V8 Street Circuit At Homebush Approved
Roy replied to Black Widow's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Thats the other thing...street circuits are famous for one thing. Being crap for spectating. Even the best vanatge points typically only allow you to see two corners and a big screen tv....so there is no way they can complain about EC being bad for spectators. Anyway, will see how it goes...i love my motorsport but all i heard about when i was away was how the NSW Govt coffers were dry...schools, health, education....$15million is better spent on the same form of motorsport that already holds 3 rounds in the same state? -
But the bog thing re the night race was that Europeans didnt have to stay up to the middle of the night. LOL, now what i want to see is the TV stats for viewing and whether it was up on Malaysia, Japan, Aus etc?
-
Aston , Jag etc are also manualised Autos. My understanding is that you have dual clutch DSG, manual cars that have hydraulics for clutch activation (Ferrari etc) and then you have the autos which have a manual option with different degrees of success. Some bad, some really good

So what do you do with your left foot? Tap away pretending you are the drummer from Fear Factory?

Massa threw it away in Monza? He drove bloody well and fought hard in the mid part of the race pulling a few positions. What made that result so damn impressive is just hwo woeful the Ferrari is in the wet....thinks back to Silverstone where both drivers were throwing the car off the track every few laps. Melbourne was a poor result...lack of traction control? I think his only bad races were really Malaysia and Aus...the other races the car has a tendency to be easily as bad as other weekends where it is amazing. Anyway...Lewis fans should just go back to thinking the world is flat and that Lewis knew nothing of the data and Ferrari information from last year. I mean, the test driver knew all about it. The testing team/engineers, the other driver. Team Management knew about it...yet Lewis knew nothing of the teams activities, data and testing? Talk about McLaren trying to protect their golden boy. There is no way in this world that Lewis as a race driver for the team knew nothing of test data and information floating around the team. If there was testing info etc floating around that was in the hands of only Alonso and "his tet guys" (no way such a situation would exist) then Lewis would have been screaming preferential treatment to Alonso. The testing team/engineers work for the team and its drivers...not just Alonso. FARK McLaren playing the victim all the time and painting others as the bad guys. They get just as dirty as the other teams then take the moral high ground and assume that motorsport fans are just retarded enough to believe them I am not fussed about what happened last year. I am sure worse things have happened over the years...hell how do you quantify what Brawn, Todt, Schuey etc took to Ferrari with them from old Tom/Flavio? But it grinds when they play the victim and innocent party when they play the angles..."Nobody in the team knows of this Ferrari info"....."But Ron, we know you have it, here is our proof" .... "oh that Ferrari data, yeh but we didnt look at it, thats what i mean about not having it. I mean, we had it, we read and abosrobed it to the point where we know the data isnt applicable to our cars....we know because we tried....oops did i just say that? "

Send the V8s back to Mallala and free up NSW State Govt money for all the things that are falling apart nad need funding. NSW already has a round at Oran Park, Eastern Creek and BATHURST!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Poor old Irvine. Senna punched like a girl from what i understand
-
I am crook as a dog at present, from silly curry. I have to say the 380mm rotors are just big enough to sit cooly in the corner of the lounge room. Very cool looking things...and were relatively "cheap" like the birdy Just to find a cool V35 to put them on
-
But BS aside, MAssa was looking extremely good. Marching away from Lewis, who even if he could go a lap or three longer was not looking to great in the tyre dept. Masssa is the guy of 2008, who has lifted his game and doing the best job out there. He made a qoopsie at OZ GP, and didnt have a great British GP, but he seems to be ringing that cars neck. Out driving ad out qualifying Kimi...which everyone seems way too quick to claim he is off with the fairies if Massa is beating him...rather then considering that Massa is doing a bloody brilliant job in a car that suits his driving.
-
Dont be weak...if you are going to go 18" wheels just grab the 380mm brembop rotord with F50 calipers....BIG DADDY BRAKES!!!!!!!
-
They are similar to what yo uwill find on late model EVOs, and knowing what sort of power they make and TD06-20Gs which are bigger in the compressor (20g) and bigger in the turbine (TD06) then i suspect they will make about 230rwkws, perhaps 140rwkws depending on what engine its going on and the boost you want to run. I woudl think they woudl be a decent thing on an RB20, on an RB25 they woudl be very punchy but a bit choked up. Still thats all speculation

Project Gtst Gets There At Last

Good work! Looks great with wheels up off the line! -
Stoked to see Alonso back up there. He really has recovered well from his early season brain farts like at Monaco. Top win and deserving on pace. So this year with have had a STR on pace, BMW on pace, Renault on pace... Poor Massa, i missed the first round of pit stops with food poisoning. Was Massa lighter then Lamo?
-
Just give a 3071 a go, make sure it is running a 0.63 A/R housing. You may lose peak power but it will make for a quicker car
-
The lap when he stops for fuel will reveal all, but Massa seems confident at present and focussed on the WDC. Considering how tricky the circuit is and how even Webber couldnt get a good lap in Q2, neither could Lamo in Q2...i am not discounting that Massa just got it right....again! What will be interesting is how racey the guy with no balls will be from P3. I hope he shows as little respect for Lamo as he did for competitors the last race. Roll on what could be an interesting race and with that pit entry being what it is i can see plnety of jockying for position at critical moments of the race. COME ON MASSA...you talentless hack in teh 2nd best car takign it to the self proclaimed best i the game driving the best car
-
Fark Webber Woud have been great to see him knock Loiuse
-
Poor Alonso, the Renault was looking ok
-
Endless calipers? Have you looked at the price of pads and rotors? R34 GTT calipers are 4 pot and run a 310mm rotor, only catch is you hae to drill out your hub to bolt up the caliper. Shoudl be plenty of rotor for your GTS, or even stiuck with teh std caliper, grab some DBA 5000 GTR 324mm rotors and grab some adaptors tat allow you to run the rotor. Much more in line with the straighline performance and weight the car will have
-
Hate to say it DC, but good thing you are retiring. He shoudl have sat out this year with Klein given the call back, whether Klein or Vettel for the RBR or the STR drive>!>! But its obvious that DC just doesnt have the pace in him anymore Sad to see my man Bourdais nowhere as well
-
Could be an interesting quali. I wonder if Ferrari are going to run Kimi light? If i was them i would make sure he qualifies on pole, and then let Massa and Lewis make of p2 what they can. This way if Lewis qualis better then Massa then Kimi can keep him at bay. I say McLaren shoudl do the same with Heikki, but i doubt he could beat Lewis even with less fuel
-
Still, it is going to be an NA car, i expect lightend? So you will have about 200hp at the wheels if you are lucky. So i would suggest some R34 GTT brakes will work fine. Be careful using the term race car....i suspect your total budget will be doubled by the cost of race braks alone. Even if you go for premium stret brakes i suspect the 6-10k is more then tiy should spend considering the lap times the car will be doing

Bsm Gtr - Eastern Creek This Weekend
Roy replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
What sort of restrictors etc is the thing forced to run in SS regs? I imagine the little 2.6L with twin turbz, restrictors and all that weight is having a harding time in Sports Sedans. Top effort by the guys, will maybe sneal down there in the morning for a squizz as will be driving by on te way to see family -
Its funny, some seem to love it, some loathe it. I dont mind the track. I think its an absolute ball ache of a track to drive with some technical parts which will see a few drivers takign lots of kerb trying to get a run....still not convinced its going to present us with hopeless racing. I think there is hope yet Its a good track for watching the violent drivers like Kubz
