Lets get this right.. you totally removed the WG from the car, then drove it. and the thing still wants to overboost with a great hole in the side of the manifold where the WG is spose to be? If that is the case, you have some issues.. Like the guys above said, really bad timing and to much fuel.. or extremely poor WG pick up port. I had the wastegate port issue on an ebay manifold. Totally crap pick up port. moved it, rewelded it 3 times, and then ported the daylights out of it to find out i had to move it yet again... Would have been quicker to build a proper one from srcatch!

dont jump on me, but i only skim read the whole thread.. but i didn't see anybody say anything about the pipe FROM the WG. 1 got a 3040 with a 45 turbentics WG which gave me heaps of issues until i got my head around it. Feeding the WG is a 40 IDmm pipe from the collector. I originally had a 40mm dump screamer.. all worked well. When i plumbed it back into the exhuast, things went crazy.. like heaps of overboost. I PM'ed everybody and nobody had a clue.. so i trialed and errored! I finally found that i needed a bigger dump from the WG. I ran a heap of sizes.. 42, 45, 48 and now 50mm. It made no sence until i talked to a speedway guru who has a 26/30 turbo setup. He said this.. Low boost causes the biggest WG issues (in bigger HP situations). It means you NEED to bypass heaps more exhaust gass. Higher boost doesn't require as much gas bypass. simple enough.. But, he went onto say that the gas coming from the WG is tumbling, not flowing.. when you join it back into the system that already has some back pressure, that causes flow reversion against the WG. That will slow up the flow though the WG. All bad! Wack on a bigger WG dump pipe and all smoothens out, due to the tumbling flow now having space to actually flow.. This may not be the actual science behind his thoery.. but it worked a treat for me!

Sydney kid made a few good points.. has anybody thought a little out side of this box though? What i mean is that the intake manifold is heated and so is the throttle body. So, wrapping the pipe probably wont do a lot for you.. If you live in tropical Queensland (like me), I bypassed the the throttle heater(not advisable if u live in snow, cos the throttle MAY stick!). That made a HUGE difference. the cruise intake temps went from around 78 degrees down to 45ish. Now to do the manifold is a different story. My point is this, IF you are really concerned about dropping more temp, then wrapping the IC pipping is way down on the list. I wrapped my intake pipe ages ago in beer coolers, after i turned them inside out! I had it originally covered in fibreglass wrap which drove me made EVERYTIME my arm went into the engine bay.. so i swapped them. The pipe is cooler, looks ok in black and has shown zero signs of heat damage of any kind! That said, I only noticed the smallest of improvement, and that was from cruise onto boost. I put this down to slower moving air that got heat soaked.. but that still doesnt really add up. If your pipe looks crappy, then dont use beer coolers, go the wet suit option. but try it out, i already had 20 or so beer coolers.. didnt cost me a single $ to find out! That help anybody?

harder spring does help.. the high vacuum loads pull the valve partly open. if you cant find or buy one, you can shim it! I have seen coins used on shitty little BOV's before, and they do work. So, if nothing else.. go washer hunting

Col, I'm 99% sure that the S14 didn't get anything over the 370cc which was the same as theRB25det maybe my other freind is a bit colour blind, cos he thought his were/are red! ok.. that answers that for me. Thanks guys! So, anybody got a spare 2 purple injectors?
-
Lots of people have lots and lots of stuff to say about BOV's, now, when u ask performance.. do u mean: A: how much air the BOV moves while it open, or B: the perfomance of the vehicle as far as horsepower gain/loss? Most off-the-shelf BOV's are poor or just useless as far as air flow is concerned. When u consider how much air your engine consumes at high revs, then how long the throatle is shut while u shift gear. it scary! I know at 6500rpm my engine sucks in about 200L of air in a second. so if the throatle is shut for one second, to do the job right, i would think the BOV needs to move 200L or air in a second.. does that cheap junky thing most buy do that? Now think about why turbo cars are fitted with BOV's to start with from the factory. They fitted them to make the car quieter and to help maintain a smooth ride during gear shift, not jumping or poping or fluttering. I am sure all car makers know what works, and would have spent lots of money double checking it, so copy their lead! As for car performance.. I am yet to see anybody who can prove any of the following: A: that fitting a BOV makes the car faster or gain HP B: fitting a plumb back or vented BOV increases HP C: swapping from one BOV to another kind of BOV increases HP. D: a flow bench test to prove how much air the BOV flows! Ask any retailer.. they dont know! but then again, I may be wrong..

