  1. yeah troy, what have you done for me lately??!?!?! I emailed them too this morning asking whether their backing plates are for GTR sumitomo or GTR brembo. my guess is that they will say "both". which is not very good.
  2. yeah, I think the plan is I would ditch the current shim sandwhich and just run the ti shims. but is 1 ti shim better than 3 allu ones? I would love to get some made here. but I don't know a friendly laser cutting shop (well my friends father owns one in japan). I don't know where to buy ti sheet, and I couldn't do a cad drawing to save my nuts.
  3. surely you jest?!?! I mean look at the fking thing. and the diagrams... ooooh swirling air.... just get out a $100 note and set it on fire. you will get all of the benefits of a hi-con with the potential for engine damage.
  4. you need some clear silicone hose. about 8mm off the top of my head. I don't think bunnings will cut it though
  5. conventional autos, and CVTs are VERY different to DSG guys. I don't know what most supercars these days use buy I can't think of many of the top of my head using DSG, but there must be some.
  6. well they are basically $100AUD delivered for a set. the only thing that worries me is that they list the same part for "skyline GTR 89-95". I have GTR brembos on my 32 so I don't want to end up with a sumitomo pad sized shim as the brembo pads are taller.
  7. well I currently have the stock 3 piece ones. one solid full size. one vented half size and one solid half size from memory. anyone who has seen them will know what I mean. I'm just wondering will these be better than the current shim sandwhich I have?
  8. ok, I've been thinking about this for a while. one of my biggest problems with the old set-up on the 32 GTR was heat transfer into the brake fluid. I used good fluid, good pads, good rotors, braided lines, removed heat shiels etc, but I would always end up cooking the fluid during a track day. The car stopped fine with the stock gear, but it generated too much heat for my fluid to handle. I have heard of people using titanium shims behind the pads to combat this. does it work? I seem to remember Roy uses them, anyone else? http://www.takspeed.com/tispeed/index.php?...;products_id=40
  9. pro engines in ACT. proven to be good. on the forum as proengines or pro engines.
  10. that blows. I cant see why someone or even how they would steal one wheel nut?! I mean they'd need to be carying a bar and 19mm socket and then why stop at one? whay not take em all, or take 4 off each wheel? I reckon it just fell off. I will try and see if I can get one nut for you.
  11. damn. what shop was it?
  12. well DSG would be awesome. but I would be massively disapointed if they use a CVT like that in the 4 door V35s. I don't think they would though, I mean they don't even put the CVT into the 35 coupes as it's not a sporty option so surely they wont be putting it into the new GTR. DSG or bust.
  13. yeah you're right, he did switch to slicks at the first stop, then wimped out when it got a bit wet. my point is, he should have 1 waited a few more laps before putting the slicks on, then once the choice was made he needed to stick with it. as when he came in to go back to wets that was when the rain was just about to stop hindsight is a wonderful thing, but some smart thinking could have predicted that I reckon. well a few other teams predicted it...
  14. ooookkaaaaay. I have been told that santey clause lives on the moon with cinderella and that they run a massive cock fighting arena up there for rich celebrities. they both sound about equally plausible.
  15. chotto takai desu ne! tell nissan to give you an early adopter discount!
  16. ...or he pooped his race suit. or a seagul smashed through his visor. lol. this has not been webbers year.
  17. Nice work dave! good to see the GTR buck up there and getting quicker all the time. Jeff must be pleased as punch.
  18. I'm pretty damn sure my 32 GTR ones were alloy. well at least the hubs are alloy. and as tacker said, the easiest way is caliper and rotor off, snips out. snip snip snip and bob's your uncle.
  19. well red bull really need some help in the strategy department cause they have really been falling over there lately.
  20. lol, it must be cause you is black. all the 15yo cars I imported and had done in NSW were done with their original belts and passed that way
  21. you never had to change seatbelts in NSW for 15yo imports funkeh. as long as they are dot or e marked they are fine.
  22. there was an interesting point made somewhere that webber was very vocal about hamiltons dodgy safety car antics in the week leading up to the hearing, but when it came time to present he was suddenly very quiet. obivously he decided not to make waves with hamilton and maclaren could this be a sign that there is a deal to be done for webber as hamiltons team mate? could make sense. alonso could feel red bull is the place to go next year. they certainly have some dough behind them to pay him, and their star is on the rise. a full on newey built car, renault engines, and perhaps most importantly he would be gauarenteed of being the No1 head honcho and all praised big kahuna in that team. on the flip side maclaren know webber can drive, and he hasn't really burnt any bridges with them in the past (putting aside the mercedes sports car shit), I'm sure he is not so full of ego that he could handle having a younger team mate who is as quick or quicker than him, plus he would be pretty cheap and free up some cash. he could be a good influence on hamilton. god I hope this is more than just me tugging myself.
  23. yeah you want the car on the ground to check alignment. up on stands is no good. obviously you can jack it up to adjust, but must be on flat ground again to re-check.
  24. muz mate, lovely pic but it either needs to be much smaller, or gone. maximum signature size is 600x150 yours is currently 1024X540...
