  1. so this motor has everything you need for it to run?
  2. sorry wrong thread, had too many open at once
  3. what bottom end/oil pump? all 3 sound like hand grenades if stock bottom end, if built the most reliable IMO would prebly be the R33
  4. lol yeah sorry, shoulda mentioned that, thought it was kinda a given edit - obvious to run low boost, never thought/personally wouldnt bother with comp test
  5. whatever you get it will all be pretty close on price/specs/performance, i wouldnt stress about lookin at other ones, unless you want HKS stickers on your car rather than tomei
  6. dont suppose you have any idea of the A/F ratio? as long as its not running too lean and not knocking, you wont be doing any damage. might need to get some new plugs before you go to the tuner though, if its a bit rich (tune it yourself a bit rich to be safe) it will foul up the plugs a bit, but nothing i can see to be real worried about
  7. metal = reuseable AFAIK, its paper-ish (whatever they are) ones that you must change when u pull the head off
  8. probly got coilovers or bad economy, or just doesnt trust it on a long trip, might not want to 'risk' it in the outback with animals and such?
  9. yeah 20B would go alright, no lack of torque from them, they make like 450nm or something last time i checked? ahahha i just wanna see that bus with a maztec (or similar) built 13B, big single, external gate, launching off the transbrake and holding just that little bit of angle (on slicks of course) the entrie way down the 1/4
  10. guys at work were talking about this, saying something about we buy our oil from singapore, and the price rise was from another countries oil?
  11. because GM and mazda had dealings going on back in the 70's and GM 'genoursly' donated a bunch of chassis to mazda, a gift of sorts. thats my understanding of it anyway
  12. i'd be more scared of driving that much sh*tty highway in a sports car.... your ass will hurt more than after a conjugal visit with Big Bad Bubba
  13. better off in a disel landcruiser, although wouldnt be as much fun, its what i'd be lookin at. no problem finding fuel, more comfortable (important on loooonnnggggg trips), and better range (long range tanks etc). not to mention you can take it to some harsher places. although sti or evo would be ok off road, for places like NT and up in WA, cruiser would be hell of a lot better, plus you dont fel as bad if u put soem scratches/dents in it PS, you can get landcruisers with trims like winches, fridges, lots of good things. also, trip is about seeing things, not driving a spots car, go the cruiser
  14. cant help you with pics but i must say, probly the best looking 33 i've ever seen was a clean stock series two dumped on gold GTC's what colour is your car, what colour rims are you getting?
  15. lol nice landcruiser seriously though whys it sitting so high? just the stock suspension with 20's?
  16. how much are they charging you for it? it might not take 2.5 hours but they might allow that for working on other cars/hickups along the way. any more than about $50-70 then take ur car somewhere else
  17. will be impressive but come on.... do they really expect it to hang with a carrera GT....?
  18. you wont get rid of rattles by using a different box, its just the vibration from the sub, so you either have to turn it down or put up with it. you can try things like moving the sub to make it fire into the cabin etc, but best idea is to deaden it
  19. could have a better torque curve, making it feel faster, but the most likely explanation is that you were sitting in the passenger seat, this always feels faster than driving
  20. looks mint. someone wanna PM me the price?
  21. be very very careful though. you can score a bargain, but you can also end up with big problems. i was workin at a panel beaters a few years ago, guy just bought a GSR lancer from there (evo III style thing) and it came in to get some stuff checked for roadworthy, like had to go over it and take some measurements coz it was a repair job. he paid 18 grand for it, and when we had it up on the hoist, found it had been in a side impact and basically the whole side of the car had been cut down the chassis rail and a new side welded on. owner is/was left with 18 grand of scrap steel. problem is there is no real details on the cars, you cant get mechanical inspections etc done, what you see (or don't see in alot of cases) is what you get
  22. would probly be better off doing the turbo through supercharger thing. what have you got against it specificaly? guy on calaisturbo and i htink he might be on here aswell twin-charged his VL with RB25 head (maybe 20 head) but did it turbo through sc and it seemed to work pretty well. think theres some videos on youtube of it too
  23. how much did you spend roughly for the whole trip? how was it there not speaking thai? did your companions speak thai or does everyone sorta understand english there? thought it was all 3rd world over there, didnt know they had any decent cities lol. get to see any live muay thai?
  24. yeh ray knows his shit, +1 for RE
  25. what dump/front/cat/catback have you got?
