds, modding the intake pipe work, modding the oil and water lines, 'adjusting' the dump pipes/down pipes etc... ... aren't there a pair of top mount, external gate turbos to fitt- they may result in better performance??? for no other reason than there is not as much comprimise for fittment or wastegate size??? I don't know? I guess I'm asking the question- hmm. What ever the answer, I like what BoostdR is doing- I can't wait to see the results! Cheers J. PS. BoostdR- Do you get much low end comp surge? If so, I'd love to know if these manifolds help illiminate it..
  19. I first put nitrous on a GTR in 2005... I've done a few kits and learnt some things over the years- The biggest problem you will have is exhaust flow. The little housings on the -9's will not be able to flow much more gas than they allready are... Nitrous is (or should be as close to) injected into the manifold as a liquid, then expands into a gas to be ingested into the engine..... the additional gas ('super oxygen') is combusted and expelled out the exhaust, in this case- through the turbine housing. If the wastegates can't bypass enough of the extra gass, then you will get boost spiking, extreme back pressure and other things happening that are bad. Especially with the zex kit, keep the dose low (under 75hp), keep a keen eye on the afr's and boost guage. There is a whole science to nitrous... most people don't understand how it works- including most workshops. It's easy to plumb up (poorly) but very hard to truly get right. Go to wizard of nos dot com for a full forum of information... I firmly believe nitrous injection is a fantastic power adder if used and controlled correctly...
  20. .... I'l still getting a fkn giggle out of this. I've now got my whole crew (I work on a boat) "I don't care, I don't care""that's fkn whack""fittment bla bla bla" ha ha ha...
  21. As somone who has driven one of the early Tesla's- top gear did go a little too far. The early model roadster then the 4 door, were the fastest point and squirt cars I've ever driven! Increadable instant torque.... there's somthing spookey about frying tyres almost silently. But hey- any publicity is good publicity!
  22. Your american arn't you... better do a little more research mate. Justin
  23. 044 intank- for reliability Cam gears- for tuning flexability Decent down pipes and cat- to remove the restriction Nismo, bolt on adjustable fuel pressure reg- to give a little head room for your injectors Clean and flow test your injectors Clean out your intercooler and pipe work Clean and insulate your coil packs, boots etc New set of plugs Have your radiator flushed out Most of all, be happy with the result once all the issues are worked out... otherwise it's a veeeery slipery slope. Cheers Justin
  24. nice one mate.... im diggin the shifter!
  25. I'm not shure how long a stock GTR pump would handle E85... from a flow point of view, a stock GTR pump with no pressure infront of it will easily out flow 2x 044's with 70psi infront of them. I used to use my stock GTR pump as my lift pump (with the stock speed controll unit). I've been saying it for years... but I would also suggest a single pump, such as a weldon. I have a 2345A for my next set up.... The weldon pump will handle any fuel you can imagine too... Cheers Justin
