  1. What is the amp doing ? Lights blinking ?? Does the sub move free with amp off or feel like it grinds when pushed smooth and gentle ? Amp blue trigger wire crossed with power wire ? Which is why its stuck on or below Those kicker amps had issues and failed a fair bit but water entry is instant problem on any amp And the short is internal
  2. Remove the battery terminals and use a twist brush on it , and terminals inside , contact cleaner wont do crap to those Pull the fuses one at a time and check for corrosion or dull grey blades a rub of superfine grit sandpaper on each leg and pop back in , not grind it off but just shine it and put back in , if you have any dodgy wiring taps they need to go on any item check the 4ga and small wire that runs to starter as well they get disgusting filth and cause issues Lots of wires look fine but fail , so a physical wiggle test is required on some If the car has alarm ( under warranty let installer look at it ) not warranty pull off clamshell surround on ignition and recheck while wiggling the wires going into key barrel , go easy or sparks could fly!! But save that for last
  3. Thats nothing , I pull 600amps + thru 2 x0gauge not including the car pull all on 80amp alternator And massive lighting , security draw while parked Yes its only a matter of time before the diodes give up , but I have a few spares to send off for rewind to 140- 160amps inside the case. The 34 uses internal cooling fins instead of the external ones and smaller frame it depends how long you drive after pulling it down , a bunch of short trips you need upgrades , long trips plenty of time to recharge You wont drive with everything on often unless your doing offroad rally at night ? The old r31 is a friggan nightmare of bad grounds behind the battery and headlights and fuel pump
  4. The engine failures happen often at no load My old A12 broke a cam cruising at 60 no load 4g63 gutted itself just off idle pulling out of maccas , broke the internal balancer and it ate the block from less then 2000rpm I would doubt your block crack happened out of the blue , maybe a casting fault ? Or brittle casting I would get the blue dye and maybe spend a bit on investigating why it cracked " the famous block" it may sound strange but there is a reason people use seasoned blocks they tend to be a better build platform then a new block Anyway another option a place in adelaide ( bullet cyl heads) says they can cast rb30 blocks with sleeves in alloy per your specs ( like the R35 engines ) I spoke to the guy but the cost was out of my budget 17k bare block but it looked sexy shiny and smoothe But for the power a 2j or ls6 is a cheaper fix the rb 25-26 design Is a good engine but I know when mine blows up its rb34 time , rb30 block with spool stroker kit The rb lacks torque stock anyway Best of luck sounds like expensive mess
  5. 80 amps max on Gtt You can get a place near marion to rewind it not many places around rewind them anymore , or buy one from usa up to 300amps for $$$$
  6. Yes water humidity can be a issue Really its not the speakers the door slam just shakes the car , bet if you open hand slap the car near the drivers door it does the same thing Or a light tap on the dash or surround on the key? check all battery connections after you clean them for tightness ,fuse box to battery connection and if the car has alarm I would suss the connections on the starter relay ( the ignition uses multiple power paths ) are loose or even a worn key / ignition barrel from a heavy keyring ? Try a new key if you have one ? the fact its worse when its wet leads to a battery connection problem most likely or even a dead cell starting to play up those are the places to look first The circuit issue is between the key and battery but which item
  7. Dish soap strips wax !! cleans the car filth but dulls the wax job Armour all !! Really who uses that crap on anything ? same as kitten ? A paint job costs a mint in oz and you want to save a few bucks ? price a paint job that will change your mind Never use a sponge !! It traps dirt and saves it for scratching , microfiber towls rinsed out often and washed after each use " without fab softener !" It causes smears
  8. Car audio ones are best ! Check around they make small fuse models that are tiny now? just make sure you can buy the fuses in correct rating , the mini anl fuses are hard to find in lower ratings in oz You can get mini fuses in 4-16 output / input and they have a cover and some have volt gauge and amp gauge built in ( senses engine start and turns on and off so it wont drain battery)
  9. Turbo gasket leak or intake They would have removed it to get the clutch out Find a better mechanic !!
  10. No it wont eat the head unless its left beyond date or km to change Do not mix with any other brands or levels of protection that causes "eating away " Do not use tap water ever !! unless your stranded then dump asap the aussie tap water is harsh on alloy etc, distilled water Do not water down the mix it should be about 50 /50 or premixed if you add redline water wetter or motul cool it helps the heat transfer If you add any stop leak get it flushed out asap after you get home ground ( engine) upgrades can help the process keeping corrosion away strange as it sounds and helps with spark, charging etc never run water only unless its just to get it home its a high performance engine so use a decent brand and grade of coolant Service regular The tech-alloy is fine Green or red Prestone from usa is great stuff as well Motul Nissan And a few random brands just never mix them!!
  11. Go see brett at phatt audio concepts in braeside They did the r34 for just cars give away and a few other large installs in 34's tell em troy sent ya for possible deals Alpine new series is vastly better then kicker actually a lot more brands are better then either But require more thought to install right you can run a whole system off a 2 channel amp , a 5 channel, 6 channel 4 channel Or a pair of two channels A two channel and a mono block A pair of 4 channels A 4 channel and a mono block It really depends on the installers knowledge and your budget ,goals Its beyond a chain store setup See brett you'll be happy plus they guys are a hoot
  12. From a electronics basis , all of the coil packs are similar , any aftermarket one will have a bit more spark then factory but most are exactly the same internally and the laminated windings are the same thickness , so any brand update the grounds to the coils and clean up mounting area improves life and power I have a daisy chained 4 ga ground and that stopped mis fires on splitfire using iridium's So for a daily any brand , just watch out you need the ones for neo gtt on r34 they dont interchange
  13. If you got more then a satin texture its not the right paint ? And you can always satin or gloss clear it to get rid of the physical texture but retain the background metal look ? just a thought ?
