  1. In race one the safety car got scrambled - just not infront of the race leader as is preferred & usual. Toddler overtook the safety car & got a drive through because of it. You need a micrometer to measure Larry's fuse when it comes to CAMS & so he gave them a spray.
  2. Well all you can do is live in hope that Ron Dennis will get tired of seeing Kovi trail around behind everyone else & that Mercedes Benz have forgiven Webber from the last time he drove for them. Then add two & two & get about 15...
  3. Put some grease on the anti roll bar bushes.
  4. The points system has been changed more times than you can poke a stick at. It used to be that you only counted your 6 best results from the year. Which suited things better when cars were chronically unreliable & teams/drivers did not necessarilly enter all events. In 1965 Jim Clark won the WDC with 6 wins out of ten rounds - although he missed Monaco because it clashed with the Indy 500 - which he won. In the 80"s it was 11 out of 16 with points only down to 6th place 9-6-4-3-2-1. It slowly evolved to the current system whereby all races are counted & you get points down to 8th. The major driving factor behind this was the increased reliability of the cars (DNF's are much less common than they once were). It means the smaller teams get to score more points more often. That the WDC is more likely to go into the final round unresolved keeps peoples interest up.
  5. On the up side atleast the haters are maintaining a sense of perspective...
  6. Just so you know the front camber arms are Cusco. How long are they as they come in different lengths?
  7. The wing was designed to allow the car behind to maintain its aero effectiveness. Somehow whomever did the wind tunnel/CFD work on them came up with a wing that was tall but narrow. Oh and ghey. Still here is hoping the cars will look like proper racing cars on slicks & with some trackwidth returned to them. It is amazing how quickly you get used to looking at badly proportioned cars.
  8. To be honest I would try somewhere a bit more solid than an exhaust place. You don't want some muppet with a mig running amock. See if you can't find somewhere who does automotive work & will either tig weld it or will get someone who can. Also remember that welding = burnt paint so you will have to get that fixed up afterwards anyway.
  9. Well if you think about it the other end is attached to the wheel hub so it is going to have to articulate.... Anyway here is a grotty photo with a HICAS stopper installed.
  10. The AP stuff may or may not include a clearance ie calliper + 6mm. You need the clearaace for three reasons: 1: Rims distort when you are cornering. 2: You can get small stones stuck between the calliper & the inside of the rim which will grind the fk out of them. 3: On the track you get bits of rubber picked up & melted onto the inside of the rim. Which can & do catch fire if they end up near the calliper when you park up. Anyway if you can find someone ith a 17" Volk (Mine haven't arrived yet so I cant help, sorry) it is easy to check.
  11. Sorry I missed some stuff. Are you running AP 6 pots? IF so there are templates here: http://www.apracing.com/info/index.asp?section=Nissan_1054 To allow you to check for fitment.
  12. Most 17" good rims have an inside diameter of approximately 400mm. The 432mm you have listed is not the amount of brake clearance you have available.
  13. What the bloke from Queensland Transport has written in the email is both sensible & straight forward. What he is saying is that if you remove some metal from the guard liner, say a 80mm diameter hole then you should weld in (Or bolt in) an equivalent or larger amount of metal around the hole to compensate. This usually takes the form of a ring with say an 80mm inside diameter & maybe something like a 130mm outside diameter. Unsurprisingly it is known as a compensation plate & is universal engineering practice on things far more highly stressed & critical than guard liners. By installing such a plate you have done what you can to ensure the strength of the panel is not affected by the penetration. The key question is: Does you car have a compensation plate welded in? Because if not it would not appear to comply with what Billy Gallagher has written. Your best chance of not getting further hassled by the police is to either remove the modification, follow the procedures as described by Queensland transport or have sufficient paperwork with you to demonstrate to the police that the car ocmplies.
  14. This may amuse. It compares the pad from a Brembo F40 calliper to that from a Sumitomo calliper. Understand that the AP 6 pot calliper runs a pad that is another half inch longer (13mm for the metricated folk) & that it is about the same depth. Pad area looks to be 20% greater which will no doubt help temps. Sorry for the blurriness. Another random thought: According to the fan affinity laws (look it up ) the relationship between an increase in rotor diameter and an increase in airflow through the rotor is cubic, ie double the rotor diameter = 8 times the airflow. So a 296 to 324 upgrade will give approx 30% more airflow. Just somethign to keep in mind when you start stressing about vanes....
  15. Shell did not cut ties with DJR. After many years (near on 20) they, for corporate reasons, no longer wanted to be the major sponsor. DJR still carry Shell signage & are supported by Shell, albeit in a minor capacity. The dodgy fkrs who caused the trouble were Westpoint. DJR (& a heap of others) got done over by this lot. It left them to largely self finance their operations for a year (With money from V8 Telecom & Firstrock mortgages) which caused alot of problems, not withstanding the problems directly attributable to Westpoint. Dick had to sell alot of his assets to keep things on a half reasonable basis. Anyway they look to be on the up with new money from a 50% stakeholder, Jim Beam signed up as a major sponsor for the next 3 years & James Courtney to drive for them next year. FG chassis' will be by 888.
  16. Also try Birkin. They make really nice 7's. http://www.birkindirect.com/models.aspx Also depending how large you are keep in mind the fact that the original 7's were small. Too small for my lard arse for example but there are stretch & widened options available.
  17. Grease grooves are not hard to cut into the bushes. Fix that & the problem should go away.
  18. AFAIK it has not been confirmed. Davo may well end up at HRT/HSVDT but Courtney is onboard with DJR. Jim Beam have also re-signed. With new chassis coming out of 888 DJR should be looking better than they have in a long time.
  19. DBA site has all the rotor dimensions for the Nissans.
  20. So can I fit 20 x 12" rims with a -50mm offset on my R32 with 185/40 tyres stretched over them?
  21. Actually the thing that annoys me most is when people do help out, do answer questions & then the original poster cbf'd making the effort to confirm the suggested fix worked or otherwise. Leaving the poor bloke searching the thread at a later stage none the wiser.
  22. Stop smoking crack you two. Any gear box will multiply torque when it is not in fourth, ie 1:1 ratio. That is what its job is. You cannot multiply power, however. Power = torque x rpm. So relative to the input side of the gearbox on the output side you get more torque for less speed. Same power minus some small losses. A lower diff ratio (or gear) allows the engine to make more power (Up to its maximum putput after which it obviously starts declining) and therefore get it to the rear wheels. IMHO, put simplistically the test for a turbo Rb26 should be two things: How much peak rwhp. How much rwhp is generated at 4000rpm. As for using a bigger turbo for lower output temps that is doing the right thing via the wrong mechanism. To lower the compressor outlet temps you should use a more efficient turbo which is not necessarilly the same as a bigger one. Compare, for example the "Group A" compressor map to a dash 5.
  23. Churn through this lot: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Re...;hl=rebuild+r32
  24. Well I for one (probably the only one given the amount of hate on these forums for Hamilton) hope that McLaren can secure a drivers championship. Not sure why anyone would watch sport willing someone to fail. Oh and Mercedes said the motor in Lewis' car is fine.
  25. 33 suspension... Guess the question needs to be asked: What is it you are trying to achieve?
