  1. Yes different manufacturers use different materials that have differing expansion rates so clearances vary. I just built a Tomei non cooling channel 2.8 stroker (87mm)...i was too scared to use the lower end of the clearance scale with them and as the engine will be seeing reasonable power and boost went 2.2thou.
  2. it still holds almost 18psi (17.5) of boost on the 18psi setting...try knocking a little gain out of it to get rid of the spike first. remember...spiking less gain---not reaching target boost needs more gain
  3. Does Greg at Autosport like cheap hookers ?
  4. spot-on...its main use is not to impress the derro's at Summernats but to cool down after the antilag is used.
  5. my cage is the same as 253-7 except it does not have the angled bar tying the rear legs together...which would be easy tp instal. Its a Bond kit and its full cro-moly. thanks for the links...ill have a read
  6. Mate im a big fan of the ACL's but no bastard wants to use them. The thick upper rings seal really well...even in big clearanced drag race stuff and as you say the oil control is much better than the CP's as even at 16 thou the CP's tend to 'float' on the bore.
  7. yes...it was the people who own this facility... http://www.motorplex.com.au/
  8. they are internally gated low-mounts. Dunc's HKS make two types although im sure they wont let you run them, one has a yellow dot on them if you seperate the actuator from the bracket they are 1.2bar spring the other are 1bar and have a green dot. See if GCG can rebuild them for you with a bigger spring.
  9. If we supply the car are any of you lads coughing up the $400+ to enter it?
  10. how much to join CAMS and does the car need log booking? whats required...in sick of the RTA ass raping and would rather make a donation to CAMS...link to roll cage regs please?
  11. can you increase the spring pressure or change the actuators Dunc's? the turbine pressure is forcing the wastegate flap open as the spring holding it closed cannot stop the extra pressure from opening it.
  12. thats a great question...as any block honing should be measured from the exact pistons used. i even went to the extreme of taking my measuring equipment to the machinist i use and got him to measure with his equipment and i did with mine so we could compare 'feel' so we knew we were measuring the same.
  13. the cycle idle sounds disgustingly awesome too...some guys buy cams just to hear the lumpy idle...they would empty their sack once they heard an RB on cycle idle. He was told on more than one occasion that he had the toughest sounding car at the Summernats.
  14. we have ours on stands most of the time..lol.. due to the slight uneveness (is that a word?) of the slab only 3 hold the car up...no sag at all.
  15. it was running that good with CSR's finest and with the cycle idle going it was having trouble maintaining engine temperature on a stinking hot day it runs that cool. he was too busy scaring punters with the anti-lag to worry about burnouts.
  16. afm's and plugs...i have both for sale and items are in like new condition 10 000 genuine klm's old.
  17. its been run and won...the pussy didn't enter the burnout comp!
  18. I only ever drive our race car to the workshop-home-to events(sometimes)-and to be tuned. The car is an ANDRA log booked racecar, i hold an ANDRA UDL (unlimited drag racing licence) and there is no provision in any legislation to road register this car as a race-rego only. So i must fully register and insure the vehicle...karnts! sucks arse.
  19. your husband to be has already called me and requested this.
  20. Bakes i drive past it all the time and think...wow nice 1/8th mile strip! Guess what...it cannot be rezoned and houses built on it. The residents would whinge but when they bought there it was a bloody airport! It would make a great practice strip for use Newy's guys to check our short times, changes to our set-up and shake down passes after major work. I hate going all the way to Sydney to find out something is not right with the car.
  21. for a CP street engine mine are almost the same piston-bore: 3 thou top 16 thou second 18 thou oil rings more than 15 but no more than 20 i get a great seal with this combo if ran in correctly but leaves a little headroom if the engine see's more boost. hey V-spec Tomei recommended piston to bore is 1.9-2.2thou! Trini with that power level id use a little larger Piston-bore 3.25thou top 18 thou second 20 thou oil rings 16 thou
  22. mines seems to come on and off a little easier than im comfortable with...it doesnt push all the way on by hand and is pulled up with the bolt. But as i said before i can remove it with a rubber mallett without too much effort and the balancer, key and crankshaft snout are in pristine order. I hope it because i use a smear of 'silverslip' on the shaft and its a brand new crankshaft and balancer. ARP moly lube is the stuff for the crankshaft bolt and washer.
  23. I only actually realised something was amiss after viewing the Ignition DVD footage...the car momentarily 'open legs' during a burnout. The car was still running 9's but I had noticed that the cars 60' times were getting slower each time i took the car to the track. On inspection after dismantling all the drive tabs were snapped off the clutch plates and the 1/2 shaft on one side of the hemisphere (the crownwheel side) was chewing out the housing causing a bit of lateral shaft play. The best hemisphere's are in the later model R32's (with pull type boxes) and the R33 non-vspec cars. The hemisphere's are much larger in physical size and come with 1mm thicker 1/2 shafts. The std R32 GTR diff centre looks a little fragile when compared to these 'mothers'...Terry calls them a 'P-Trac' whatever that means and says they are a Jap 9inch and almost indestructable when modified. The above info is a closely guarded Red R Racing secret so Dunc's if you could keep it to yourself that would be appreciated.
  24. i use 150ft/lb (200Nm) and 1/2 a turn with a length of pipe over my biggest breaker bar to apply 'correct' torque. haven't had one come loose yet. touching wood as i type
