  1. what do you mean by 'balance' exactly? if you mean overall performance, the GT autosound car might need a few tweaks, but they are things that can be ironed out. an RB26 with a to4z would be nice but i cant see it being comparable to a TT LS1. more power, more toque, probly a more 'driveable' car on the track if that makes sense. not to mention the bonus of reliabilty....
  2. i'm lookin closer.. whats to see?
  3. are you kidding? have u seen the GT autosound R34? more power, a shitload more toque (what counts) and it weighs less. maybe the RB would be more eco-friendly?
  4. welded diff + chopped springs + open pipes. coming soon to my VL lol. why is it that 99% of 'ghetto' mods are on VL's and VN's
  5. sorry, i was at SEI, have been into power road one to look around, real arrogant c*nt when i was there, but when four young guys rock up asking for test drives you normally get that... apparently if you go with an old bloke (call him 'dad') they'll be real friendly
  6. edit - didnt realise there were 4 other pages, post deleted
  7. i used to work there (sorta) and wouldnt buy a car from there
  8. where is 'here' exactly?
  9. most notable stress would be on wheel bearings IMO. bigger offset = wider track. wider track means the car *should* be more stable through corners, cant really see any drawbacks in relation to handling, unless your alignment is thrown out by something
  10. check aus supra forums. he's got his own subforum on there and there are a few threads on there about those turbos. capped atm so cbf finding em
  11. i wouldnt be too worried about the cars being phased out, they will still be around for more than the next 40 years (your working life) although i love cars i didnt go into that industry because the money isnt so good, its pretty dirty work (not a real big issue) and theres so many of them around, which makes it harder to find work, and will keep the pay rates low IMO. i personally am doing my boilermaker apprenticeship atm, because i dont mind fabrication and its something i wanted to learn, if i was to do anything else, probly plumbing (good conditions, pay etc). the other thing is, all my mates that have become mechanics, they've all lost the passion and cbf workin on they're own cars, and as a guy that i work with told me 'working on cars is my hobby, i'll do it when/how i want to' and it makes sense to me. obviously you wont be pro right away, but i've found theres always plenty of people out there to help/show you things, and i've learned alot of things this way that said your starting tomorow so do it and see what you think of it, if you like it, stay with it. just find something you enjoy and the money will come
  12. nah WRX's are like 5X100, commies 5X120, everything else 5X114.3 (not everything obviously, but a sh*tload of cars)
  13. it has been proven that split dump pipes that merge back in later on make more power than bellmouths (have yet to see results for screamer but dare say it would be similar/better). what a pipe can flow is one thing, how much power you can make through it is another, although they are very closely related. its alright to say a 3" pipe will flow X amount of cfm, but throw in turbulance as found at the rear of the turbo, and it all goes to the crapper, although i do understand where your coming from with how much the exhaust will flow compared to whats coming out of the motor, i cant see that a cheap bellmouth is as good as a split dump/screamer

    Eastside!

+1 for summing up my life. how come movie marathon didnt rate a mention? c'mon, fess up who did em? lol running between cinemas when the staff werent looking so you could actually see 3 good movies. then calling your parents at 6am to pick you up coz it was usually a public holiday and there was no public transport
  15. how many skylines have you seen with internal gates/screamers GTST? i've heard internal gates with screamer pipes that do not leak, at all, i've actually yet to hear one that does leak theres no sh*t fumes i've ever noticed, although it is possible, there cant be much of it, i've been in all different positions in/around the car with the gate open, if there was a bad smell i would have surely noticed it. and when open, i think it does genuinely sound like an external gate there are genuine reasons for having one also, it would help with better boost control (when pushing the stock turbo). power is negotiable as there havent really been any back to back tests, but if its dumping gas out the screamer, thats less going through the dump/exhuast. less gas=less back pressure= more power. and in the cases that i've seen it sounds tough (the most important part )
  16. i think the main problem will be the cage, not the lack of interior. as far as how much you need, i dont know of any rule regarding this, but i would say you dont really need any. maybe a speedo etc, and anything that covers sharp bits (for your safety). i've seen a few cars with completely stripped interiors, even with no door trims, and they were street driven cars, that doesnt mean they were legal of course. maybe phone vicroads, although i cant see you getting a straight answer from them
  17. GTST, what have you got against screamer pipes? your main points seem to be about it being a fire hazard, (and not internal gate specific) so is every car with an external gate a fire hazard also?
  18. and what makes you think a screamer pipe is going to set your car on fire?
  19. not true AFAIK, last time i heard there were 3 in aus, one was from BD4's, one from Xspeed in WA, and the third was from NSW too i think, cant remember what shop though
  20. mate of mine got one from batmbl i think off here, no leak at idle, no exhaust leak sound at all till it hit boost and it just went nuts
  21. i've seen an old skool KPGC10 style GTR badge on a VN.... no pic though
  22. alot of cars i get into with manual window winders, i find the winders are facing up when the window is right down, and sticks into the side of my knee. frustrating when just trying to cruise with the window down, i either have to put the window up a lil and have it sticking into the underside of my arm, or leave it down and have the winder in the side of my knee
  23. same thread just got closed on supraforums. somethin was dodgy me thinks
  24. sorry bit off topic, but is sub-zero even around any more? havent heard of anything from there stables for years
