Nope he doesn't work there. It still hasn't been pushed hard yet as its had a few issues initially with oiling then the bottom end let go and now its running a std bottom end. Unsure when it will have another tough bottom end slipped in there and pushed up over its previous best of ~300rwkw. Its definitely got some potential. ----------- Adz, Throw some nulon fuel system cleaner through it (believe it or not it does work when used every 5-10,000km's or so), check the o2 sensor is swinging once the car is warm and your cruising at a steady speed, if its not check o2 feedback has been turned back on after tuning. ---- As with bl4ck32 I was getting from mid 10's to flat 11l/100km's when tuned up from the rb30det driving around with a bit of a lead foot as it loves to lunge off the line with very little throttle input. BUT saying that our motors are essentially identical; same headwork by the same people at the same time, same bottom end at the same time same people etc etc.

Agreed. A mate of mine used to run a Gt35r at 8psi. It made 182rwkw. He pushed in another 8psi and picked up almost 100rwkw. Once it got up over 10psi it started to net large gains in power per pound of boost; that was until the ext. wastegate started to tail boost off at high rev's. Which is why you don't run a soft 8psi spring and try to push double the amount of boost through it. Such a pitty he never got that car sorted before selling it.

S3girl (Darren) runs water injection pre turbo with his GT40/hybrid thing. RB30ET sohc stock bottom end with hypereutectic pistons and managed 470rwkw on 26psi or there abouts. He said you have to push in a shit load of water preturbo for it to work half decently.

Maybe its time to 'upgrade' to the R32 GTST chassis.
-
Awesome work Michael. You've ditched the water injetion for good?

Rb25 On The Dyno..decent Result From Stock Turbo ;)

Nice figure.. You plan to throw the slide highflow back on it? The old saying.... There's no replacement for displacement. -
Hi ppls, I have a few tensioners that have new genuine NSK (as nissan use) bearings in them. As new/reconditioned. Have been sitting in the cupboard since the rb30det build up. Suitable for RB20,RB25,RB26 and RB30DE/T. I know nissan want an arm and a leg. I'm looking for $70 each delivered.

How is your idle with a .7 gap? I find 0.9 is silky smooth where as .8 to .7 has the occasional little pop and .6 simply has a crap idle.

Have you blokes cracked open a R33 GTS4 or R34 GTS4 rear Diff? You'll find there's a horrid VLSD sitting in there. All though not noticeable with the 4 wheels clawing at the bitchumen but definitely noticable if you are making some decent power and drop a factory clutch pack or aftermarket mechanical in there. The one up side of the vlsd is because they are a tad loose they are easier to keep in a straight line on corner exit. So more confidence through the hills as you can simply hold it flat. The only other difference is the gearbox ratio's; same model gearbox etc just slightly different ratio's. So same strength yes.

Thats really strange. I've tried with and without antisqueel shims, with pbr goo and without. All combinations. Absolutely no difference to pedal feel but a massive improvement in squeel; especially with light braking. I found with the Ultimates if I gave it a hard run through the hills the pads would squeel a tad just before I came to a stop then with softer driving it would slowly go away. Back to the pedal going soft/squishy. Thats definitely not right; I really think you must of had another issue going on there that was rectified when you pulled the pads out. My pedal is solid and easy to lock the wheels; never does it require lots of pedal travel to lock the tyres. I've only ran 1 set of Ultimates. Never again; too much brake dust thats also a pain in the arse to remove; short pad life; rip the crap out of the rotors and squeel on light braking after a hard run (even though it was greatly reduced with shims and goo). I'm currently running Ferodo's. Excellent pad, do dust up a tad but it washes off easily with a spray of the hose. Next set of street pads i'm going to try is Lucus/TRW. Apparently pretty damn good pads that can take a little track work also.

I get my copper ngk's from Motor Traders. ~$2.80 each. I usually swap them out around 10,000-20,000km's but have manged to pull 30,000km's out of them before they actually started to look worn. 20,000km the gap starts to open up, 30,000km's the electrode etc starts to round off.

Wasn't the nuts that rattled loose causing the gasket to blow out?
-
I grabbed a pair of s/steel t3 gaskets from MTQ today. For literally next to nothing. Should do the job. Nissan gaskets are nicer though.

Crimsonknight, For those of you with R32's its a 100% go ahead. Get your RB26 PFC and give Shaun/Troy @ Boostworx a buzz to book the car in. If you want your 'own' tuner to do the work thats too bad; I won't be telling anyone what needs to be done nor will I be sharing my datalogit dat files so they can go to their own tuner. The dat files I have pieced together allows the car to run on the base map nicely which results in less tuning time and obviously a better overall tune. Have your own tuner do this sort of R&D and you'll be up for BIG $$, unless that is they don't charge you R&D. Its only fair as I used Shauns Datalogit for a full day without charge sorting out the bugs; not once did Shaun expect anything in return. The least I could do is push a little business back to him and give him the dat files I have settled on and loom mods performed. Shaun and that Troy feller are top blokes, as I'm sure many of you already know.

Any one able to get me 2 at trade price?

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?
Cubes replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
AD4M, Damn respectable numbers there. Are you running an aftermarket plenum? Reason I ask is I've been using Performance Trend Engine Analyzer and playing with cams and inlet manifold tuning. Everything what I've seen on the dyno with the rb30det when running an aftermarket plenum reflects what the Engine Analyzer sim calculates. A very very slight loss of low end until it gets some boost in to it; of which is easily tuned out with a set of adj cam gears. Once the low end has been picked back up there still exists a respectable top end improvement. Power holds much better and doesn't simply nose over. For example.. The RB30/25 with all the correct runner, port, valve, exh manifold turbo etc measurements done has more low and low/mid than the 2JZ running the same turbo. Shorten the runners by ~1/4 of the total length with the same spec cams and the power curve is near identical. I'll have to play with the RB20DET's setup and see if it likes a shorter runner plenum or not. What turbo are you running? GT3076r? .82? -
Playing around with Performance Trends Engine Analyser Pro I noticed they had a little option to select between twin and single scroll turbo's. According to the simulator it appears the largest gains are to be had during spool, power equals out once spool is matched by the single scrol, peak power is made and then as power is falling off the twin scroll appears to hold power ever so slightly better. Interesting. Slowly getting the hang of this engine sim. I've taken inlet, port, valve, exh and turbo measurements. :S Spool appears to be pretty spot on with what I would expect out of a given turbo on mysetup. Excellent program for the fiddlers out there.

The paint and doors that are sucked off other cars *especially those r33's* as it accelerates away.

Darren, Another Darren with his R31 470rwkw here in Adelaide has played with a few different diff ratio's. With the auto. He settled on the VLT's 3.45:1. He said it heaps a shit loads with wheelspin. 165km/h at the top end of third is not that crash hot. Also.. Gave you a wave in a red vn Dungadoor last Sat I think it was; south end of diag road.

My HT Holden Loose steeringbox feel. Just replaced the steering rod bush and steering rack bushes so should feel like a new tight car on the road. As thats all sorted. What I have about my car now. Is that its not on the road. Im waiting on a single part from MTQ.

So Nisskid.. What was your best lap?

When we were younger we had a few issues with 2 areas; police action (or lack of) didn't work. Vigilante action did. They dissapeared; must of moved area. Either way it appeared to work. One was a group of surfy bums, another a group of drunken aborigionals. In this case.. Unless its a group then no. Its near impossible.
