Well my good man, we need to speak!
-
Well it seems RBR dont want to win the championship, rather they want to leave the door open for Alonso. From what i can gather of the Korean GP layout McLaren and Ferrari will be stronger then RBR....so Alonso can easily sneak in there for the WDC. Rather if they had pite Webber 2 laps earlier then Vettel he would have got the over and under done and the WDC would be looking a lot better for one of their drivers! But, at least it will be good to see whoever wins it will be winning it on merit. /...and again. How good was Kobayashi!!!!

KING KOBAYASHI!
-
There is talk that grid positions can be quali on Sunday morning or championship postiion. Interesting there was no talk that poistion can be based off practice times.
-
It was washed out, unlikely to have quali either Imagine if they cancel the race, Korea doesnt go ahead....Brazil has a mudslide, that means we only have one GP left

Evo Brembos On A R32 Gtr
Roy replied to Dominic's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From an aftermarket standpoint many make 1-pce 355mm rotors. OE there are a few like 370Z and some other later model Nissans, and FG Falcons. There are others but not with the same PCD-bolt pattern. The ford uses a bigger hub centre diam hole so dont really bolt on as such 71.8mm vs 68mm of the Nissans. Means the 370Z is probably the best bet but the offset is fairly different between them and earlier Nissans, about 5mm from memory -

If the master cylinder size is the same then thats a an R34 at 26.9mm then that is a good starting point. But you also need to consider the pedal ratio as that is the other variable from a hydraulics standpoint. Also need to consider that different cylinders often have different bias - proportioning springs in them and that is related to the weight bias of the car Well the first thing that springs to mind would be something like an EVO rear as I assume that they use considerably bigger pistons then the GTR Brembos. But have never checked. The thing I dont have agood feel for is when you start to run 330mm + rears with thicknesses up over 26mm what it means regarding the pads you need to run. I guess you end up being able to run a very low temp pad as you would have huge amounts of cooling in the rear with very little bias...unless you have serisous rear aero that allows you to run more rear bias then normal. But i think you may need to look at some Porsche rear 4 pots as they tend to run slightly larger pistons then ideal being rear engined and able to run plenty of rear bias. You think GTSt brakes are touchy? To potter around with or when you are screaming along and jumping on them. I think its best to work on 100% braking feel, capacity and performance and how they feel when potting along is what you live with. That way when you are up it on the track etc they are working well and heaven forbid you need to brake in an emergecy situation on the road that they perform equally well. LOL, like all things, the more you change the more variables you introdice. But imagine it will be rewarding when you understand it all what affected what and it works well! -

The Brembo EVOs do have massive pistons compared to anything offered for Nissans by the aftermarket. Combined with the fact that they then are being used with a larger rotor then anything Mitsu or Nissan use. You need to have something pretty serious plans for the rear and then need to allow for any difference between an EVO and a Skyline with regards to pedal ratios and master cylinder sizes. To mean not only the bias works well but the pedal doesnt end up too sensitive or too long I have read about plenty of people wanting to do this...but few have. So will be interesting to read the results as on paper it will take a bit of work to get working well And Zebra. the 4 pot FPVs are essentially an F50 caliper though they use larger pistons as well. They are radial mount vs the lug mount of the EVO. As for machining, if you give people the file, then you can still expect to pay up to $400 a corner. Can get them cheaper, but depends on what you are machining as you need to consider the set up time, any programming and material cost. Its easy to see where 4-5 hours goes and hence the labour cost adds up on top of material costs -
I am keeping it for my RB24 on E85

Ap Racing Big Front Brake Kit - Sydney
Roy replied to Blitz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Nice caliper and being a single piece rotor and a second hand kit you dont have to worry about noise etc like you do if you buy used 2pc rotors. Here is the info on the caliper... http://www.apracing.com/drawings/cp5200_1cd.pdf You wont have any bias problems with these as they actually have smaller pistons then the std Sumitomo R32 calipers meaning that they get their increase in braking performances courtesy of the larger diameter rotor...so bias will be about the same as std, only with better ability to disperse heat during heavy use -
That was kind of my point Duncan There are almost as many money pit big hp GTRs sitting in peoples garages not getting driven as those living in workshops, far more then actual track cars that have 300-350rwkw GTRs that get used for every purpose imaginable. You se so many GTRs with 8=10K brake setups and they NEVER see the track or any form of motorsport. So a $1300 fuel system isnt stretch meaning it saves a bit of labour which , what...costs between $100-135 / he these days!

