I think the thing to remember is that gears are case hardened etc . So the elastic region isnt the main concern, its the shear strength of the gear that is causing failures How complex is the computer controlling the gearbox. Surely there is a torque limiting component to the software that can be used for fractions of a second on gearchanges to ensure that gearboxes hang in there when power goes through the roof and ORC etc start developing clutches for competition etc

I dont get it? What is wrong with 465rwkws? Good work man, fark everybody else...keep posting cool cars like this. I didnt even know that tyres and ramp rates hurts power etc ?!?!?! It didnt make the power it did on your dyno?!?! LOL, it still made a shit load of power....and who knows, all those hanging shit on the result? It could have been a bad day, if not...its a 465rwkw rwd GTT Who gives a shit if the whole dyno art means you need certain tyres or tuning for ramp rates to get a number. It got a big number with the tyres and tune it runs on the street! Anyway... -
Nope i am on a similar wavelength. I loved the guy when he was a fresh face, i dont really remember his race at Jordan though i was wathcing it. But when he went to Benetton i loved the guy. But after a few seasons it all started to turn ugly. And soon it wa all too much for me. I had very little time for the guy by the time he went to Ferrari, and the fact that i hated Irvine etc made it all too easy to hate Ferrari. Irvine is the most delusional F1 driver of recent time And also has to be one of the most fortunate to get the seats and the coverage the guy did...though he was a funny guy

So a club sprint rules out the car as you have a number on your window? Yet do a open practice day where the car seems more laps and track time is ok. COOL But its all BS anyway, it stresses the car has a performance wheel alignment etc etc yet put the car in an environment where it can be used and you void the warranty They should just use the data logger to ensure that revs, boost and warning sensors (temps) etc have not been exceeded in the use and subsequent damage to the car. But meh, it is all std issue stuff. No manufacturer truly sells a sports car that they will warranty for track work. I would love to know what they are going to sting you for the mandatory servicing.

Care to clarify? All i can remember is Hill was with Jordan and doing a quick search Hill was zigging on a wet track to keepo MS at bay....so i dont understand

Remove the rotor and check the face colour of the rotor, is the inner different to the outer. Its possible that you have trailing pistons in your caliper meaning that there is always pad contact and in turn heat input. When you get up it and give it some stick the rotor distorts due to the uneven heat distribution. But also, is it just simply a case of the use? I doubt it, but remember brakes like engines, gearobxes etc all like to be warmed up with a bit of heat put through them before you really get stuck into the braking. When you say the rotors are warped is anybody actually checking the runout of the rotor? Is it both fronts, only rears, only one particular rotor....which rotor/s is warping?

I can see what you are saying...i tend to agree with some of it. I am not as a rule a Massa fan. I agree he is damn lucky to have the seat he does....but he has shown that he can do the job on his day....and these days its his day more often. I still dont feel he deserves one of the four best seats in F1....but i can see him presenting a pretty good case for me being wrong I suppose the only thing i dont really see is the MS and Hamo thing. MS was hard bastard, but my recollection of the bloke was that he didnt chop blokes in the midfield who he was blasting by?!?!? Also i dont recall too many occassions where Schumi called fellow competitors names etc. But they are fine points. Funny thing is i loved MS in his early days, loathed the bloke in his middle years and respected what he had accomplished by end. I never really liked Alonso but respect immensely the tough racing between him and MS. At the moment Massa is the guy that is impressing me as he is making WDC Kimi who when at Mclaren many commented was the quickest guy in F1....look ordinary when he clearly isnt. Anyway...roll on this weekends GP to see who crumbles first

I would look at which one i could get the most money for and sell it and keep the other. The std cooler is meant to be a pretty good thing and on the circuit you always have plenty of airflow through it so heat soak isnt such a concern. That all said i suspect the Trust jobbie would do the job slightly better

Cool, the TD06 is a pretty good thing, but there are plenty ways to skin a cat and i am sure that there is a better setup out there somewhere...just need to find it

Between AD4M's trips to bizillion pounds of boost and trips to the drag strip, the drift guys belting of rev limiters and the abuse my car sees, i think you can say that if you keep an eye on the tune and water/oil temps then you can make a reliable 250rwkws from an RB20 with the right turbo. Remember, RB20 has lower compression then other RBs from the factory so personally dont think a head gasket is a smart investment. Good work on the feature AD4M, i binned my car at Sandown a few weeks before the planned shoot on my car last year. Still havent got the guard fixed so havent bothered to re-schedule. In a sense i am envious of your TD06 setup as the larger exhaust housing allowed you to run some funny levels of boost. Thankfully i had a quick chat with the tuner of my car before i did some damage, as i was getting close to maxing out my GTR injectors when i wound the boost up 22-23psi...so thought it was fuelling at the top end that was the problem when it pinged.... it seems its the fact that my back pressure through the tiny 8cm housing was what was causing the detonation at 8k in 4th gear . Seems about 19-20psi is the sweet spot for my car and the 8cm housing

