  1. combined with adjustable UCA, or the 10mm shorter ones merli has you can get heaps. like more than 5 degrees neg which is about all you'd ever want.
  2. yep, providing they still have decent tread then go with the RE55s. if they are fairly worn, go with the RE01s.
  3. no, they are different. not by a huge amount, but they are different enough that I wouldn't use one on the other. just buy the correct ones.
  4. oop, that was me posting as fatz. anyway what I meant to say: mark berry just called. he said stop being a big girl. there is nothing to worry about. if things get back your shiny tie rod ends will just smash their way into your LCAs, just like standard...
  5. best thing to do in manly? hop on a ferry to the city and leave.... takes only about 15min each way.
  6. if there is a top secret part on that car it is VERY secret cause I've never found one... had a good look over that car a number of times. not really a fan of all the dr!ft logos all over the interior.... certainly some questionable taste. the car overall is not bad, but I would have thought they could have chosen better. like Blitz said that car has been no where near top secret japan and was built in aus.
  7. well lucky you caught the guy, unlucky you have now been charged and convicted of assault. I will give you one piece of advice. whenever you are dealing with police in a criminal matter and you may have done something wrong, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING. DO NOT AGREE TO BE INTERVIEWED. DO KEEP YOUR SOLICITORS NUMBER WITH YOU. and DO CALL YOUR SOLICITOR AT THE FIRST AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY. Basically in an interview even if you are only trying to prove your innocence you can and most likely will incriminate yourself to some degree. unless you are absolutely 100% blameless then you will never exonerate yourself in a police interview, you will only either incriminate yourself a little bit, or a lot. I think had you thought carefully about what you said to the attending officers, and had you sought legal advice before making a statement then most likely you would not have been charged and almost certainly would not have been convicted. as it stands you've lost out. I was recently involved in an armed robbery in the convenience store beneath my apartment in the city. I was outside when a girl ran passed saying "there's a guy with a gun in the convenience store" I didn't want to go in, but when I got close I could hear the store worker getting bashed and he was screaming. He had fought back and the gun was on the ground and the robber was on top of him bashing him behind the counter. I ran in and king hit the bloke and he rolled off, the convenience store worker grabbed a bottle and smashed it on the blokes head, then picked up the gun and ran! as the robber got up I decked him again and he went down, so off I went too, we shut the door behind us and now the bloke was trapped. he was pulling at the door for a bit, then gave up and went inside and came back with a pole. he then proceeded to smash through the glass door, so we opened it and gave him a nice kick through the door. he then got up and charged past us but luckily we were able to tackle him and restrain him with help from a few bystanders who finally put down their mobile phone cameras to f*kcing help us. anyway police arrived thinking the convenience store worker was in on it as the gun was stuffed down the back of his pants! I got advice, made a statement and it worked out ok, but it could have gone bad. the robber claimed he was a razor blade salesman who was there to sell razor blades (yeah at 9:30pm on a friday night) and that the deal went wrong and the convenience store worker pulled the gun on him!! and that we then both bashed him. luckily his bullshit didn't hold and luckily he didn't have aids (as i was covered in his blood). but if they'd bought even part of his story I could have been in deep shit just for helping someone out. so whenever dealing with the law, be careful.
  8. lol, good stuff. glad I somehow 'fixed' it for you. garth sure is a top driver and shows just how much skill you need to drive one of those things at 10/10ths. the speed of reactions needed to keep it on the ragged edge is intense. before I went out with him, I thought, fk this, I'd rather be driving it than sitting on the wrong side. afterwards my eyes were opened. I would need a fair bit of time and instruction in one to get close to the kind of pace he gets out of one. and even then i doubt i have anywhere near enough talent...
  9. hopefully mark or russ will chime in, or justin, or dave. they all have ikeya front LCAs and a couple have the tierod ends too. but i don't think any of them have done anything to it and to my knowledge none of them have had any problems.
  10. hmmm, well that is what normally happens, the tie rod end contacts the bump on the lca. but to get there would be like 2 full turns of the wheel or more. never going to get anywhere near that on the track. having driven a few cars now with the ikeya tie rod ends and the lca's i've never felt anything like that. I think probably the best idea would be to weld on a little stop if it's a concern. don't even have to weld one you could fashion one out of some alloy and retain it with a hose clamp or similar. and again, in an accident scenario I don't think those stops will save anything. as the tie rod smashes into it something's going to break. stop or no stop. I do agree it would probably be good if there was one, but they must have a reason for leaving it off. I will ask them about it.
