  1. ^ lol. But have to agree. Anyone who knows what a turbo looks like will still see a big black turbo.
  2. Aw dude that sucks. I've had my cooler piping pop off at full noise 20+psi before and the engine instantly stalled and made a big "Booofffffff" noise releasing the pressure, I was sure I'd blown the motor or something, but it was the outlet silicon join from the turbo. Check that first (since yours instantly stalled like mine under load/pressure). If it isn't that, you can check fuel flow to the rail (can hear itrushing through rail when you prime it) or pull the return hose off and see if it pumps into a jerry can. If you have fuel then you can check spark by pulling each coil out and putting a spare plug into the coil while resting it on the rocker cover and see if it arcs when you crank the motor (might need another person for that). If you have fuel and spark then yeah you might need a tuner to diagnose further. Obviously if you're sus about any other engine noises, tapping/grinding etc don't risk her, just get her to an expert. Hope it's not too serious -Nick
  3. This is such a fascinating look at how these cars fit together. They're amazingly complicated cars, the GT-R's. It's also a little sad for those of us who haven't gone to this level of restoration (without the know-how or the money) to see the ravages of time on a car that we grew up loving. Keep it coming, I'm loving this thread. -Nick
  4. Haha you must look at that bay Mat and think "GAHH! Too much colour!"
  5. Seems almost a shame that a policeman would overlook this engine bay, and wouldn't know just how much effort it takes to make a gtr this powerful and this stealthy.
  6. Do you notice a difference with the strut brace not on the car?
  7. I understand the concept of Stao's VNT (variable) setup, but how does the FNT setup work as opposed to a garden variety turbine housing?
  8. As if you'd keep the twins on a supra. Those motors are begging for a big single.
  9. How does the boost controller actuate the variable geometry of the turbine? Using air pressure to force them open?
  10. Pretty sure Stao's car is a s1 r33. I thought both had VCT? Edit: beat me to it
  11. This is a cool build man. QLD 33's represent!
  12. I looked on the hasemi website but could only see series 1? Could you please point me in the right direction?
  13. Does the evo 9 head allow a more aggressive valvetrain or something?
  14. Is there an equivalent lip like that for an s2 r33 that isn't a nismo/type m one?
  15. If you care how old your car is, care if it creaks and rattles etc and want reliability that comes with a newer car (parts other than engine strength) get the r34. If you don't care about any of that stuff, and just want the best engine for power possible, supra. It will decimate all with about 15-20k of parts in it on the tab at Harry's.
  16. If you were going for over 350kw, I'd get a surge tank, lines and lift pump/in-line pumps for the peace of mind. Otherwise I'd just run a nismo in-tank. Plenty of people making 300kw+ with just that and decent injectors, myself included. Check out ss8gohan's r34 GTR build
  17. I'm totally trying MT streets when the Nittos run out
  18. Hey Sarge, I have Nismo 740's on my car which runs on e85. Have been on there as a daily driver for around 9 months and no issues here.
  19. If it didn't have issues when it was at 220kw do you think you'd have still gone full house eventually? Is that a common fault with evo 8's or were you just unlucky?
  20. Cool build Tonba. I've grown a real soft spot for evo's lately. Did the stockish setup of the 8 get boring too quickly or were you just modifying it without any real plan to begin with? I only ask because I'd like to own an viii myself one day when I sell the sky.
  21. This exactly. I had 266kw and coming on boost in 2nd it would spin my Kumho 245 KU39's (comforty/sporty) tyres pretty hard. The car would snap out to 45 degrees, and bash the limiter and go nowhere really, Then I got pineapples fitted and Nitto Invo's at the rear in 255 when the setup changed a bit and now it doesn't spin 304kw when the rubber is warm. The setup is king.
