im not really hinting anything BH im just opening another line of thought into the whole responsive thing. most people enjoy going fast and to consider what i have achieved at such low speed without cam timing adjustments, i was just opening up some conversation on the matter. our guru disco allways says that a gt35 is too much for a street car, but why is it making the most power at low revs? and then more power compared to the gt30 based units? -

where did master yoda go? he was in here for ages and hasnt posted anything. i guess the point i was trying to make is are gtrs's the best response/low down power turbo for the 25? boost maybe! power far from it.... boost isnt everything. -

yea mine was locked in 3rd with the auto being 1:1 a manual in 4th is 1:1, so the same result. thats erelivant to the result. the auto diff gearing is slightly lower by about 10kmph at redline, but with a 7300rpm redline as shown in the final graph my top speed is similar to the manual r33. so back to my first question. -

attached are 3 dyno graphs. cam timing is still stock. once cam timing is adjusted i would expect a improved result on what is allready a awesome car to drive. just curious as to what other turbos can get close to this? flame away if you must. -
he guys and girls. just thought i would stir up a few gtrs lovers and the like, by posting this. i had a look thru the last 5 pages of the rb25 dyno thread and came up with this simple question. what do people class as responsive? i mean yes the gtrs will make boost sooner then my gt3582, but is it making power at those low revs? im curious.

you will find a lot of cars getting up past 350 rwkws with the standard coils, mine included. generally my rule of thumb is! if you have a problem? what was the last thing that i touched that was ascociated with the problem? look at that first as its more then likely the reason for the issue. there could be multiple issues with your car from the wiring where the safc was removed to plug gap, plug choice air leaks etc. dont just fork out $$$$ for coils if yours were working perfectly before you touched it. mine handle 24psi daily with no issues at all. -

are we talking internal gate or external? i asume ext. what brand was the manifold?

the way im looking at it everythings looking good up until 3750rpm. at around 3750rpm your gate starts to open. by 4000rpm its fully open and the interference with the ehaust turbine starts to cause turbulance in the housing. this contnues to build. by 5000rpm the exhaust wheel has lost a tonne of speed as the gasses are trying to split between the gate exit and going out thru the wheel due to the turbine slowing down the manifold pressure starts to rise higher and higher. which only compounds the problem and hence why your torque dies in the ass. not sure what a non gated rear housing is worth but i would assume not a lot. and getting your manifold builder to install the gate into the manifold would be a simple procedure. lowering your exhaust manifold pressure is a must and you have the dyno sheet proving its out of control. so switching housings is the only way you will fix your issue.

Blowing/whistling Noise From Turbo Area Any Ideas

my gt3582 spins for about 20 seconds after you shut the car down. so this fits in with your time frame you are describing. a manifold gasket cant possibly make noise for more then 2 seconds once the car has been turned off, so you can disregard that as your problem. as its highmounted pull the inlet pipe off and feel the shaft for any movement up or down and in and out. spin the impellor by hand and listern for any noise. you could even blast a little compressed air in there to get it spinning to see how loud it is. but dont get carried away with the air as theres no oil flow in the turbo without the car running. or with the car runing leave the clamp off the front silicon get someone to turn the car off and then pull the silicon off quickly and see if its coming from the turbine. -
gt3582r .82 ar 18psi by around 3.5k and around 350kws easily

what happens if you turn the boost up to 20 pound? i can only think the manifold pressure would rise even higher as boost increases. looking at the dyno sheet you provided you have nearly 3 x the manifold pressure as you have boost pressure. i have seen similar set ups to what you have in the past and they have worked ok. But they may have been installed differently, bigger hole in housing etc. at the end of the day the external gate exhaust housing isnt designed to have a big ass hole drilled in it and a gate welded on near the outside of the turbine. so total gas flow will never be optimal. i will mention that the other setup's that i have seen have all been low power cheap fixes not designed for massive amounts of air flow. i personaly would look at manifold #3 having a ex gate outlet and then grab another exhaust housing. your exhaust cant be causing the pressure increase so there is only 2 things that can. the external gate, or your exhaust housing. my finger is pointed at the exhaust housing.

my money is on the gate set up. your manifold pressure is raising out of control while your boost pressure is dropping. either try a manifold that has a gate outlet built into it or switch to internal gate.

no on the side of your graph is around 80 kws up to 314 kws and then 2600 rpm up to 6500rpm it all most looks like he has zoomed in to a full graph just to make the power curve look beter.

can you get the tuner to print out a full graph from 0 to 300kws on the side and from 0 to 180 kph on the bottom. the graph will look very different. then we can see where its strong points and week points are. thanks my full graph attached.

just for comparison this is with the gt3582r-iw .82 ar high mounted on a build rb25 at 23 psi. and its a auto with high stall.
