  1. Gee, that little cock sucker is quick Thats two weekends in a row where Webz has made a mistake on his hot lap....3rd time this year. Lets see if Vettel can get it off the line tomorrow, and if Webber can avoid a repeat of Valencia, ad repeated Silverstone
  2. Yeh, was watching it, Vettel did hit traffic but Webber did seem to be a tad quicker in P3. Will make for an interesting Quali. Looks like Macs are way off the pace behind the Fezz and RBRs
  3. LOL, this is the beauty of R32s. I always say silver looks the best. Then i see a mint black one and wish mine was black. Then i see white and wish mine was white. Then i see grey and think..... hell, i saw a maroon one the other day for sale that made me go "oooh-aaahhhhh" Neat paint, neat wheels and low stance is all they need to look mint
  4. John, good vid man...you are hustling that car around for great times considering the tyres. What camera/package/software thingies-stuff are you using. Its great footage. ...PS, do you find the car being a bit pushy to be quicker, or its just how the car handles?
  5. Try these guys for replacement rotors http://powertune.com.au/ http://www.jbt.com.tw/chinese/index.htm They all are pumped out of the same factory....
  6. Yeh, beauty of RB20s are that a different block may be free, or $150 or so. Curious to see how Paul goes with the lil RB24. His experience with head porting and playing with different things makes him the perfect guy for a little project like this. So many people I have spoken to re building a 24 just dismiss it and make me want to do it myself..no love for the project But I know i dont have the know how....its good to see builders with an interest and pride in what they are doing, hopefully Camerons thing punches out numbers adn exceeds his expectations
  7. Jack, nobody does a teen without talent and confidence behind the wheel. Your fast because you are smooth!
  8. Well, me being a fark knuckle compnay man. ..my leave has been postponed and my flight diverted to Singapore to fix fark up on a job. They are telling me its will only eb a few days but that means i wont have any time to work on the car....thats assuming i am not there for my entire two week holiday before returning to Inida on the 15th ! SO depressed right now, every time i make plans and get excited, work farks them up. I cant wait to quit this job, hopefully in the next week or two. Oer 6 years with them and whilst its good to be the go to guy, other people are treated and paid like royalty, whilst...well i stil cant afford anyting better then an R32 GTST

  13. So, with a great work opportunity arising to go work in India, it was time to bench the car and confine it to the sad existence that is "back of the shop". A place where some cars never return from. Moth Balls New TE37s, 17x9 +28 & 17 x 9.5 +36 ...before colour change Stripped TE37s, ready for the colour change TD06-25G ... 22psi of this bad boy and it should make some NOISE!!! So with cooling always an issue on the track, and planning on running some higher boost, and possibly a few more ccs from the RB20 it was time for a cooler upgrade. So off with the trusty HKS Type S cooler ... and ready to go on , this... 100mm thick ARC Cooler Some more goodies delivered to the Melbourne office... 6boost Manifold, Trust Titanium Exhaust, Front Diffuser

  16. Will be keeping my phone close by. I was meant to be there watching but my flight back to Aus now has a detour via Singapore to fix a fark up...so another case of work 1st, Roy 2nd Who knows when my car gets back on the track. Now that I have to go to SIngapore for a few days i may not get to track my car this year It will be close to finished by 16th August, lol if you want to take it for a punt you are welcome to. 2 reasons, i trust you more then most and curious to hear your thoughts after driving a basic R32 GTSt with bolt on mods. And trust me Jack, nobody is more frustrated then me that I have wasted all this money on my car the past 2 years and I still am not in a position to drive it and have fun. It pains me to see Russ, Ryan and co all out going quicker and I am not involved in the fun. Finally there is a car other then Matt to play with and I am not around. I get annoyed seeing poor Dane going through the same thing, only worse Re what is a race car....its different things to different people. Based on noise and comfort side of things. If i took Tom_g's GTSt, ripped the interior out of it, air con, only had a drivers seat and no dash, JFK style and put a half cage in it for $700. Would it be a race car considering it has 130rwks with std turbo, and cat back exhaust with std ECU? Small distinction and is a definition thing more then anything...but I suppose we are talking about slightly different things which is why we have different opinions. If you buy a GTR and rip the front end out of it I think you need your head read. Maybe if you buy a GTR shell and you build it up with a GTS25t wreck.
  17. Yeh, I wish the car was quicker then it is. It will never be the quickest bus, its too compromisd. But it is good fun I will post up more about brakes and the recent work that has been done to it over the next few days, ahead of the mods that are going on soon. I will just say i wish i could run 2bar of boost, I run out of injector and the thing chokes on its exhaust gas and doesnt make any more power after 22-23psi

