    My China Trip

    Awesome!
  3. I dont know Mafia. I would have spent 6k on my RB20 with ecu, injectors, fuel pump, turbo and manifold and tuning....would do some things differently if I did it all again but 50,000kms in a std engine making between 235-275rwkws and plenty of track work means I dont think its been a waste if money. Hell I cant think of any rwd cars be it RB25, SR20 etc rhat us as quick as my RB20 at Sandown which is pretty much a hp track...so cant be too bad a thing General rule is if you go bigger RB you have to expect the gearbox will be a problem much sooner. So add gearbox, tailshaft... it all adds up. Coolant, oils new water pump and belrs etc...do it once, do it right and it costs money. So many people talk about how cheap they can do things and not sure its sound advice to people who are spending money at a mechanics as they may not have know how, space, time or a combination of
  4. just quietly, I can see why an RB24 has more torque earlier then an RB25, probably fall over up top more and not make the same power on same boost. But guessing that torque comes from when you have the most effecient combustion which is realated to cylinder filling.... then an RB24 is going to have plenty of velocity, and good cylinder filling, but at higher hp probably also means more restriction/ pressure drop
  5. Why is the head worse? I can think of reasons why its better for making torque
  6. If you neef RB24 pistons I have some brand new Tomei pistons. Cant see me ever using them since I am a day away from buying a car that already has a built motor
  7. lol...7.2:1 low compression high boost goodness
  8. Stop saying GTSts are cheap. How am I supposed to sell mine for 45k if people keep lowering expectations. Fark it. I test drove 420hp of low compression 2L laggy goodness. Made the old RB20 feel responsive and quick...best cars ever
  9. Yeh, well come Hungary, I am pretty sure the local constabulary are up for a bribe or three...so if Vettel is going to get hurt I best pay for my passage out of the country before I meet him "under the fig tree". I make no promises that I can sort the fit little bugger out but will give it a nudge. Hopefully he cant take too many punches because I get worn our and bored quick. I am just concerned mid prodigious beating he wins me over with being a pretty cool fella and then i get all guilt ridden and hit the sauce to repress my guilt....actually, that doesnt sound like too bad a result either.
  10. Funny you mention Cadwell Park , its not 10 minutes from where I am buying the car (the most likely candidate anyway...pending Sunday's inspection.) Chuckie, are you a local? Anywhere you suggest that could give the car a once over. The people I am speaking with are all miserable and as soon as I call from Australia they are not interestd. More then anything just need a compression check of the engine. Other pain in the as55 is telegraphic transfer may take up to 3 days so not sure how I can speed up the process other then to withdraw cash and where the fees And yes people, this car is soo trashy and so me.... only a romantic would pay the asking price for this dinosaur edit..scrap that...silly UK. Lincolnshire ... confused it with Lancashire
  11. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/93058 As i had thought, no harm if anything did Mark a service to prove he still wants success
  12. They were lighweights! Still a great experience, but suspect Silverstone is THE GP to experience then Monaco.
  13. Looks mint. I have to ask though can you fit the bumper without the guards?
  14. He did....but you dont think the context is a little different ? I am happy to be told I am being one eyed. But Massa was well behind Alonso and Alonso was still in the hunt for the WDC. Alsono needed the points more then Massa. This time round, Vettel has bolted and has the WDC in the bag. Webber is racing for P2 in the WDC and if anything needs the points more then Vettel to try and gap Alonso and the two Macs. So, i see the Alonso-Massa situation as a reason why if they were going to apply team orders on the basis of WDC they should have pushed Mark through....but that was never going to be the case and I dont really want it to be the case either. Mark said it made sense and that team orders exist in F1. That is true. What sense did it make to stop Webber from racing Vettel...This is assuming that both have the maturity to not take each other out. And as someone else pointed out, Vettel is 2-0 for taking Webber out
  15. I figure one man just isnt complete with a POS 2L coupe from the early 90s. He needs one from the late 80s to be complete And they should be in different countries
  16. I dont think for a second that Webber has a shot at the title. But if he stops trying to win or beat a slower car in front then I want to see him hang up the helmet. Something I have always said about Webber, and like about him is if his performances are not up to par he generally looks at what has to be done and goes about improving. He doesnt do a JV, Hill, Button etc and blame the car. So he has to keep on pushing and believing that he can bridge the gap and on his day beat the other guy. Years ago MS crashed and broke a leg and missed races. More recently Perez crashed and missed races. Alonso had a hell of a 2nd half of the year and almost won the WDC. I dont think Webber has a shot, but if Vettel bins it like he did in the sphincter of the universe and Canada and bangs up his leg etc...then who knows. You got to keep pushing and get the maximum result...being an Aussie it may be the only way he will win it is when someone else throws it away ...and will have to agree to disagree re team orders. After the legality of team orders was announced last year the owner of Red Bull publically made a point to come out and say we will never be Ferrari, we believe in the sporting aspects of F1 and will never adopt team orders. Pretty clear in my book what he think the basis of his team is about. Shame with their success they are now just another political machine full of spin and BS Come on Danielson in the HRT. I know what shirt I am buying next weekend in Germany