Ball park figures... Turbo $2200. Remove, modify and re-fit your top mount manifold with correct 3 bolt flange will be about $400-600 including new gaskets. Then you will have to modify your dump pipe, water and oil lines, and intercooler piping so throw another $500 easy at it. I would think a 3071 with a 0.63 A/R exhaust housing is effectively a bolt on option. Hell even cheaper again would be to just try a smaller exhaust housing on your current turbo....first things first though you really need to find out eactly what turbo your currently have. There should be a tag on the centre cartridge that would help suss it out If i was in Vic i would let you take my car for a spin but am OS with work at present. Perhaps hunt down someone else running the TD06, it woudl be a shame to go to all that expense and find you were not happy. Isnt your motor a built motor? What compression did you end up with? Maybe one of SAu's turbo propellar heads can compare the size and trims of the wheels of the two respective turbos. The TD06 seems to work well on the RB20, but if the wheel sizes are about the same then you can expect the same ball park sort of performance. Have a chat with RE Customs, i am sure he has seen TD06 SR20s and he has a 3071 on his SR20 so may be able ot help you make in informed decision

Damn....the time could, in fact probably has merit. But i wouldnt be surprised if the test car had a trick ECU. I mean part of the R&D on the car would have been at elevated power and torque levesl to ensure durability of the driveline so would have been piss easy to run the car in that state of tune?!?! Either way, the ZR1 spanks both....GO RWD, 3 PEDALLED SEPPO POWER!

The thing with Massa that i like is that generally he seems like a nice enough guy and is usually all smiles. He has had some talent, but more then anything it seems his talent got him so far and that flat out hard work has bridged the gap. In his first year at Ferrari he was far closer to MS then Heikki has been to Lewis. In his first year at Ferrari he bagged wins on merit, poles etc. Whilst not a huge fan of Massa, i am beginning to respect him immensely with the way he has driven this year. Like other drivers he has been caught out by circumstances or made mistakes this year. But his racing is far improved. I mean his racing of Lewis on the first lap a few races ago...it was a damn good move and completely unexpected of Massa. His racing in the wet at Monza where he hwas hussling in the mid pack fighting for 6th position and carrying what is seemingly a difficult car in the wet. I think ppl are simply reading into the Kimi thing as him underperforming rather then Massa having improved. How many fastest laps has Kimi had this year? Hasnt he equalled the record of fastest laps in a season? The Ferrari is very fast in the right conditions but seems to have too small a setup window, whilst the McLaren seems to be far more flexible in its setup to conditions. Massa has proved to be able to pull qualifying laps together and get more from the car durings parts of the race where the car isnt in its sweet spot. I want to see Massa win the title because i think he has greatly improved and i like the fact that he is a worker and seemingly nice enough guy. If Lewis wins then you have to respect the fact that he has won the WDC in his second year, but he has had the luck on his side this year. But doesnt change the fact that he is a tool from what i read and hear. The complete lack of respect for his fellow competitors and the reckless way he drives! It deadset upsets me. I see a bloke like Zanardi have the drama he has had in his racing career, then i see an arrogant Hamilton doing reckless things in a racing car....well lets just hope we dont see a horrible accident courtesy of his brazen racing

Quick Sale. Needs To Be Gone By End Of Month
Roy replied to Roy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
RB25DE is still for sale, i have an interested party who is looking at a late October purchase...but at the minute it is still for sale. I would consider shipping but if its going to be to QLD then you would need to arrange a convenient time to collect from where it is being stored. Most likely a weekend as i dont wont ask the friend that has been good enough to store for me to take time off work to allow collection. For the cost of shipping a 100kg crate it could be worthwhile getting a one way ute or wagon hire and fly down and pay for the tanks of gas. Thats what i did to collect the motor from NSW Will do the lot for $750 (complete RB25DE and 25DET bottom end) for $750 to anyone that can come and collect it pain free from my friends place. -

I think the camshafts are sold. Just waiting for payment Here are some pics of the manifold. Didnt have time to take pictures of the engine. Manifold is in perfext working order with no cracks etc. I couldnt find the gasket for the gate, so its either in the box with all the paper for stuffing or missing -
LOL, but at least Porsche make money on the cars they sell. I have read that Nissan area actually losing money on the sale of R35 GTR and they hope that technology sharing with other models will help recover the costs of engineering the vehicle???? IF this is true then you cant complain too loudly about a manufacturer that actually wants to tuen a profit from its hero car

Well...i still like to masturbate manually

But hang on. Do we think Procshe is really going to come out and say something that cant be substantiated? The GTR has done damn well in all the road tests that i have read...but there could be some merit to Nissan tweaking the car a little for the sake of a few laps of the Burger Ring. I hope not....but i dont doubt it. Tyres are getting better, for sure....but the pace of cars like the ZR1, GTR etc...well they have all pulled some serious times out of the low volume supercars of late and i have been a bit curious as to how myself
