  1. I really think I need to drive an Evo and an Sti back to back. I've driven an Evo 3, 6.5, 8 and X, but never driven a rex. At the moment, an 05 Sti and a spare engine and gearbox ready to go seems like a good idea. This is the last one with the 2L right?
  2. 05 Sti sounds like a go-er, could buy plenty of spares along with it. How do they handle on the track? I've always heard they're a bit heavier and have a bit more under steer than an evo, can that be tuned out?
  3. I still can't work out that bloody q-starz thing. I have to set it out on the track every time. Still it's helpful but wish it was a bit easier to use.
  4. Considering I'd probably spend around $35-40k, which model WRX/STi would you recommend? - Don't need to tow so not an issue, but would like to bring a set of semi's to swap at the track and jerries and tools too - See above
  5. Yeah I guess I was thinking of an Evo 9 or below. I test drove an Evo X DSG which was pretty nice but thought it was way too expensive and styled a little too closely to a regular Lancer, plus it definitely needed a manual box. Also really like the Megane Rs 265, only issue was the clutch's friction point was basically on the floor which would be irritating for a daily
  6. I currently drive an FPV F6 ute as my daily and have 32 GTR track car, and have been thinking about consolidating them into one car. The pros for the F6 is that it is an absolute ball-tearer in a straight line, is extremely comfortable for long trips, has all the mod cons and has a massive tray so I can lug around virtually anything. Cons, it's missing a back seat, the tray is a magnet for long lost family members who need to move house, and it really doesn't like cornering. As for the GTR, it's an icon, it's a f**king weapon and I love it, however it is a huge pain in the ass to get it out to the track and every time I take it out there's some new issue or something breaks. It's never-ending with that car I swear to god. So, the conundrum. Do I sell both cars, and combine them into one car that can do both? Does that even exist? I almost feel like whatever I go with would be a compromise of comfort and performance. For example, I could get an Evo which would run for days at the track and do decent times but would be not very comfortable for a daily and I would look like an asshole with it's stupid wing and loud exhaust, and then it wouldn't be as much fun to drive as the GTR. But I know if I break anything it will be easy (and cheap) to fix and I could put a baby seat in the back and groceries in the boot. Something like the Focus RS sounds interesting, but I wonder if Ford's warranty will cover the repeated abuse at the track. I'd be wanting to do at least 6 track days a year (which is 6 more than I did last year). It's also a bit out of my price range, and beating the shit out of a brand new expensive car at the track seems like a bad idea. A second-hand STi seems to strike a decent balance between performance and comfort, but I'm concerned about reliability since it would be out of warranty. I really want a car that I can just say 'f**k it' and go for a thrash at the track, and then comfortably drive around Sydney in traffic, without it blowing up or falling to pieces, or slipping a disc in my back. Keen to hear your opinions. Cheers
  7. Won't fit over my brakes unfortunately but good pick up! They look exactly like the original IMPUL rims!
  8. Love the interior mate looks clean af. Who did the dash for you? what did it cost? also, have you had the car on the track with the GKtech mirrors? Mine are f**king useless, the mirrors fly all over the place so I can't see out of the bastards. Had to stuff them with tape
  9. Does anyone have a simple guide to replacing rear lca's in a 32 GTR?
  10. A quick update to this thread, I ended up getting a Do-Luck DTMII and blew it up trying to wire in the throttle cable Now I'm the market again for a g sensor. Is there any new products on the market? The Skylab looks interesting, anyone got one? Is it PnP?
  11. Can anyone recommend a workshop with experience installing these? Already blew up a Do-Luck DTM2 so I don't wanna touch it
  12. Hi guys, got a brand new Chromoly HICAS removal bar bought from Unique Autosports a few months ago. Don't need it as I'm switching to an eliminator kit. http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/Parts-Shop/uas-hicas-removal-brace-581.aspx Suit R32, R33 & R34 GTST & 300ZX. Worth $180, will take $100 (firm) Cheers
  13. Might be interested in the Dash, can you tell me more about it? Any photos? What sort of logging capacity does it have? Does it connect to a Haltech easily enough?
  14. Has anyone seen or heard of a Nismo branded gearbox shroud thing that sits around the top of the shifter to prevent oil coming out the top? Someone told me about it but I haven't seen it or anything like it for sale anywhere.
  15. Just a quote from air road for four tyres from melb to syd $117. Does that sounds like a fair price?
  16. Very interesting Duncan. Seems like they are splitting hairs? It's a 2 door coupe, if a 200SX qualifies then surely a GTR does. Is there any evidence of R32's running in anything other than Group A?
  17. Does anyone know why R32,33 & 34 GTR's aren't eligible for 2F Production Sports? Every other Nissan sportscar is, including the R35 GTR!
  18. anyone here running in Pulsar Challenge? Apparently you can build one for around $5000 and race meets should set you back around $500 a round. was thinking of splitting the cost with a mate and running the enduros with him. keen to hear people's experience with them!
  19. What did you pay? Also curious about how many track days you get out of them, be sure to let us know
  20. This looks like so much fun, but how the hell do you build a car for under $1000? A Cage, seat and harness would already be well over that amount, let alone purchasing the car
  21. Far less interesting than the post above me!