  11. fair enough. 2530 should do what you want.
  12. check out the nismo ones too. it's just a very small bump in the arm. you could get something added pretty easily if you want.
  13. I've tried the 2530s on SR20 and they are pretty good. but to be honest I'm not sure why you asked peoples advice and then tell them you're only interested in 2 turbos? you need to open your mind a bit if you want some advice. currently for that kind of application I love the little trust turbo. currently running a T518Z on my SR20 (obviously with power FC, profec E-01 EBC, Z32 MAF, 550cc injectors, fuel pump, stainless mani, fmic etc). it puts out 235rwkw at only 17psi or so. excellent response. not sure how much more power it would make with more boost (i suspect not much), but the response and torque is very good.
  14. no prob. they cost f**k all. a pack of smokes would just about cover a pair of them! hell if you need them they're free.
  15. just to clear one thing up, I only mentioned what garth told me paul AFTER you brought it up in here. I would never have mentioned it in here otherwise, but you came in here and posted about them using vipec. I do and did believe you, I was just relaying what the driver (tuner?) of the car said, and he told me that part of the cars success came from the time he spent tuning the centre diff maps in the motec. apparently it has maps for the AWD split and can be infinitely tuned based on a whole bunch of parameters. so he can set up how much front drive he wants under 0 throttle, braking conditions with road speed say above 100kph, and a diffferent one with the same conditions but with road speed below 100kph, and he can set up another split with say, TPS above 50% and a certain amount of steering angle on (ie post apex cornering) and another one for 100% throttle and low steering angle up to say 100kph, and then have it back to rwd above a certain speed etc. maybe he has got it wrong and the vipec can do all that stuff? if so that is very impressive.
  16. my 2c. go the 10.5. you'll find RE55s are bigger in any given size than a road tyre. ie the 265 RE55 is wider than a 265 goodyear eagle F1. it will be fine on the 10.5 and will fit nicely on your 34. if you really want the 9.5 though it wont pose any problems on that rim either.
  17. well fck you carnts then. lol.
  18. let me ask you this. in driving on the track (or anywhere other than parking manoeuvres) how often do you hit the LCA to limit steering? my answer would be never. all the factory steering stop is is a piece of the LCA that sticks out a bit. yes, without it you now have the potential for more lock (too much) but will you ever use it? I don't think so. john reckons it could be an issue in an accident but if it's that bad an accident that it's slamming the tie rod into the LCA stopper then i'm not sure how much difference there will be with or without that little protrusion. personally I wouldn't worry about it, but it certainly would be possible to add something. check out the stock LCA. they are not that different. I'm not sure how much more the stock LCA protrudes to stop steering angle...
  19. bump. really want to sell this. i bought it as a gift for a mate, but i've had a change of ideas.
  20. yes you should unless you want fuel spraying into the cylinders. take it out while the engine is idling so that the engine uses up whatever fuel is in the rail etc, otherwise when you do the test the injectors will open and release that fuel which is under pressure in the rail/lines/etc.
  21. well no matter what you spend it's a bargain if your winning and a rip off if you're loosing. the problem comes when you do the latter for many years with none of the former. then people tend to pull out.... (honda?).
  22. hey daz man, I just had another quick view through the thread. I love it. can you tell me what is the current power output? and I'd to look at a dyno graph if you have on just to check out the curve. you happy with the 2530s? are they the HKS ones or garret equivalents? I'm torn. I've always been a big believer in the merits of the HKS only housings that they add to the generic garret turbos but some people seem to get better results from the cheaper garrets. my set-up is actually fairly similar to yours in some ways with similar size fuel system but minus the 2.8 and dry sump sadly. makes me look like a tight bastard!! but mine is still a fast street/slow track. car.
  23. garth walden told me they run motec in the evo that won at superlap last time? not trying to be a smart arse, but that is just what he told me when talking about it. it has some fancy shit in it that helps make that car so successful. I would hope he knows since he was driving the thing and said he was setting it up too.
  24. that is weird? what did they do to your poor baby!!!
  25. bummer. what a f**king hassle for a loose connection.