  17. I think with half the season yo go 3 points is 3 points and Webber is yet to outscore Vettel in a single race. There is a strong chance Vettel will have a DNF before seadons end and one poor result. Webber neefs to win and take a few points out of him when he can...if he gives up the points chase now then he doesnt deserve a seat in the WDC team. And Webber and Vettel have shared the track and positions at plenty of GPs. It has only ended in tears once in 2.5 seasons. Let them race as McLaren and Renault do
  18. Harry, not from this season but makes the point, his philosophy has nothing to do whether team orders are legal or not....its how he views the sport.... 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz articulated his philosophy of why his drivers would be allowed to race each other right to the end and the team would not intervene, “Let the two drivers race and what will be will be,” he said. “If Alonso wins we will have been unlucky. I predict a Hollywood ending. Worst case scenario we don’t become champion? We’ll do it next year...our philosophy stays the same because this is sport and it must remain sport. We don’t manipulate things like Ferrari do.” Re my earlier point. You dont think it would have been wiser to say to Mark "Mark, Seb is in trouble on tyres. If you are going to have a go make it clean." Likewise updating Vettel that "Mark is quicker and will be attacking. Defend your position but nothing desperate" If one of them over steps the line then a real reaming is in order. I can see how this goes... future quotes from Horner... "In the first few laps you dont want team mates racing and taking each other out so we told Mark not to attack so early in the race as anything could have happened in the later laps" "We told Mark to hold off on attacking as Seb had a problem with his KERS / Or was in tyre trouble so didnt want Seb to push any harder and result in a pit stop for tyres or a car problem" "With 3 laps to go we did not want to throw away valuable points with a clash so told th drivers to hold position" So when are they actually allowed to race? That all said, Mark has himself to blame, even allowing for having the slippery side of the track (rubbered in racing line in the wet is worse then dirty side in the wet) he should have gotten away better and been leading Vettel...not chasing
  19. But thats not the same thing. If they were concerned about that and true to Mateschitz's claim...they should have been on the radio saying "Mark, Seb is in trouble on tyres. If you are going to have a go make it clean. " Likewise updating Vettel that "Mark is quicker and will be attacking. Defend your position but nothing desperate" If that was the radio call I would be applauding them! And the comment that he didnt get past anyway...not really the point. He tried and should have been allowed to on the say so of the team (I undersand team orders are legal this year, but Mateschitz's insists thats not what RBR are about...its HIS MONEY and he should be applauded. I think if the other car had not been an RBR he would have got the job done. But respecting it was his team mate with only 2 laps to go...waited. And Harry, dont see it affecting negotiations... http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/07/10/mateschitz-all-but-confirms-webber-for-2012/ .... If Mateschitz is true to his word, he was there and said this most likely before the race. Perhaps even after the race. oh this is whaty he has said time and time again But Austrian billionaire Mateschitz tells how there will never be team orders at RBR "This is a sport and the best should win," he said. "Power, politics, manipulation and so on should be kept as far away as possible." "The game is 'come and get me, if you can', and not 'let me through because I'm better'," insisted Mateschitz. "Racing must remain racing." And their points tallies aside, he is adamant that the events about to happen on the circuit will determine whether Webber or Vettel triumphs. "They are different in personality, but equally fast," he said.
  20. But thats my point. People have been saying Mark is a whipped dog this year. A number 2. He may have been in performance, but he isnt a contracted No.2. He is slowly coming to grips with the RB7 and good to see he wasnt there to follow Seb home. Points are points and if you have a shot you go for them...CLEANLY. Which it was clean racing It shouldnt hurt team negotiations, they dont have team orders...so how can it hurt I dont think it was that big a deal. Horner, Webber and Seb were all a bit it happened. Lets move on...not like last years sh1t fight. But, I am just happy as I am about to jump on a plane Webber at least seems to have about the same pace as Vettel now....in fact the No.2 had to be told not to pass the golden boy I love it. Long overdue this season, McLaren have been doing and hopefully RBR can be in on the action
  21. I say good on him Harry. They both raced tough and clean to the line. Nice work all round. Seems Horner wants to run a Nanny state team
  22. Horner you DOG!!!! Maintaint the gap!!! :(
  23. SOOOO depressing
  24. Any updates John...been doing any testing? What are the Wakefield times looking like? Keen to see more pics of the bus finished
  25. Vettel has to hit problems sooner or later. I think Turn 1,2,3 and 4 will mean a few clashes with Hamo trying to win it on the first lap...hopefully its into Vettel
