Urgent: Skidpan Day At Eastern Creek 11th July
Beer Baron replied to black200is's topic in Events Archive
I didn't even know aaron was back running these. hmm, I could be in. will have to suss out what I have on. for those thinking about it, just do it. the eastern creek skidpan shits all over the oran park one. I never go to the oran skid pan as it's just not safe. $150 for 3 hours at EC isn't so bad. it's cheaper than a hooker and heaps more fun. -
bummer dave. well the ol girl put up some solid service! a moments silence pls for daves fallen motor.

Will These Rims Rub?
Beer Baron replied to sigsputnik's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it's not a question anyone can really answer. so many things will affect it. ride height? camber? castor? tyre profile? tyre width (not just stated width, actual width. it varies greatly between brands, and models) all those things have a massive influence on things. 17X9.5 +15 is pushing it. but should be fine depending on how big the tyres are (i would go for 245 or 255 if street tyres, or 235 or 245 if semi slicks). and again wheel alignment makes a big difference. -
Suspension/coilovers For R32 Gtst/gtr
Beer Baron replied to abu's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
no. the fronts will fit so you can use them. but GTR front spring rates and damper rates are generally not suitable for GTST. the rears do not fit as the bottom mounting is different (eye for GTST, fork for GTR). -
my point is the only thing that makes a central 20 ecu a central 20 ecu is the tuning done on it's chip. once you take that out and get a new tune it's just as stock ecu with a chip written by <insert tuners name>.
-
well it wont really make much difference now. may as well just stick with the C20 and emanage. but if say you found someone willing to trade you a stock ecu, and a $100 for your central 20 then go for it.

yeah what it boils down to is me having a bone on for schuey. I'm 26 so I've been wathcing schuey race since I was a pretty young guy basically from my early teens through to know. and I've seen him race at melbourne every year for the last 5 or 6 years. I think 2002 is a stand out for me as schuey won that race and webber came in 5th in his debut. the place went mental when that happend. lots of schuey fans celebrating, and lots of new webber fans converting! I have so many fond memories of watching schuey race at a time when F1 (to me) was a lot more exciting. These last 3 years it seems F1 has gone a bit off. I mean even look back to the late 90s and the drivers all seemed much more willing to risk binning their cars (and often did) to put out quick laps, or big overtaking moves. and schuey was one of the best. I think the racing then seemed much more 'frantic' that seems to be the most appropriate word to sum it up. I was always on the edge of my seat. now adays it's much more to do with strategy and whilst I still love watching the races it's not frantic any more. I'm almost relaxed when watching it. It seems all the movement up and down the field happens gradually, and you know what's coming long before it happens. I reckon forget traction control. bring back slick tyres and more importantly bring back full manual gear changes. maybe even H pattern! it would mean a lot more passing with missed gears etc happening from time to time. maybe I just need to accept the fact that schuey is gone.

well I have no decent answer to that except to say that half your argument centered around ferrari v renault. not alonso v schuey v the world. yeah, perhaps I am a bit harsh on old dirty sanchez, but I can't help but have my sad little man fantasies about schuey and his massive jaw. I guess what shits me is. look at schueys career. he was always at the top of the game. and always great to watch. wet weather??? schuey is the rain freakin master. and I guess I just felt a bit put out that this young talented guy (alonso) came along, and sure won 2 WDCs but people are saying stuff like "he is better than schuey" "the next schuey" "blah blah" and I took offence I mean yeah he's good and had 2 good seasons, but in 06 he beat schuey by about 12 points. and considering schuey pretty much lost 10 in that monaco thing and another 10 in japan, and then had tyre failures in his last race at brazil it was a pretty bloody close run thing. you'd hardly say schuey got smashed, but that's the way everyone was talking it up. 05 was a different story, and a woefull year for ferrari, and schuey too I guess. he DID get smashed by alonso that year with alonso doubling schueys points. but the 2 years before that it was the other way around. so I'd say on balance over the years they raced together schuey dominated alonso, except for 05. alonso is a great driver, but he is so 1 dimensional to me, and so massively camp. I can respect that he is a great F1 driver, but I'll never be a fan.

it may phyiscally look similar but that's about it. i mean, it's the same basic platform. without an emulator you cannot tune it in real time for starters. saying. "it's essentially a PFC" is complete rubbish though. It's far more accurate to say it's a standard ecu with a removeable chip... which it is. you could also say I guess that a power FC is based on factory type computers but there are many, many differences.

yeah like I said I never had anything major done there, but the times I have dealt with them they were great. one example. about 5 or 6 years ago I needed a harness for an HKS turbo timer, BD4s were the only ones who had it. My old man went and picked it up for me (cheap part, maybe $25) and Paul asked him to wait for a minute, went back into the shop and pulled out an english copy of the user manual for the thing (about 20 pages) and it was spiral bound and covered etc and just said, here take it, you might need it. I thought that was nice.

well if you like it that's what's important right...
-
it's a standard ecu that has had a socket soldered onto it so that the eprom can be easily removed and changed. so yes, it's a re-mapped factory ecu.

i don't know what it is about alonso, but I just can't stand the guy. I think his first few years of F1 he was not so hot. he had all the good gear but didn't really do anything with it. I mean in 04 schuey took double the number of points as ferny. 03 was pretty much the same deal. he didn't score any points at minardi. I just think he's a midfield driver (granted the top of the midfield) that's been lucky enough to get into some damn fine cars. sure he beat schuey twice, and at least when gonzo was given his WDC capable car he actually got the job done and won it, but especially schueys last season I would say he easily had gonzo's measure, he just didn't have a reliable car and the monaco thing didn't help either. the fact that alonso is so easily bettered by a rookie team mate shows 2 things. 1. how good the big mac is and 2. how average alonso is.

Train Delays - North Shore, Western & Northern Lines

actually my trip home couldn't have been easier. stuck around at work until about 6:15 and I could see out my window the cahill was pretty clear so I sank a quick beer then got a lift. I drove straight onto the cahill and there was only 2 cars on it heading north! probably one of my quickest trips home in peak hour! nice -
Adjusting Ride Height With Bilsteins?
Beer Baron replied to BAMR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yes you are on the right track, but do the otherside too. -
actually it may be 42 psi, I think it's actually 2.95 bar, but if you can read 2.95 bar on some gauges out there, you have better eyes than me! my point was this guy keeps farken asking the same questions over and over. honestly mate, I say get the car to a mechanic and get them to sort it out. the last thing you want is to balls it up and damage your car.

250 Km From A Full Tank. Dam This Sux
Beer Baron replied to WogsRus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
who cares if the chips cost 20c. you said yourself no-one on your island tunes them so it's not much good to you is it? i mean you are using a cheap signal bender to run your car and wondering why you have bad economy. I would say there is two reasons for the poor economy. 1. driving condition/driving style 2. tuning you don't have to buy a power FC if you don't want it, but it will be doing a much better job that what you have now even right out if it's box. -
like I posted above 3 bar without vacuum. with vacuum it's 3 bar minus whatever vacuum you have (usually around 0.5bar but it varies).

at what RPM are they measuring this 1.9l/m? it seems awfully coincidental that someone touched your turbo (inspected, replaced seals whatever) then 2 days later it failed. I know where I'd be looking.
