  1. you cannot blast it back to factory finish. once it's painted it can't go back to the factory grey, because when you blast it it removes and marks the top layer of rubber and it will look terrible if not painted. just paint it grey black, black stonguard type paint it good. I did my 32. it had been painted white, and some of the white paint flaked off. Got it done in a grey textured paint that looks very very close to factory finish. i've also done my grey GTR lip back to factory style finish as it was painted body colour too and looked pretty average. the silver GTR i had already had the lip in factory style finish. looked awesome. S3 lip too.
  2. nice 23rd run. ni-san. nissan. noice. so you did it on the nissan run. of course.
  3. that's what I'm talkin bout. do you see what I'm getting at...
  4. well if you like V8 noise (who doesn't) and have a keen interest in burnouts, smoke shows, dohnuts, stoppies and any other gay name for turning tyres then the commodore is the winner. it will have modest power, but that will be plenty to overwhelm the crappy suspension geometry and the nankangs. so you can smoke some crap rubber whenever you please. but the interior is low rent, the body looks very ordinary steering feels like it's being done by remote control and the gearbox is crap. apart from that it's a lovely automobile. if you want something cool and V8 get a nice charger, or a VL group A walkinshaw plastic pig some thing that actually looks and sounds kick ass.
  5. that's what I was thinking, but they don't really have a detailers down stairs and a body shop upstairs. it could be hillermans? I think they are set out like that, kind of.
  6. crap, can you order me one too ferni? should be a bit cheaper. I'll send you cash now. if not, no big deal I'll go it alone!
  7. I don't know what the big drama is. pro-engines make them. by all accounts they are a top product that greg designed and made after seeing growing need for a kit so people could build their own RB30s for GTR. call him up, send him some money and you are under way
  8. oh and DSG have been around for at least 30 years that I know of. porsche used them in racing cars back in the day and I'm sure there were plenty of others too.
  9. ok, shauns explanation was more in depth than mine. d'oh. I think shaun is the only guy who knew what I was saying all along
  10. lol, that's exactly what i've been saying... CVT not good. conventional auto not good. DSG very good. DSG is completely different like I said, mainly in that the next gear is already engaged so shifts can be ultra fast. why does everyone seem to think I have something against DSG?!?! all along I've been saying DSG is excellent and I hope that is what it has.
  11. well my only advice is get the hang of the yen! 150Kyen is $1500 AUD atm. for that money there are only two choices I reckon. Shinjuku Park Hyatt or the Roppongi Hyatt. but I'm assuming you meant 15Kyen which is about $150 a night which is a pretty modest budget for either shinjuku or shibuya or any of the good spots in central tokyo. if you can extend to sort of $180-$200 there will be much more options available. $150 a night will get you a hotel in a good location, but it's likely to be a business hotel, and a pretty old one at that.
  12. well done. 9 second GTR is a big effort.
  13. if it's for street then forget the DS2500s. endless SSS will be good for your plan. very quiet and not too dusty.
  14. start calling some wreckers/parts importers across Aus. also find someone with a trade account at nissan $1220 is crazy money for those bits. you could probably get someone in aus to make you one for less than that!
  15. lol, and I don't know much to begin with either. alright, I'll hold off on sending my money to seppos for the moment. If I'm not too lazy tonigt i'll trace out one of the factory brembo shims for you. and if you feel inclined sus out what Ti sheet is worth. I'm not sure on thickness? maybe 1mm or 1.5mm.
  16. sounds good, but I reckon buy the time we buy some titanium sheet in the right thickness, then your time to cut them out, and we need 2 per caliper I reckon even if you did it at cost and donated your time free it would be a $100 proposition. what do you reckon pete? I don't even know anywhere that sells titanium sheet.
  17. actually that's a good point. If we order a few postage should be a lot cheaper. so anyone want some?
  18. definately don't spend $1220 on a new CW and pinion. you can surely buy a whole 34 GTR diff for about $500 or $600.
  19. definately magic beans, but the price is right!
  20. well my finger is poised on the buy button. but before I blow $100 on the brake equivelant of magic beans does anyone else have something to add?
  21. yeah absolutely. pads and disks can withstand much more heat than any brake fluid. plus they have opportunity to shed that heat. where as once fluid is heated it's near impossible to quickly and effectively cool it down again. fluid at it's best can only take about 300degrees, but in practice I'd say 250+ and things go bad. pads can go up to about 800 and rotors probably 5 or 600.
  22. I got this info: Hi, Thanks for the information. We don't get many Skyline's over here so we were not aware that there were some sumitomo caliper applications there. Our D960 shim fits the brembo calipers. If you could give us some more specifics about the sumitomo (such as a major brake pad manufacturer's part #) we could look at making a shim for that. We do ship to Australia, Priority Mail International is $21.95. I notice that you just have one part number which says 89-95 GTR, over those years (basically 1994 on) the type of brake caliper being used was changed. Some models run sumitomo 4 piston calipers and some run Brembo 4 piston calipers, those different calipers have a different pad size. Can you tell me which caliper is your part suitable for? Also, could you please give me a shipping price to Sydney, Australia. Thank you, Richard
  23. quite possibly you have an air leak somewhere around the plenum. very common occurance on older 26's. symptoms are high idle (that cannot be made lower with factory adjustment) and occaisional missfire, and sometime popping/backfiring on gear change. unfortunately it's a pretty expensive fix to replace a $30 part as there is lots of labour involved in replacing the inlet manifold gaskets. when it's running just spray some water around the inlet manifold gasket areas and if there is a change you have an air leak.
