Are there any track days on the weekend of the 27th and or 28th September?
-
Good to read you kept the car straight Ant!. Was there much damage to Matts car? I hope not. It will be great when he finally gets a clear run in that car. His luck is bound to change soon.

Having driven a few cars now with Teins, i cant see how anyone can write them off. You can say what you want about them technically being good, bad etc. Fact is they deliver good results and at a simple tweak of a knob you can some adjustment in the drivability. I used to have Bilsteins and Whiteline springs and i found them to be quite good and gave me years of reliable service. Build quality is exceptional. I have been running Teins for a bit and they are an improvement over the off the shelf Whiteline bits i was running. So, if you can wait for the Group Buy, then wait...plenty of people have been happy with their purchase. If you cant wait then grab some Aussie Super Streets. I think for the money they are the best shock you can get. But whichever way you go, dont just read and buy based on ppls thoughts. Post up in your states section, find out when the next meet/function is and go for a few rides in cars with suspension setups you are considering. There have been ppl not happy with the Whiteline stuff, some dont like the Teins etc. Its all very, very , VERY subjective.

I cracked an RDA rear rotor at Calder last year, was kind of scary until i caught on what was going. I didnt get the pulsing in the brake pedal like when i cracked the fronts...so took me a few laps to suss out what was going. On, my thoughts are basically RDA and DBA are all crap if you use your car semi regularly at the track with anything resembling a racey pad with good torque characteristics

Sux, i am flying back the weekend you guys get back I suppose i should be packing my gear into storage rather then a weekend in Thailand...but never know, my plans are on a daily cycle at present One request....nudy runs!

The engine may not be as great as some of the others, but at the European GP Webber had good top speed, along with the STR and Ferrari. So its obvious the RBR/STR is pretty good aerodynamically. The only thing is perhaps RBR had to run less wing for that top speed and in the corners/downforce wise they are struggling compared to STR and some of the others

I am running R33 Brembo rears!
-
I am in training for this. My guts will soon be able to soldier on through anything

Ok, so now we just have to find a nice 1 pce std sized rear rotor that uses curved vanes and is slotted/fish hooks etc. Stoptech dont make OE replacement rear rotors, Endless and Project U are all straght vane. DBA and RDA are shit! I think i may just end up getting some Endless rears unless someone knows the part number for the AP rotors. I know they exist, but nobody lists them. I suspect that perhaps they are N1 diameter so ???

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Roy replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I was planning on getting PF pads for the front and rear for my car. Would be running 332mm front rotors and 300mm rear on a GTSt. Not sure if i should use the Carbon Metallic or the . My thinking is i will have plenty of brakes under the car so aim was to go for a nice pad that isnt of such a high temp/torque rating that they are hard on rotors. Was looking at using the PFC 97 pads or 93 pads but wondering if you are able to make use of the more street orientated Carbon Metallic then perhaps the PFC97 is massive overkill??? People i speak to and trust rate them, including guys in race teams for their feel whilst being kind to rotors. So do you know which Carbon Metallic you use? -
R32 Gtr Brake Upgrade Advice
Roy replied to LotusGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Personally, you need to do stops from about 140km/h down to about 20km/h. Really get the heat into the pads and rotor and deposit that pad onto the rotor. Problem is 140km/h is speeding, so the idea of sayign Winton is too far ? Well the Winton track days are the ones where i try to line up a pad change as the drive up there is the perfect opportunity to do a crazy amount of stops from 110km/h to basically the speed where i can grab 1st gear again( 10-15km/h). Then cruise for 20mins and let he brakes cool down again, then jump on the bastards a few times more. Fact that you leave Melb at 5am means you get a pretty good run with traffic and can be left alone to do bed the pads. You cant do it on the drive to PI, Sandown etc. So you end uyp sacrificing your first session just bedding brakes. -
Looks the goods. Only...have you fogotten the most important part!!!!!! What will the pilots attire be?

In the early 3,000rpm it start to ramp onto boost. Depending on the tune, the mods, the gear you are in etc, expect 18psi by 4,500rpm at the absolute worst. More like about 4,200rpm i think Here is a plot of my turbo and a GT-RS on very similar RB20s. The revs may be a little bit out depending on tyre diam, but its looks about right, if not a bit optimistic

Yeh, i knew the ACR was a hotted up factory special. But even still that is crazy quick for anything coming from the factory. I would be scared to drive that thing sober, a few long necks should get me around the Burger Ring
-
So the fact that the R32 was released as as R32 GTS25 with an RB25DE doesnt allow you to run that engine. I am sure there are cars out there that have been built up from another spec of vehicle, GTR an dN1 comes to mind. So if you are allowed to go an NA RB25, throw a bucket load of compression, multi throddle bofdies and the thing would sound wild, great throttle response and make more power then you are making at the moment. Oh, but hand on, do NA engines have the same cam etc restrictions as forced induction?
-
Easy answer is throw on a Nissan RB25 wastegate actuator and get the boost down under control. Boost alone wont kill the engine, temperature alone wont. Revs alone wont and coolant and oil temps wont kill an engine alone. As others have pointed out, you are borderline on boost, and its the worse sort of boost in that the engine isnt working effeicently with effecient exhaust of combusted gases. Its choking on the gases. So combined with the bog revs and high coolant / oil temps you see drifting....like i said i would be getting the boost back down to 13psi. Then get the breathing on the engine sorted.

So NA can have a few ccs snuck in? Even so, i am betting an NA RB20 woudl be no bad thing. But the torque of the turbo engine is going to help on road rallies

Be interesting to hear what you think of th echange. I think you will find the roughness comes from the Bilstein shock more then the King springs you are running. The Whiteline spring will be near enough a similar spring rate, so i suspect its the shock. Also regarding springs beign compressive, don’t forget the springs compress a fair bit simply under the weight of the car so not sure how much gain is to be made from going to a progressive spring (if indeed that is a difference between the Kings and Whiteline springs) that are of about the same spring rate -
LOL. He has me beat, in fact he smashes my attempts! IS that thing std? Are the Yanks going that quick around there these days?
-
What are you allowed to do to the engine…having played with mine over the years I think I know which way I would go second time around
-
A lowly Supra would not get near the GTSt! Just strip more weight out of it since you cant throw more power at it.

Wrecking R32 Gtst W/ Rb25 Conversion
Roy replied to BHDave's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Do you have the gearbox corss member, custom tailshaft etc for the RB25 box into the R32 for sale? -
I dont have a problem with team orders when its common sense and a particular car needs the result more then the other. But it annoys me when it does nothing championship wise, and purely because of post race blow jobs one driver is instructed to move over. Its like if Fisi was leading the next race and he was told to pull over for Sutil. That would be a corck of shit, or Nakajima for Rosberg. So far this year, the Kubey/HEidfeld was smart, the Lewis/Heikki smart. Thats teamwork. But yeh...DC shoudl never have taken it all on board so sportingly
-
I clearly remember DC beign told to move over for Mika two GPS in a row. Mika had never won a GP at this point, DC had. In fact he had won McLarens first GP in ages for the team. Yet he was asked to move over for Mika. He did, Mika won his first GP. That was the last race of the season. Next race in Melb, new season ... and Mika had a stuff up in the pits so lost the lead to DC. How many times had DC had problems in the pits etc in his career and Mika was never told to surrender the place back to DC??? SO DC again moved over for Mika, why? He is a nice bloke and a team player. But that was the end of DC and the day i began to loathe McLaren. So...they are all guilty. Williams were always pretty, have a go, just dont take each other out.
