  1. Which part of your "Iron Mask" got damaged??? Grille, spoiler, what????? Please confirm.
  2. I would be interested as well, but need shirts 3XL minimum and I don't think the Japs make these things in TENT sizes. LOL
  3. You said that you are planning on putting the Paul Newman bits into your hatch, what are your plans for the wagon when your done? what happened to the PNV? The PN bits going into the hatch is just the turbo induction/exhaust systems, and ECU & loom. I have bought a T3 off an FJ20DET that's also going on in place of the L20ET turbo, as the exhaust housing is nearly double the size. The induction system already has some type of adjustable boost valve in it that will be transferred. It will then become an L24ET all legit, engineered etc, and full Ti spec, incl 2 way power sunroof. In addition, 40mm lowered 200 lb/in custom (Jumboz) rear springs, 50mm lowered 240/250 lb/in custom (Jumboz) front springs, 24mm (Selby/Whiteline) front sway bar, new adjustable Koni's all round. Probably include Z32 front seats with all electric, fully adjustable driver's seat, /, /, <, >, /. Short shifter (throw length 20mm shorter) 2.5 inch exhaust system. SAAS sports steering wheel, imported Hot Plate tail lights The package will include a type 1 BOV, but won't be fitted. It will be on the market registered for about $4000.00. Will be sold with current dyno graphs, spare tail gate/hatch, and some other spares. No intercooler! but I expect it to have about 140/150Kw Colour: Red with grey interior, they never came this way in Oz, were all red with brown interior.
  4. Hey Bruce, Only as old as the woman you feel!!!!
  5. You got me lost now, have never done the Auto to Manual conversion, but I think the manual crossmember is different but mounts to same position, would normally come with gearbox I would think, particularly if stating for conversion purposes. Driveshafts, not sure would have to check, but I have about 3 or 4 & diffs all same, R180 3.9:1 open type. Clutch is hydraulic & handbrake cables are required as well. Your right about wreckers in SA, I found 1, River Murray Auto Wreckers at Barniera SA, 8588 2445, online at www.partslocator.com.au and they have an 83 auto hatch, is this same place you found? MR30's are a dime a dozen up here in Sydney, just let me know what you need and I will organise to get it for a small labour fee. I have a few older retired type mates that are more than keen to help, for a little top up to their pensions. One changed a water pump on an N13 pulsar the other day for a friend, and his labour was $30.00. helps pay for their smokes etc. very reasonable deal, I think. Cheers,
  6. Mick, RB20.25/26/30, exhaust all same side as L24. Left or near side to kerb. As for exhaust outlet point in body, I am cutting a section from the rear beaver panel and tack welding it into the old outlet point and filling/finishing with body filler. Then cut new outlet on left side, but would have to do something to eliminate the sharp edge, like a moulding or similar trim idea.
  7. In Australia, ALL hatches had disc brake rear ends. As for front struts? My guess is R31's as they look very similar and are shorter by about 42 mm for lowering, What may be different, is the steering link mount, but I think the R31 could be used. Coilovers??? I don't know, Crimmo is the man that has done the S13 conversion, I was lucky enough to pick up a genuine set of JIC coilovers off an R30, from Japan. Making your own isn't that difficult with the kits available from Whiteline or Noltec. Remember our Aussie R31 was another bureaucratic bullshit deal, to have a higher Aust content, hence the live rear axle etc.
  8. Where are you first? What state? Cause the easiest way is change the motor, I have an 84 MR30 Hatch that I am putting all my PNV turbo bits onto. Makes then an L24ET (turbo) then goes about as quick as a stock CA18DET 180SX.
  9. NAILING A ZED! Merli, Can we stop hurling abuse at each other and talk fact. Your NEGATIVE & subsequent dick swinging & impressing 14 year old girls comments, set the mood for my posts. I have since been advised that your motivation was the defence of a mate. It has also been established by some! that I may not fit into the generalised category of MOST on this forum and for the exercise, let's just consider me an equal to John's driving experience and talent. John boasts that his Z32 has 345 rwkw, but his approx weight is 1640 kg with a drag coefficient of 0.32. If you take a Skyline weighing approx 1215 kg, a drag coefficient of 0.37, it is 35% lighter with a similar drag coefficient and therefore only needs 225 rwkw to do the same task. If the lighter Skyline has similar or better brakes, and about 245 rwkw and has an equal driver, it is VERY likely that it will lap consistently quicker than the Z32, at least on paper. Hence my comment on it not needing a GTR to beat a Zed
  10. How???? congratulations! Weddings & Funerals all the same, you go and pay your last respects to your mates. lol
  11. Are you for real??????? At 90! I'm surprised you can drive a performance car at all. My father is 89, and THE WORST god damn driver I have ever seen, holds an open license and is scared shitless driving in excess of 80 klicks. I'm damned if I know how he manages to hussle the RTA each year in his driving test. I suppose the theory is slow is better, as opposed to some youngen wanting to drive at the speed limit is an idiot.
