So its at least a 3k option. Does that 1k include all the tuning, replacing studs etc and work that Boostworx had to do, oil, belts, coolantm recharging aircon etc? And you are right, it has nothing to do with it being an RB25. It has to do with doing an engine swap, even a pretty straight forward one. Every person I know that has done one ends up spending more then they thought... just like a new turbo and tune for an RB20 always costs more then you start out thinking and what people post on SAU

Ok, ,I started this thread a while ago but there were a few good reasons why I didn’t post up as originally intended. So many of you already know about this, some care...some don't. A few years ago I promised myself I will try to catch an OS F1 race every year and at the same time try and drive an OS race track. This is my third year of trying to avoid growing up, avoid a mortgage, and run from the protracted suicide that is my job This year was a pretty major increase in stakes....rather then hire cars and airports I figured I would go the whole way and just buy something I can thrash around in and enjoy. The short list was E36 M3, S14/15, Audi S3 and S4 plus a whole bunch of other buckets like E30 M3, Audi early 80s Quatttro goodness. After so much pain with insurance, test driving and find the right car...a childhood dream was realised Its great being a simpleton. Some want a beautiful wife, house, boat....fancy car...my needs are very simple. Give me B-Grade 80s goodness and I roam the streets smiling like the village idiot for weeks..and a girl to chat to me when I am hammered. So all my hard earned went into this... Collection from Lancaster UK Engine Bay I love the thing...so 80s! Memories of JB, DJ, Seton, Bond...even Brock tearing around Bathurst in these things as a kid means they will always hold a special place in my heart. So the Spec Harvey Gibbs Built Motor New 200 Long Studded block Adjustable cam gears Pectel T2 ECU with custom loom Boost Control via Air Injectors for hard ramping Ported Head Garret T38 Hybrid Turbo Full Samco hose kit K&N Filter in std Air Box 6 Paddle Clutch My FAV...6 POT AP Front brakes on 355mm rotors and 2pce rear rotors 18" Compomotive wheels, inc matching spare rim and yoko tyres 6 Degree Rear Beam ... the secret to trying to get the rears of these things to do their thing Genuine RS500 front end. Tuned to 420hp on engine dyno before being tweaked with a road tune The car was completely rebuilt to concours condition in 2005, with all suspension powder coated, new Konis, bushes, painted undercarriage etc. So basically, I looked at a few, this thing ticked enough of the right boxes...always remembering this bad boy was built in 1987! So, 250kms into my new ownership of the new bus...a relay fails, thermos stop working...and me stranded in a servo outside of Manchester So this is where it sat at my sisters whilst a revised plan was hatched But...dig deep....remember when you are down you have to be sure to pick something up. So a night at my sisters in Oxford going through and working out a parts list...and an early morning drive at 5am to avoid traffic and more overheating....I had a parts list, a plan...and an agenda to be in Germany in 24hrs time And success...kind of. The parts from Ford were late so I ended up doing a re-wire of the cooling system and put in a toggle switch for thermos rather then rely on the Ford parts to get me on the road (untested) So I jumped on the highway, heading for Folkestone to get the train to Calais using Eurotunnel. An absolute breeze, but expensive at around $220 and traffic on a Friday afternoon in the UK SUX!!! Carpark in Folkestone waiting for the train... On the train which takes all of 45 minutes until you arrive in Calais From Calais I buzzed up the coast to Bruge where I canned on until Jarrod (R32Bogboy) flew into Frankfurt on Vietnam "Love you Long Time" Airlines where everyone gets off...eventually.

Thats funny since every thread you seem to start is concerning problems with your R32 running RB25s. How many engines have you had in it now and how many kms has it actually run...and what is the cost up to
-
So what is happening to the bus these days?
-
Seeing Brock in the Daytona, wasnt it this time of the year in 2006 he had his fatal accident?
-
So who is going to get in touch with their mate Kando and find out how/when he going to start throwing billet wheels and ball bearing centres at his range like the yanks are doing with the 20G-XTR turbos etc.
-
I am on for the SnS and sprint. How does the SNS work? Cars left there overnight etc? If i dump a car there then take off to Winton for the sprints, any issue with just leaving a car at Shep for a few days unattended?

Dan was quicker in P1,

He will put it on pole. But the tactic is to stall it on the take off for the warm up lap. That will get him angry and on the back of the grid, fired up for a magnificent start when the lights go out

Is it possible to make a person a moderator of threads? In particular years ago i started a laptime thread in Club Motorsport and since my rights to mod the thread were removed the thread has not had lap times updated. No direspect Duncan or grandmasterb, they probably dont have the time or interest. Where as I do...any chances or what needs to be done to give me moderators rights over the thread?