I am running a TD06H-20G at the moment. I also have a TD06L20-20G and TD06SH-25G. If the TD05-18G matches up to my manifold, dump and cooler piping which it surealy has to go close then I am tempted to bin the 20G and swap between the 25G i have whcih i know bolts on place of my 20G
-
1350kg last time i paid attention. Its only a 17" tyre so it is also about diam, not just width as the larger rolling diameter often allows the temperatures to be more stable meaning they can run grippier compounds

Thats why pommie cars are ace....all the cool gear you can get for them!

The only guy that hasnt been making mistakes this year is Button. He has been good, but the slowest of the 5. Take away his opportunistic wins in the wet and he would have been nowhere. It leaves Webz as about the most consistant, which if you consider Aus GP, Valencia and some of his backards on the first lap shows that all the real contenders have been as bad as Hamo and Massa were in 2008!
-
Shaun...how many GPs has Webz bagged this year???? He obviously can get it off the line just fine. He has one terrible start in Valencia, an ordinary start in Monza. Dont think you can blame a car problem on Webz for what happened at Spa....he will get it off the line...the questio will be is he racing Vettel to turn 1 from pole of P2 on the grid ?

Not sure putting a 20G compressor on a TD05 wheel is ideal?!?!? For one, being a bush bearing turbo, doesnt that mean it struggles with larger axial loads when you start throwing big compressors on small turbines...not to mention the basic aero side of things with regards to surge and trying to spin a big compressor with the exhaust gases having very little torque by hitting a smaller radius turbine....lol, i dunno

So, both RBR drivers were slapped on the wrists...."recpect one another children" ... but this weekend is going to end in tears for RBR. It seems clear already, this early in the weekend that they are racing themselves. RBR dont chase the timesheets on Fridays, my memory tells me every time they have been comfortably quicker in FP1 then they only ended up going quicker and gapping the other teams So, this weekend seems to be the sphincter of the universe Rd2....Vettel wants points, is desperate for points and Webber will need this win with his team mate behing him to give him a gap to Alonso, and put Vettel out of the running. Assuming Webber, Vettel Alsonso (Maybe Kuz can sneak into 3rd???) then it means Webber will have 21 points on Alonso and 28 on Vettel.... IF, we reverse it and Vettel bags 1st with Webber behind him it means Webber only has 14 points to both Alonso and Vettel....surely this is far too tight for RBR going into the final 3 races. Dont think RBR or Webber want the win given to him....but Webber really needs to show the pace he has shown in past years at Suzuka this weekend as he has a quick team mate and its critical he beats him this weekend. Playing with the numbers, if Webber bags a win in the next 4 races it really only means he needs 3 3rds to sew it up provided Sebv doesnt win the other 3. So, if there are any side by side action, is it going to be another bash-clash lottery dip to see who still has a drivable car? I suspect Vettel will ptu Webber to the sword thinking Webber will protect his points lead and take 18 points...will Mark let him push him around?????
-
Yeh, i hazard a guess that the race pace is at least 4 seconds per lap quicker these days, with no tyre war
-
Have a hard think... the only difference was tyres? If so then I seems i am selling the RE55s short That is dramatic and i wouldnt have thought it would be that dramatic. But a back to back is more accurate then my seat of pants! They were the 595RSR, not the 595, or the 595 EVO etc etc (just checking) http://www.federaltyres.com.au/ss595
-
140, 50 or 230....dont care. They are a good tyre and only a guide. There is more to grip then a number or how soft they are. They work well. And if you have used them back to back with RE55s and they are 1.5seconds slower then i fair enough. But i would be surprised if that was the case
-
Want to part with you rTD05-18G, I am after one with the 3” intake
-
I ran one day in a Scirroco at Nurburgring with some Bridgestone street tyre, then the next day on those Federal 595 RS-R, they are a very good tyre. I dont think they give away much at all to an RE55, which appear to be showing their age compared to the newer A050. But, the RS-R was an amazing thing...its is a true semi... so that experience combined with the times at EC and Wakefield of the E85 sniffing S15...then they are on par with RE55s in my eyes. At least close enough that it would be interesting to back to back them as the differences are not obvious

300hp is plenty engouh to get yourself into trouble ! Problem is you have gone from 6 cylinder to 4 cylinder.