  12. Are you aware that the 2 x 90 degree bends and subsequently the exhaust outlet being on the driver's side, is a result of Australian only, bureaucratic bullshit about protecting the pedestrian from exhaust emissions. The Japanese car had the exhaust outlet on the left, directly out from the silencer.
  13. And remember when you cut the hole in the top of the airbox, your gunna suck in sh!t loads of HOT engine bay air. Great for performance as heat KILLS HP.
  14. Don't they WRECK them in Adelaide????? If you want I could organise a gearbox & I have a pedal box spare. All the ancilliary bits would come from the gearbox source. Cheers! :ghost:
  15. I hope to have it engineered and emissions tested, registered etc by end of this year, but going off road straight after rego for HKS exhaust with ext gate, Trust inlet plenum, GT3540 turbo, and 3.5 inch system, FMIC etc, etc. Other than that, how long is a piece of string? Have to get an MR30 Ti hatch finished as well. But rest assured, I will do a stop, revive, survive stop n Port for at least one day and will let you know when. Probably a Friday night, leave here 3ish and be in Port about 7:30ish maybe. You plan on doing some cruising eh! :ghost:
  16. Quick correction: Both the 260 & 280Z's Aussie delivered were carbie inducted, the L28E in Japan was an L28ET, that never came to Aust, to my knowledge. Other than that it's fairly accurate Josh, all in all not a bad project, just a pity the research wasn't more extensive. What you may have noticed, all USA 280Z's were our 260 body.
  17. Sorry Josh, but your site is full of holes. Just a suggestion, try asking a few questions FIRST before going to print because you look awfully silly when you have to correct yourself. I have only looked at the first 3 links and the fullboost pic is an R31 series 2 or 3, not an R30. Your specs are out to hell. Engine: L24E (E represents electronic fuel injection) 2393 cc SOHC 6 cyl 12 valve Power: stock 93.4 Kw @ 5600 rpm Torque: stock 179 Nm @ 4400 rpm Max Weight: 1250 Kg There has never been an L26E or L28E, in Australia to the best of my knowledge, as both Z cars were carburetted. You forgot about L16B, L18B & L20B, all 4 cyl SOHC 8 valve engines that came out in Datsun 1600's in the mid 60's, then 180B, 200B. There was only one R30 that came out with a live rear axle and that was the van/station wagon and I have NEVER seen one in Australia. All Australian delivered MR sedans and hatches came out with R180 open diffs, 3.9:1 ratio. DR & HR series Japanese Imports came out with R200 LSD's 3.9:1 ratio. Will post again later if I find anymore anomylies
  18. The standard R30 Ti alloy rim was 15 x 6 & +25 offset My Monza rims are 16 x 8 & +38 offset So I would assume the 17's are x 7 and so long as the offset is +38 or less all should be cool. Having said that, there are a lot of R30's getting around with R31 Silhouette rims on them.
  19. Geez! I must be in the wrong forum, I thought Sydney Skyline drivers & SAU members were an intelligent lot. Ladies & gentlemen & others, all this crap started from a comment I made about what it could take to beat a zed. The comment: "Don't necessarily need a GTR to beat a zed, just a good balanced car and a good steerer. The question is, is there any better than John on the day". "Just about anybody is capable, on their day" Now we have someone telling me how much of a dickhead I am and how lousy a driver I am. Maybe someone should have a look in the mirror and say hello to an ignorant, self opiniated, know it all, imbecile, that I would dearly love to see how fast he is around a similar piece of bitumen (O P's South Circuit) How close can you get to 50 secs? As I said, "a good balanced car and a good steerer". Let's go back a few years to the mid to late 60's, if you weren't around in those days Andrew, look up the history. Two, THEN! little known aussies designed and built their own cars, powered by a 3.0L Repco V8 engine that was by far ahead of it's rivals. The first of these two persons was none other than Sir Jack Brabham, and he took this combination to 2 world titles, beating THE VERY BEST the world could assemble against him, the other was Frank Matich and he took his own designed Matich SR3 sports car to America and competed in The Can-Am series finishing in the top half of the field, every time he started. Up against the might of Ford and the GT40, Chev's Chapparal, Lola's etc, etc a collection of the world's best sports cars with engine capacities sometimes exceeding 7.0L. All this after dominating sports car racing back at home in Australia for over 5 years, and later F5000. There are probably outright lap records still standing of his, at some circuits and that was 30 + years ago And in more recent times Gibson Motorsports "Bluebird & DR30 Skyline" both GIANT KILLERS in their own right, beating and finishing ahead of more V8's than were in front of them. WHAT WERE THESE, if they