  14. I have splitfire but one failed at a year and they refused warranty , i got offered a group buy of red superspark type for about 300 a set ? Splitfires vary between450-600 for gtt The best option MSD chevy ls truck coils and some mods to run leads to sparkplugs , cheaper , way more power , dependable long term Drawbacks a lot more work to setup Room to put the 6 coilpacks besides on top of cover , even a a dual pack like a 6 cyl commo uses takes room Overkill unless your boosting it up a fair bit Damn msd should make replacements grrrrrr
  15. Coilpacks failing Or tcs is Seems to be the end of life for r34 gtt tcs i know of at least 5 failures in the past months including mine Some say coilpacks but mine had been replaced with shitfires ( no better then any other brand and cost a butt load) Ended up the tcs was sensing slip and confused the abs as well , cheaper to grab a used tcs complete off a wreck , they seem to be not happy for rebuild once removed the switch fails Auto gtt work fine on 5 spd 5 spd wont work on auto need extra plug that 5 spds dont have , many years have many part # they changed parts a lot from 98-2002 so pointless to find exact part # Nissan is a goldmine cost wise for that part Buy a gasket for throttlebody and expect to have to order it from japan nissan has few if any In Country , do it fast yours is close to leaving you stranded with only 2000 rpm available max Reset the ecu afterwards and reset tps it will be off a bit dont waste a bunch of cash chasing codes because its not the fix , check coils but money is on tcs failure imminent Google sau its been covered a bunch lately
  16. My guess Momentary closed
  17. Thats a write off You cant fart on the car without the damage exceeding the cars wholesale value On a good note that looks like easy fix it was a pretty square hit so the unibody wouldnt be to far twisted , buy it back and redo it even better!!
  18. Thanks , but you dont need too do that even but maybe they can find it that way ?? if not maybe paint it neon yellow and flashing leds! Serious its not hard to see
  19. Do not run cable across the car stay on the battery side , its bad practice and creates Resistance , plus turbo heat melts wires And it would take another meter or more wire $$ At this point if you cant see the hole and how to run it , go see a pro ,every car has ten ways to get cable into the car , another choice is under the car but that requires a lot of safety considerations and more cash to protect the car and wire from damage there is a good video on wire protection on the worlds highest scoring car audio comp truck shows the right way to run under a car when you have endless cash ( do not run under the car without watching how and following the same principal idea skylines have a lot of pinch points to avoid) It passes thru piss easy its only fussy inside the car because 0 ga is so thick you have to make 100% sure its secure or it will pop up while driving Or annoy you with a lump in the carpet !!
  20. Was it wrecked ? Notice one of the local wreckers has one wrecked in the front passenger side that looks very similar but different wheels??
  21. dude its a crappy iphone nothing is simpleSee the blue plate See the cadmium plated ( goldish) bracket with a ten mm bolt next to the grey plug ? Unbolt that 10mm bolt tip the bracket out as far as you can and look down there is a hole in the chassis about 100mm in diameter with upside down grommet when you poke your fingers in the hole you will feel it Get a fish tape or heavy coat hanger with a pre bent arc , slit the grommet big enough for a tight fit , spay with silicone , cut 0 ga on a single angle , tape to fish tape so all copper is covered and a bit further back better too much then not enough Once silicone hits it you wont get tape to stick again Spray the wire with a rag behind your spray , smear it up and down the wire you may need to do that a few times Feed wire from engine bay towards back Fuse it and connect after its finalized in boot 0 gauge can handle aprox 300 amps max for short time , less on hot days , CCA wire less (Copper clad alloy) remember if that thing arcs without a fuse ( even with one its still going to throw a huge spark before it blows a fuse ) its going to possibly catch the car on fire !!!! so use care !! tie it down etc If it hit a metal fuel line instant fire , it will arc right thru the line like a welder Do not pinch it or coil up the extra wire under carpets , get it set up the way you want and cut off the rest , never splice it back together its bad practice and creates a resistance expect new AGM battery And new high output terminals to match That factory battery will be toast with a big amp And those factory terminals suck balls and restrict battery options Update the ground to engine and frame 0 ga to frame 4 gauge to alternator bracket bolt At the least
  22. You could always use a carcoon http://www.carcoon.com.au/
  23. Try the hole in body in the corner under the bracket , if you slit it and run a fish tape it comes out above the fuse block inside Take off the trim so you can fish it out and guide it away from ( below ) fuse block and gas pedal
  24. Airsaw Sawzall Dremel Grinder Just cut off or grind the heads off pop off the reo and vise grip the rest out after soaking. In wd40 for a while
  25. S2 late year 2000 34 gtt , 37,000 k , sunroof Non smoker one owner in japan car 5 years ago Some expensive mods and wheels Spotless car auction grade 4+ when purchased $34,000 complied and rego After gfc they fell thru the floor cost wise Now see prices going back up slightly for good examples going to be my coffin never sell it lol Maybe buy a 34 gtr or 35 but keep the gtt as well Nismo model R35 2013 mmmm instant racecar
