  1. simple answer? no.
  2. awesome pics mate. thanks for sharing. I've been longing to see some good pics of one apart for a while. they are a cool design for a small IWG turbo. anyone received and tried a 9180 yet? we have one coming soon and very anxious to see how it goes.
  3. yeah the trick is either buy the hubcentric spacers to suit your hubs(and if possible have an OD to suit your wheels ID - can be tough to match though). otherwise buy a set of hub rings to sit inside the spacer so it'll have an ID to match your hub OD and an OD to match the spacer ID. then you want to hope the spacer OD matches your wheel ID otherwise you'll need another set of rings. my advise, buy the 66.1mm ones that fit your hub properly, then worry about rings if needed.
  4. yeah 5 axis machine would make it much easier and like michael said a 3 axis machine would be fine too. but yeah John is hardcore to have made it on just a basic mill. it's definitely possible to replicate, and the collector is obviously key, but you can discount all the other little tricks and logic behind it too. that's the problem, anyone can copy something but if they don't fully understand it it's all too easy to stuff up the other bits that make it work and end up with something only half as good as the original. still I'd love to see some of the stuff made. I know a few machinists who could probably do something with it. we'll talk later!
  5. yeah me too being an amateur aerodynamicist. I have read a lot and have a fair bit of practical experience with sedans and some open wheelers too (which are a piece of piss compared to the bunky cars we have). yeah big aerofoil wing is fine but as marlin said big trade off in drag v downforce and they can only generate so much before the angle of the wing goes too far and it's in stall. gurney flap adds heaps. as far as the front goes you want an undertray to reduce lift (even better if you can incorporate an upside down type wing shape into it which creates a negative pressure zone - downforce), splitter which helps guide the air where you want it (up and over the car), even front anti-dive plates/carnards help create front downforce and grip. too much rear downforce can be a bad thing in that you end up with high speed understeer (not nice!) but it's pretty easily tunable and to be honest most of our tracks are not fast enough for most to notice anything other than a really bad downforce imbalance. the small imbalances between front and rear downforce don't seem to cause too much grief, but you only need to look at cars with good rear wings through turn 1 at eastern creek to know if they are working or not. same goes for the front aero. lots of time to be gained through T1 at EC with more aero at both ends. anyway, the main point is for a wing on a circuit car the gurney flap is an important tuning tool. should definitely run one or at least try one.
  6. yeah a big part of the downforce comes from that little 20mm flap on the top. it's been tested many times. most of the jap wings (the real ones that work) come without gurney flap for street cars who just want the look without all the drag and with gurney flap for track cars. yes it is adjustable but past a certain angle it will not make any more downforce and the wing will stall. hence you need the flap. if you can't buy one for the wing they are easy to make/have made.
  7. that's what I was getting at. without gurney flap it's not doing nearly as much as it could be. especially with a very flat shape like that. it will be low drag which is good, but low downforce too which is not.
  8. nice one shagger! pull ya finger out and get the car done. don't let low oil pressure stop you like it does dundan. if you need a hand give me a yell. can't promise I will do up your wheel nuts properly, but if a wheel flys off I promise I will say I did them up properly....
  9. agreed!! please add RE55 to stock list. or dunlop direzza 03G. both very popular circuit tyres here in aus. they will definitely sell.
  10. if you like the AD08s try some dunlop Z1 star spec's next time. cheaper and better. I have AD08s on my grey 32 with the 2.7/motec etc and AD07s on the other 32 and the Z1s on the evo and having now driven on all of them extensively I reckon the Z1 are a touch better for a weekend car/occasional track car. very cheap from our friends at tirerack too.
  11. best choice mate. given the other 3 tyres are brand new your best option was to get a single new tyre and you then have effectively 4 new tyres. yes you can get it buffed but they will remove all but 2 or 3mm or tread and it costs money so you'd be paying to have your tyre worn down. you'd then have 1 worn and 3 good tyres. and then when you finally replaced it you'd have 1 new and 3 word tyres... and on and on. far better to bite the bullet now and buy the single new tyre and enjoy 4 new tyres all even again.
  12. nice one Dane! good to see you out in the new beast. you must be loving it mate. nice work behind the wheel too. nothing major going wrong in the cockpit.
  13. no that's what hamilton would say the little homo. he thinks it's funny. ali g was funny 10 years ago and 'is it cause i'm black jokes' were only funny for about 5 minutes.... the really funny joke is how lightly he gets treated by the bar stewards and other officials. and yet he still likes to whinge at every given opportunity. class act.
  14. nice one. at least quinny is a big racing nut and should bring things forward. his R35 targa car at $95K is pretty good too considering it's an aus spec car with road rego. could easily turn it back into a road car and flip it for a profit. or just do the smart thing and race the wheels off it.
  15. ARRRRGGJHHHHHH!!!!!!!! f**ken what the facebook fycken fkity fkity fck!
  16. maybe they are just trying to light a fire under massa's arse? every time he's going no-where the old 'webber at ferrari' rumour comes out....
  17. fk the facebook! just cause some smelly little nerd thinks he's gods gift to the internets suddenly everyone must be on facebook or they have no friends. to top it all the little fcker is somehow worth billions despite having a 'business' that doesn't really generate any income. maybe i'm just bitter. wooosaaa... wooooosaaaaa.
  18. hey dean, good to see you the other day at JEM when I came to catch up with bobby. is the engine back together yet? how do you like the sard surge tank with pumps mounted inside? I'm about to do the same set-up on one of my 32s as i quite like the idea of mounting the pumps inside the surge tank (fuel is good at insulating the noise a bit and also keeps the pumps cool).
  19. for sure. when he's done you should talk to john about all the dies and mandrels he's made for the bits he's making. would be great for you to have them should someone ever want to undertake this kind of set-up again. he's put so much work into all the tooling it's a shame it will most likely only ever lead to one production run being made. I know some of the tool he's made is sacrificial though and gets destroyed/modified as he goes along. can't wait to see more mate.
  20. looking good mate. things are moving along nicely.
  21. are you planning on adding a gurney flap to that wing? if not I'd seriously consider it.
  22. looking good.
  23. mucke is a retard. why on earth he felt the need to 'buzz the tower' is beyond me. at that point clearly the nissan had a problem where as he was relatively unscathed and could have continued fine. sure he could have given him the finger or the fist shake on his way past but he drove right up westbrooks arse waving his fist like he was having a seizure and then totalled his car and the GTR. I agree he should have copped a multi-race suspension for that one. what a moron.
  24. fking zetool. he's such a little cnt. the one time I tip him for a win he comes fking second. cnt!!!