weren't "good balanced cars with good steerers"???? A number of videos & tests exist that show a GOOD GTS25t is better than a GTR, as they are much lighter and better balanced than your typical GTR. What's to say that someone won't turn up in a GTSt with about 300+rwhp and knows their way around Wakefield Park and puts your GTR's to shame. If I had the time and inclination to organise it, I reckon I could assemble a few cars that would knock John off his pedestal, they might not be Nissans, but would still do the job. Could be Nissan Powered and N/A, not TURBO. As I gather John's Zed is an Z32 and a sports car, not a touring car, how you think he will go up against a PRB Clubman, with 4AGE 20V's, or SR20's in them, they go around Wakefield Park in 1.02 minutes and Neil Bates managed a 59.89 sec lap. How do you think John would handle them apples and these are simply, "GOOD BALANCED CARS with GOOD STEERERS" As for my skills, your right, I have never driven Eastern Creek, Wakefield Park, or the current Oran Park circuits, but similarly, you might find yourself all at sea on tracks like Warwick Farm, Catalina, Amaroo Park and Hume Weir. I would like to see your efforts FIRST TIME OUT on these tracks, you might have to refer back to your video clip for instruction. When I get my little toy finished I plan on using Wakefield & Oran Park tracks to set it up, so after a couple of hours on each I am sure I will have sorted out the pitfalls in both car and track Your low res video clip was entertaining, can you drive better than you point a camera????? the pictures of the dash and floor were very entertaining. Remember! not everybody is the same, not everybody goes out with the attitude of the driver in the video, some people have the intelligence to drive a track first at a speed within their capabilities before going for it. He made comments like "a little bit of drift here" a number of times. By the way you have attacked me here, you most certainly must relate to his mentallity, particularly as you have NO IDEA who your talking to. My 180B and I had done a number of events at Oran Park before I set the time I did and that only happened after the Selby brothers had the car for a week, at their workshop at Planthurst Rd Carlton NSW, setting up the suspension and balance of the car. A set of Dunlop Green Spots helped with a few seconds as well. Prior to this I campaigned an Austin A30 with both A & B series engines in it over time. Why don't you read the comment and DIGEST it's content, before you go running off at the mouth trying to justify exactly what I said in the first place. And your black jesus crack didn't go over my head, you will have to get up early to get something past me. Have a nice day!
  20. And my point being: The quickest car in the club in 74 was a 240Z and I had a series production 180B SSS. But the Zed couldn't get close to me this day. And to enlighten you, the short circuit was the ORIGINAL track, when you came off the straight into CC Bend, then the SSS's, then Robin Orlando, then Dufor Dogleg, then into the Dipper before Energol Corner onto the straight. I don't swing dick, but I've been about motorsport probably longer than your old. But as it's 30 years on, I might need a lot of practice, but half a decent steerer on his day can beat nearly anybody, so long as the car is up to the task. Maybe it's as you say, most of the people on here aren't up to the task, driver or car, but it's only most! not all.
  21. In July '74 I put down a 49.6 around Oran Park's short circuit, during a lap dash event with Datsun Driver's Club, so! where does that put me?
  22. Don't necessarily need a GTR to beat the Zed, just a good balanced car and a good steerer, the question is, is there any better than John on the day. Just about anybody is capable, ON THEIR DAY.
  23. If needed I am going to try the new Hawk, but first I will use a Factory ECU that came from an R32 GTSt that had a RB25DET dynoed @ 245rwkw. The Hawk fitted and running will be about $2000.00
  24. If you try getting in touch with EFI Hardware www.efihardware.com they have a programmable ECU (HAWK) and has been working on plug & play systems. The Hawk has had some pretty good reviews from Zoom when they last did a comparison. Cost is only $1300.00 or there abouts, but don't know if anyone does them in Adelaide. They seem to be Haltec mad in Adelaide.
  25. There was some discussion on Skylines Downunder until the KIWI's got all funny. Probably because it is their forum, but were out numbered by aussies, on all forum topics excluding NZ. But absolutely nothing like this thread. And there was a Nissan Skyline - Paul Newman sales publication on ebay the other day, that I think I beat crimmo to. By the sounds of the advert, it may have some interesting info in it that I will post. Things like "wind tunnel tests" etc, on all 1983 > R30 models including DR's & HR2000GT ES & 4 dr's & Hatch 2000GT E etc.