You will all eat your words. Was talking to Mark on Wednesday and he said the engineers have been working hard on the software to simulate the grip levels and required clutch adjustment. He is pretty sure that the new setup along with his usual lightning fast reflexes will see him jump a few places on the grid. So I am convinced this is going to be the race of his season

So tips are in...once again I have tipped Webs for the win, Alonso 2nd and Button 3rd. Vettel and Hamo to take each other out and end up outside the points. If its going to be wet then will be real interesting as the Macs use their tyres better in the cold then Fezz and RBR

Early in the year the good oil was Grosgean was top of the list, Senna 2nd. He needed/wanted to focus on GP2 as last time round he gave away the championship. Mid year they started saying that late in the year Renault were looking to test Senna and Grosgean on race weekends, but Senna would go first if the opportunity arose as Grosgean had to wrap up the championship. Then the Heidfeld thing went south, Senna got his chance and have to say had a pretty good debut....sponsors jumping on board and you have to wonder with Grosjean is now going to just sit around because both Petrov and Senna bring money to the team. In my heart of hearts I think Grosjean is a good thing and would really shine

R32 Gtr Stock Rotors To 324Mm Rotors
Roy replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thats the good thing about the black Brembo setups. They look std. If i could find a place that I trust to do cold anodising thats what i want to do to mine...fir the time being fronts are red, rears are black. My old Sumitomo setup was blue and looked more aftermarket, but then again my Greddys were gold,. APs black, Alcons red etc etc Actually, if someone wants a kick ass Alcon setup let me know. i forgot i had them under the bed -
R32 Gtr Stock Rotors To 324Mm Rotors

I posted the piston sizes a while back when a friend bought a set and I grabbed them to measure up. The were something like 48/44, they were a lot bigger then F50 calipers in the piston size. Means you would have to go for pretty big rear 4 pot calipers and play with master cylinders. The best thing about the F40/F50/ST40 etc is that they are only 4 pot. So all the cool kids bin them and go for supposed "far better 6 pot" option So if you hunt around you can get some real good buys. For about $1500-200 you can get some F40s with brackets to suit 324mm rotor. If you find that you still struggle, or upgrade to more power/grip etc then just pony up for a new set of 343 or 355mm rotors etc and throw the F40s on them. I currently have a pretty basic 4 pot setup using new 343mm rotors that all fit under a 17" wheel. It didnt cost the earth and for what I do with the car is almost perfect. Alomost because I wish I still had F40s rather then the Stoptech ST40, as whilst the Stoptech caliper is a slighly nicer thing being forged rather then cast, a slightly better bridge design...the pad availability is not even close to being as good as the F40/50 range of calipers -
So Renault signing up a host of new sponsors along with Senna being in board....oh well, Grosjean has no chance all of a sudden

I I cant make sense of all the Kando turbos...in one part they are saying TD06S, the next part of the add they are saying TD06L2 etc?!?!?! To the best of my knowledge the TD06S is different to the TDO6H which is different to the TD06SH... basically in Greddy speak the commonly referred to: - TD06-25G is the TD06SH turbine - T67-25G is the TD06SL2 turbine - TD06-20G is the TD06H turbine From info I have collected over the years... TD06h - 67 mm / 59 mm (12 blade) TD06S - 65 / 55 mm (12 blade) TD06 - 65 / 55 mm (12 blade) TD06SL2 - 61 / 54 mm (11 blade)
-
Will be interesting, as even though the TD06SH turbine is bigger, it has a pitch that would use the air better vs the L2 wheel which is a more open design
-
They are not the same. Forget ported comp covers which were never offered by Greddy so I know nothing about...the T67 is smaller on the hot side. Following are pics showing the size difference in turbines that I posted earlier in this thread TD06L2-20G 8cm T67-25G 10cm and an TD06SH-25G 10cm ...have a look at the following pics to get an idea of the difference in exhaust wheel . The TD06SH turbine flows more then the TD06L2 turbine and whilst they have the same compressor, the SH wheel poses a lot less restriction. As you can see, the SH turbine is a fair whack bigger then the L2 wheel.

Track Battle Australian Time Attack Series
Roy replied to GTR32G's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Shame its on same weekend as Sandown... tough decision but Dandown is getting my money -
Looks an amazing turn out with plenty of new cars. Mobil VL, ANZ Sierra, TRD Supra etc
-
Well I have both in a box and going to give the 25G a go before T67. From the results I have seen on friends cars is the 25G catches the T67 at 4,500rpm and powers on to make 20-30rwkws more. This was from similar cars with same tuner. But was a long time ago and people are making more from setups these days so would be interesting. I will have my built motor by xmas to trial with. Will be happy with 320 from T67...they just dont seem to make power after 22psi where rhe 25G can squeeze about 24psi into them and make 350rwkws...not sure how strong my first diy engine will be and how much boost it will like
-
So why is everybody being soft and using the T67 rather then TD06-25G? Cant imagine there is going to be more then 200-500rpm in it and the hotside would surely flow better and be nicer to tune. I think when the time comes im going to give the 25G a go with a 10cm housing

R32 Gtr Stock Rotors To 324Mm Rotors
Roy replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
340mm rear rotors from performane friction with gtr calipers didnt work that well. I used rear rotors because they have a more suitable anulus for nissan calipers and pads. just didnt work when trial fitting so never bothered actual resting. Z/R32 calipers work best with 324 rotors. If 324rotors arent getting the job done then its time for an upgrade...there are enough relatively cheap options these days that its easier to upgrade. They are just about the best and really only budget upgrade you can do ...but is limited in what you can achieve
