  1. Well, the next set of pads i am going to try are from Performance Friction. There are two compounds that i cant choose between. PFC 97 pads or 93. I have spoken to a few ppl now that rate them, especially with regards to all this tehno babble which means they are easy for a driver to modulate which is important for me as i am a hack under brakes and often flat spot RE55s, but also to do with wear of pad and rotor, they are about the best you can get. They are pricey, but they last and dont eat rotors. I am guessing the trade off is noise and dust If the Project U are as good as the Endless CCX without being hard on rotors then they would be a goer. I figure sometime you need to do a bit of experimentation to see what you like and what is good. But, i used to swap over pads for the same reason you sited, had some cheap things with plenty of wear on them etc. It wasnt that big a deal asi tried to bleed brakes a tad before track days as well. But these days the less i have to do before an event the less i can fark up
  2. Man, come drive in Hyderabad for a while. There is all sort of stuff you have to avoid and should be put on pace notes. It would be great practice.
  3. I have just the thing for your car to make that power. Internals are free, that is all i keep hearing from Tarmac rally guys
  4. They are your wheels now! The white looks great on the black! If it ever comes down south again we will have to swap seats. I have heaps of new gear to go on my car, which i hope mean i can abuse it at the track reliably for 6 hours, lol forget about 6 days You will probably love the power of mine compared to yours, but no doubt yours would win out package wise
  5. So what track pads are you looking at? I am going to try something other then the Endless gear, they were great but ate rotors
  6. I am not worried about Snowy I know James will be great, and they will be fine. But practice at a $50 event cant be a bad idea. I know when i am doing course checks i cant even read the damn notes with all the bumping etc..... so i have the fear of how hard it is to navigate at speed
  7. Awesome result. I imagine getting such a new car accross the line would have been a great result, let alone winning. Again....big congrats! Datsun build a pretty good car, and WA fellas seem to piliot them well, note i say pilot not driver
  8. If you grabbed that ARC off Tony then i will pay you what you paid +$50 for it Then you can get your water to air
  9. Podium was great. But he has had so many shockers since then...
  10. And Ben , see the new sig with the wheels. Any clearre pics? Are you happy with how they look?
  11. I am being sincere here. Rather then put the terra trip straight into the GTR, i suggest you throw it in the Lada or some other heap you dont care about and do a few navigational rallies with the HRA etc. Give James and you a good chance to build an understanding, James an idea of how to read notes/terra trip at speed (see if he throws up?...) etc and you they are cheap and easy to get into with little in the way of safety gear required for the car.
  12. Well, personally if i was to ever do this style of event it would be in a 160hp Escort with a shit load of cage. I service/crew at too many rallies to want anything quick or expensive, "stuff" happens and i imagine at the higher speeds of tarmac rallies they happen more frequently. Also re finishing. LOL, like i said i service and crew for a few people. I cant think of any of my mates tramping around helping to fix my car. I am usually the guy under other ppls cars helping them
  13. So, i love the guy to death, but please oh please can DC have one good weekend before he marches off to different pastures? Qualifying 6th to Webbers 7th woudl be great. And a top 5 finish to Webbers 5th or 6th will be enough for me. The curtains are about to close for the guy, surely he is massivaly motivated to get a good result. Hell even if he does a stupid low fuel qualifyign effort just to stuff around with the leaders then go really long middle stint. I dont care, come on DC, its killing me watch you race the Hondas and Force Indias
  14. NO, really? I mean? How do you know that? Dont bother using facts Duncan...the obvious answer will be "well the rules are wrong " Even Dennis admitted he asked the wrong person...but i have given up. Its a tough decision...but fark me McLaren have done themselves no favours at all. If ppl want to continue to paint Lewis/McLaren as the completely innocent victims then so be it. It was a tough call but there is substance and merit to the penalty. Perhaps McLaren are repeatingly being bitten by these sorts of things because they fail to admit their part in each affair. I mean without acceptance of a small portion of the blame they go on in their infallible ways...only for history to repeat (in a slightly different way) I dont think that is 100% but a part of it probably rings true. I am sure McLaren are looked at harder by the FIA then other teams. Thats more reason to be doing it right. But they need to look at what role they have played then ensure try not to put themselves in a similar situation. I have found if i have stuffed up at work i tell the head of the wrong department because i know he probably doesnt give a damn or know better...he will tell me its ok and i am in the clear. I would never tell my boss about the stuff up in case i hear something i dont want to hear...a grilling
  15. LOL, actually no. Sober at present Just getting dumber by the day. You did you say "With the addition of good tyres and these brakes I knocked 3 seconds off my previous pb at Wakie" LOL...sorry, just saying thats huge, but with swaybars in the mix as well it starts to paint a picture that makes more sense
  16. I have a CAMS Level 2 licence. I must say filling out the form wasnt too bad, but licking that stamp and envelope, then finding a post box... Phew, talk about hard work.
  17. If the sale falls through i certainly hope you give me the first option of buying it.
  18. Item: Work XD9 rims Age: near new Condition: Excellent Price: $1650 with 2 near new tyres and 2 worn tyres (though still legal). $1500 without tyres. $1400 with the small scuff mark on front right wheel from the second morning i drove the car No wheel damage, just chipped the paint off and intending to get the paint fixed, even though because of the wheel colour its hard to see the chipped paint To Fit: for my R32 GTSt, but will fit R32 GTR, R33 GTSt, etc etc Location: Southbank Victoria Contact: thread or PM Comments: These were previously for sale but poor timign meant the only serious buyers for the wheels came the weekend i left Aus. I will soon be back in Aus so these are back up for sale as i will be able to arrange removal from the car. I purchased these wheels because they were +30 offset rather then my old +35s and was hoping that they would clear the brakes i had laying in wait. Now have another set of wheels that a re guaranteed to fit any frigging brakes i try to run Please understand that these wheels will not be available for shipping or pick up until around the 24-25th September, and will not be for sale after about the 28th September as i am again heading OS
  19. Which ones are they?
  20. What you need to know is: Just about any aftermarket caliper on any rotor up to 365mm will fit inside them. If you run a 376mm rotor you may have trouble fitting all the good gear inside unless you have a specific caliper.
  21. Oh and i will add I didnt last 12 months as an offical (scrutineer) I hated it. Thelate night mid week before major events, the travel out of my own pocket and not seeing any of the action was only part of it. The biggest drawback was the politics and having to be the bad guy, not something that comes naturally to me. I was just glad i was only starting out and a grunt so the final say went to the Snr Scrut....but yes. Based on those brief experiences i tend to see things from their perspective as well, but doesnt always mean i agree with it. But the point of a full time team of stewards at F1 rounds, hell i just assumed that was the case? Guess its not
  22. I have some new Apexi titanium retainers? PM me if you are interested in buying new.
  23. Depending on what is done to the car then i dont see why you cant find a pad that will do both. Saves the expense and also the agro of changing them before an event
  24. So you are 2.5 seconds quicker on old slicks compared to relatively new semi slicks? That goes agaisnt the trend of typical time improvements for tyres. I suspect the RE55s were cactus as i would have thought a 250rwks R34 on RE55s would be quicker then 1:11s? Slap some new suspension in and decent RE55s and i suspect you will match/better then slick times!?!?!??!?!?!
  25. Thats awesome. You were quick before from memory, so you are into the 1:07s or something now? Though i have to ask, what tyres? Tyres are worth 2-3 seconds at Wakefield, so be interesting to see you run the same tyres as you used to and see if there is any difference in lap times at all. Thats not to take away from the fact that the car is much easier to stop and nicer to drive.
