My prices start at $4K for 'basic' rebuild including machining and head service...plus parts. I also charge $1.5K to R & R the engine. $2500 for machining on a basic rebuild is excessive by almost $1000 if it doesn't include porting or fitting of new valve guides. Some of the bills ive seen from other workshops over here are unbelieveable. One totalled over $28,000 for a RB26 build and a gearbox overhaul. This bill was labour only and included no parts...the total bill exceeded $40,000. I could build the whole bloody car for a $28,000 labour build....some of these guys need locking up!

My 14YO daughter is mad on anything Japanese and is the top Japanese student at her school...We had an exchange student stay with us last year and she will be going over to Kobe in a few weeks for her exchange. She got into J-pop when Mayuka was over here and is always looking for tunes. So my question was actually a real one. If you could run off one for her she would be wrapped. BTW nice car Richard...typically immaculate like everything you own, good luck with selling it.

A certain Sydney (so-called) workshop charged a mate of mine $560 to install...it consisted of two bits of strip aluminium welded and bolted under where std airbox goes, and lines cabletied to front of subframe. The front bar etc was already removed and was not replaced by them...so a 1hr job tops!...These blokes should be in gaol for being such thieves. Mind you they charged him $28,000 labour to remove, rebuild and reinstall his engine and gearbox...so $560 seems cheap!!

your memory is a bit clouded...this is exactly the words you used...you were being funny as per usual, i got a giggle out of it...and yes 4 degrees was taken out...simply by using the ignition correction function, no point making it hard as this fixed the problem and saved your engine from melting. I even remember you looking across at me with a wry smile after you hit the gas saying "its good isnt it" You were like a junkie trying to get his mate hooked on the drugs he was on.

Yeah if its a basic rebuild with nothing tricky (block grouting, port work, stroker etc) i can get them done in 4 weeks...6 tops. Ive seen shops taking 10 months over here and charging around $40 000...its highway robbery!!