They are supposed to be stock S15 turbo, and they are purple. I know of a stock, turbo S15 that has Red injectors.. ehh? I thought they were 440cc but i have read stuff that said they were 480cc. arrrgghhh.. can anybody help..? the injector size doesn't really matter that much.. 440 or 480. but the colour does. I need to know if: A: is purple one of the bigger injectors B: are there other colours that are big as well
-
yea.. i don't think anybody said they were all 'good' lines! lol but there are some VERY tough machines up there

Thanks a million for your info Chook. It added lots of info that we didn't have in some area's, and my mate already had info from somewhere else. between what i found, he had and u sent, he was able to build up a very tight box. In his words: 'that thing is now good for about 500 all wheel HP'. he also wanted me to pass on his gratitude for sharing info. The box has been in the car for over a week now, been roadtested and dyno'ed(minus front shafts) and nobody has rung! A massive thanks to all..

big baby got burnt good! aww.. (pats ur submissive head) now.. what we gonna do next time.. I have a plan! but that will surely change 15 times before next skid session. lol I have idea's from Lars.. and Bruce.. and Leigh. anybody else wonna throw their 3 cents worth into the equation?

My mate is looking at injectors from the S15. We have dug around for a bit and found a whole bunch of conflicting info. Can one of you bright sparks please help us out.. Looking for the colour/colours of the Turbo S15 injectors in stock form. He has a set of 4 purple injectors, but are they S15 or S14? He is also looking for 2 more if they are in fact the 440cc. or are they 480cc? Thanks guys

slaves? ehh? Ur a slave to your own will, all be it that u willingly subject yourself to a known addictive activity like skidding. So, for you to say that i slaved u for some mear minutes is kinda odd.. ..but u enjoy your filthy bad habbit and make damn sure that now u know that everybody else now knows that I am declaring you a skid addict. If it was not for this shocking disease, I would not know any of you! So just come out now and admit it to your self.. its the first step mate. LOL last time i thank ur sorry butt in a public domain!

Falcon.. HQ.. aaawww. thought there were some nice cars in bundy!. y bring the crap ones..?
-
I wouldn't be so full of yourself Kody, I seem to remember Warren taking your car for a spin and beating your time in your car.. and he had never driven it before! Now that has gotta suck X10! beating me should have been really easy. I couldn't feel anything below my knee and the Doc swore at me when i told him what i did on the weekend! on the other hand.. He was not surprised. Not only could I not feel much, It hurt(and still does) to pull my foot back.. So, if you couldn't beat me, you should have gone home and cut up your car and ur permission to drive! lol!
-
I had work in the northern regions to do on the weekend just gone.. Some of the guys from one of my skid crews gave me a help, and some laughs. I thought it only be fitting that i spread the love. So thanks to Kody, Paul and Jake who all live in bundy! Thanks for the help, and thanks for helping me pass some time while i was waiting between jobs.. It just goes to show, U meat people in all sorts of places, from all walks of life, sometimes all with one similar interest. (in this case, skidding!) I would have never of met them without the help of: 1: 3intheback for asking me to tell everybody on the forum about our skid days.. 2: the skid days.. 3: this forum! So, get off ya butt, go to some stuff with other skyline nutters and enjoy your car and yourself. You just never know when you can help somebody out of a jam.. or if your selfish like me, when they can help you out! go on.. do it now! lol
-
well, due to gympie's geography, it is technically a hole.. so I guess it stands to fair reason that caravans find it hard to lug their lard butts outta here! I was in Gladstone on sat for work.. saw so much crap up there.. couldn't be bothered telling u all about it. Nothing of great stupidity though.
-
Well, I'm NOT goin to wish you happy birthday.. Now that ur in ur late 20's, its time u stopped acting like a kid and grow up! No more forum chating.. gone are the days of with messing with cars u cant really afford.. stop buying stuff u don't need to impress guys u dont know.. Finished are the late nights and skinned knuckles.. and most of all, stop skidding ur car! U havn't learnt much yet have ya? Naaaaaaaarrrgghhh who am I kidding? I got a few on u, and i still act like i'm 21 and bullet proof, 3intheback is another older generation again.. and still hasn't worked on him yet! So mate, good luck doing EVERYTHING you love to do! Love your work.. see u in May!
