  1. just to add some fuel to this fire. m speed. well known japanese circuit racing competitor. they are among the fastest ever cars to compete in the tsukuba time attack events running in the 54second bracket. they run a wet sump... they have no sump extension (but I believe they run a swinging pickup). and they do run a drain from the rear of the head BUT to my eyes it's pointing towards the intake side of the engine. any comments? they certainly haven't had any problems i've seen, not breathing any oil or blowing any motors.
  2. well gltooy, we may not always agree 100% on things but well done on going for what you want. hopefully it works out for you mate. best of luck in georgia.
  3. f*kc off. as if that will not be the new coolest brisby story. heaps better than the falling off a balcony story that is currently in the number one spot. just imagine the kudos troy! "i thought I could take it flat in top gear...but......" flat through eau rouge or bust I say. in fact if you don't do it or die trying then don't bother coming back to this proud country. if mark webber can do it. you can do it. go get 'em tiger.
  4. if we are serious and checking tyre temps and pressures there is no cool down lap. warm up lap, on it lap, on it lap, into pits, quick as possible measurements then back out for cool down/warm up lap again. no point wasting 2 minutes wrecking the data toodling around on a cooling lap. I'm sure richard did the same.
  5. one other point. importing a GTR as a personal import is not really a good idea since all models can be imported via sevs easily. pick something that can not be imported via sevs, baring in mind you can only import 1 car in any 12 month period if planning to do a PI. bring in a nice late model NSX or NSX-R. australia needs more of them. we need more 32 GTRs like a hole in the head! they are already worth less here than they are to import (most of the time).
  6. the pan speed car is a winner for sure. but that thing is so farking loud. even for a rotor it's mental. I remember seeing it at tsukuba and I thought I'd watch one session from up in the stands. the whole stand literally shook as it came around and I was deaf for about 2 days. a hot japanese girl asked me if I wanted a blow job and I said no thanks cause I thought she said 'get a real job'... the only jap circuit car I've heard that's as loud is the tracey sports nsx. I swear those two cars are not just running without mufflers, they must have added some kind of 'loudener'.
  7. have a look at DP1 cars bikini. or http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm it's not exactly new. there have been motorbike engine based V8s for a few years now.
  8. it better be either spa, nurb, or the 'stone.....
  9. he is also in recent times (retirement) a well known driving instructor and has been for years. i've driven with him a number of times. in his driving days he's also done well in formula atlantic and touring car classes.
  10. i wouldn't bother contacting apexi. why would they care if their ecu doesn't work with a non supported, 3rd party application?!?! if anyone he should be contacting datalogit.
  11. did you read my post? like I said it's a combination of things. they can make them look however they want. and offset has nothing to do with the curve of the spoke. offset is the position of the rim over the centre of the hub. so the spokes could attach to the bloody inside of the rim if you wanted and you could have giant dish and still have a 'tough' offset of say +12. or you could have the spokes attached to the outside of the rim and have an offset of +45. maybe learn a little about how wheels are made and measured using good or wiki or whatever and you will understand.
  12. lol, my RX7 gets parked on the 3rd basement level down from ground. when it's idling on the timer and I hop in the lift to go up to my apartment I can hear it running all the way up to the top floor and from the lift to my front door! neighbours must loooove it. and it's a turbo so is pretty quiet by rotor standards...
  13. agree that at OP GP everything from turn 2 until you get up on the bridge is mickey mouse. stop go turn. and the difference there between a top driver and a hack will be bugger all. but once you nail it off the bridge it's all fun from there to turn 1 which is about 2/3s of the lap. I do like EC too, it is nice and flowing but I just get more excitement out of OP. maybe thats because it is a bit low grip, and there are a lot of walls, and you do need a few short cuts, and there are a few nasty curbs to hop etc. plus exiting the last corner onto the straight wondering if you have judged it right or are you going to wipe off the mirror on the wall keeps you on your toes. the corner off the bridge and the flip/flop are great and turn 1 and into 2 is one where those with the balls will make big time on the pussys (like me) who can't carry the mega speed into there.
  14. dazmo has it. I was only relaying the fact that garth told me the gains in time that were made were from setting up the different centre diff control maps in the motec. he didn't say anything about the vipec so I don't know if it helped or not, but when he was talking about improving the car he talked about the sus setup and the motec diff set-up. anyway i've made far too big a deal about it now, and I didn't doubt the truth that there was a vipec in there somewhere too. so I will shut up I promise. for all I really know he has a motec in there for the power windows and subwoofer bass map control and the vipec is running the ac and dual screen TV set-up and the actual engine is using points igntion and a dirty big carb with a blow through turbo set-up. besides all that nonsense I would reckon the biggest factor in the cars pace would be the nut behind the wheel. garth is a bloody handy driver and could probably place well at superlap in a billy kart. and having his help setting up the suspension and the motec maps for the diff wouldn't hurt. now back to atomic bummerman's RB26. need more amazing pics. specially the daz pics. but no wanger pics please. still scarred from the ones you pmd me daz.
  15. lol, you don't know who kevin bartlett is. forshame...
  16. clockwise track? the lefts look really good. right rear pretty good too, though obviously not working as hard overall and right front not bad, but spread is a fair bit wider. pretty sexy piece of gear. thanks for sharing big fella.
  17. it's a combination of all of the above, diamter, width and offset and what they call 'face' too. they make different wheels for different models and change the curve of the spokes and how the spoke meets the rim to get the look they want.
  18. they are 280mm diameter. from memory 30mm thick. but yeah, just order "slotted front rotors for R32 GTST" and you will get what you're after...
  19. i'm trying to remember, but i think it was about 15% bigger. they are basically the same width but the brembo pad was taller.
  20. how much have you been quoted for the whiteline and cusco bars? in my experience the cusco bars were very good. i've tried both. they also come with new backets and bushes and they are literally half the weight of the whiteline ones. off the top of my head the cusco bars are about $320 or so. I agree that not having the adjustment is a bit of a downer, but to be honest once I was happy with the balance I never had a need to re-adjust my whiteline ones...
  21. I have seen and heard 787B in japan when they wheel out the old cars at meets and they look and sounds just amazing. love it.
  22. congratulations mate. good news on the little girl. now for a name... hmm.
  23. looks and sounds great. should be mighty fast when sorted.