  22. Yes Jack , but i think the difference between the likes fo Franks and Aarons cars are ...that whilst resgistered and daily drivers, everything else about them is a race car. To me a race car is a car with all the components. It is not a race car simply because it has no back seat and a half or full cage. Yes Adams car is heavily modified on all fronts, it still has only had two runs a Sandown and Winton....will be itneresting how mcuh quicker it can go. Bt getting back to your car, Frank ad Aarons cars. They can be daily driven , but lets look at what has been done to them all whilst keeping the interior in them. Brake setups close to V8 Supercar sizes worth +8k with brands like Alcon, AP and Harrop. Engines that build, ancillaries and turbos are 30-50k packages. Suspension setups that including arms, swaybars and shocks would be between 6-8k. Radiators and oil coolers worth 2k. Then you have the aftermarket front and rear diffs, modified transfer case and good twin plate clutches, all to the approx value of 10k as well. Then they have carbon fibre bonnet, some race seats for harnesses. So all that is left for these cars is to have 20hours spent removing the interior and air con. Then 3-5k adding weight (hurting performance but adding some back with stiffness) with a cage and then all of a sudden it has gone from being a road car to a race car. So my thinking is more swayed by the parts, labour and money that has been put into a car, not whether the owner has removed the air con condenser and back seat. But...whilst i am an advocate for for rwd, I marvel at how amazing your and some other GTRs are on the street and their turn of speed at the track. Frank using soft semis which i understand his car could neer get close to those times on regular RE55s. Ditto his times at PI. So not really 4 seconds off on the same compund of tyre, more like perhaps 2.5?!?! Not important, just a consideration. And yes, comparing times has always got to be taken with a grain of salt. Tracks like Winton and PI mean that the rwd crews can run a little closer to the big GTRs in Vic, where Calder and Sandown where if you have a 10-11 sec GTR you are going to be getting down those straights pretty well, all from a low speed corner onto the straight. It pains me that Matt never got a proper run in his R34 GTT, it had the makings of a very quick car...but it seems he ran ot of patience with it just as it was about to start to hunt down good times
  23. Here is the thing about rwd. I actually love the tad lazier power delivery of the Trust turbos. The hit of power and torque is a little softer then with the ball bearing oh-ahh turbos (IMO) which makes them easier to drive on the throttle. So rather then look at a power figure where rwd becomes a limiting factor, consider the torque characteristics of the engine. (Another reason why i rate the RB20, they can still make 420hp or so and dont turn tyres like the bigger RBs) Also consider that if you are going to bigger cc RB engines, consider the diff ratio you are using. If you have the torque, then use it to your advantage and gear the car so that you are not frying tyres or forever changing gears. Also re traction, the usual diff, and quality of suspension gets called into question. So something decent normally suffices. But to me if driving a rwd car then pay attention to how the pros drive them. They use higher gears almost everywhere to what people expect. You may not have that instant hit of power on exit, but the ability to settle the car mid corner helps you carry corner speed and the less aggressive final drive using the taller gear means you are on the loud pedal spooling up the turbo and not on-off with wheelspin and oppo lock. I think all too often people are jumping on the loud pedal in their rwd cars at the same point as the EVO and GTR boys who are trying to make up for the fact that they are normally slower accross the face of the corner. You just need to be more patient in a rwd car Remember that most Nissan rwd cars weigh less then GT3 Pokas, which make about 230-250rwkws (typically from what i have seen) Sure Dynamically and chassis wise the Porka is in a different league and rear engine helps their rwd traction....but pays to remember 350rwkws is truly a buck load of power with very few exotic cars making that power.
  24. I think too much corner speed and no grip is a tyre thing...irrespective of whether rear wheels, front wheels or all wheels are being driven? But he is aguy that owns both, has races both so probably one of the better informed guys to offer an opinion on the topic {serious opinion}
  25. To claify, GTR owners also have jobs which limits their ability to dribble rubbish on the net. Me being a GTSt owner, I have no such problem and able to post rubbish on the net all day. I would have preferred a GTR back in 2000 when i bought my car. I would probably prefer a GTR today. But thats as a road car with the occasional track day....and only if someone else was paying the bills. Even down to fuel consumption at a track day. Have you seen the amount of gas a 350rwkws GTR uses at a track day. They are thirsty animals. You get less use out of your $500 pads. You have more cooling problems with water and oil. Transfer cases are only really at their best the first 10 track days after a rebuild then they loosen up again. They really need 265/35/18s to handle the cars weight and clear the cars brakes. Launch with a bit of lock on and you will soon enough experience the joys of blowing the front diff. They are awesome cars and if i have about 80-90k i would build a weapon of a track GTR. I would love to. If i havd 50k i would go buy this in a heart beat. But they are just that little bit more expensive in most places, they are harder to work on. So makes my already limited ability to track my car even more limited. You can build a GTSt like sav mans which for far less and a std RB25 with a 3037 in it would make it a weapon of a car. As is with a 210rwkws RB20 it is likely to be quick enough That was Marlin. I would have rolled the car on the first stage....there is a good reason why i type crap on the net rather then actually enter events And if you want an S14 just buy this .... Have seen it run, its a nice car and quick because its well sorted. Still plenty of areas to develop but already a great base.
