  1. well i have pulled down an RB26 for rebuild and found a knackered crankshaft........new cranks are priced quite resonable so i bought 2 new cranks one for the engine and one for myself....heres the mods that i did on one of them today.......first we set up one end in a 4 jaw chuck, and we put a bearing on the other end and clamp that in a steady rest .....we check its true by placing a dial indicator on the main journal surface and spin the crank in the late....we then adjust it until its true..... then we start machining our first crankweb counterweight,we take it from as close to the rod end journal as we can get it right to the main journal at around a 50 degree angle(i cant remember exactly what the angle was)the working back toward the front end of the crank(you will notice only every second web is getting done, this is because every first web needs to be cut back to the opposite end of the crank,we do this by reversing the crank in the lathe)i managed to get all of the second webs done today....i will have the first webs done tomorrow then start balancing it...heres the pics
  2. i concur with sk
  3. oh and the wires that co under the seats are not the ones....they are for the seat belt stork....the ones you need go to the retracting unit behind the inner trim
  4. well that being the case the sensor is under the console.....behind the hand brake mechanism....so clear out the code if that doesnt work do a continuity check(all the wires that go into the airbag sensor module are green!so you have to probe one then probe all the inputs to find which one is which....make sure you disconnect ALL the componants to the system while doing this and disconnect the battery aswell)After making sure the wires are all good, replace te airbag module....
  5. if you got single airbag.....the seat belts have no part in the system the module may be in the steering wheel itself(it is in the GTR's) next would be do a continueity (sp?)check between all the wires in the sytem

  13. you guys are unbeleivable.......all this talk about pulling the globe out...First to ridicule dodgy repairs then suggest this....Heres what you do... to clear the code switch the ignition on....and withing a second push the door pin switch at least 5 times.....this will reset it.....if it doesnt work...you need a new module unit under the console.Do you know if it was replaced after the airbag went off?Once the airbag goes off this unit MUST be replaced.....other componants in the airbag system are the clockspring under the steering wheel and the seat belts
  14. there around 450 new...call binks nissan ask for neil
  15. Im sorry geoff but i have to disagree with the mech eng degree thing.....You dont need a peice of paper to tell you how intelligent you are......I have met many of these types of degree people and hardly ever see any decent prac work.My advice would be trial and error...its the best way of learning.
  16. thats bullshit!!They grip well in the wet
  17. why didnt he just say"look on yahoo and call any 1 of us as most of our cars come from there":D
  18. The chev eagle rod is a small journal chev rod 2 inch big end bore and a 6 inch length the small end needs to be modded...the part number is CRS6000S3D if using an RB26 piston you need something like a CRS6125S3D which really should be a tad shorter....maybe you can use an offset small end bush to get it in the right spot....make sure your measuring tools are spot on for this type of stuff tho!
  19. 0hi simon let me know if you want to get rid of that VK...will tow it away for you Cheers Troy
