  1. Hmm, i didn't think ford actually took up the offer on that government loan, that they were still going it on their own?
  2. Every day when i walked home from school i was always worried that something like that would happen. (well, that or a car crash that went off the side of the road) Probably didn't do the wheel nuts up right. The same thing happened to my dad as he was towing a trailer one day, wheel came off it. wobbled for about 5 seconds, then started rolling forwards, from what i can remember (was 6-7 at the time). Luckily it didn't hit a pedestrian. It did hit a fence with a fair bit of force though.
  3. Wasn't there some workshop on here who had one as their show car?
  4. Personally, i wouldn't put a Rb into an old z car. Firstly: it just doesn't have that great old sound that the L series engine has. Secondly: Its been done before (though rb25 is more common). A turbo'd L series engine, on the other hand, is much rarer
  5. What they did? in a nutshell, big turbo, big cams and high boost.
  6. Oh yes, i agree with all that, what i don't like is the whole "p platers are so horrible, but Anyone who has an open license must be 10 times better!" attitude. everyone under the age of 30ish was a P plater once. A persons level of maturity doesn't automatically go up the instant they walk out of the transport department office with an open licence in hand. Idiot P plater drives are idiot drivers. Idiot open licence drivers are also idiot drivers. The type of licence you have doesn't come into it. Also fail to see how people are going to become experienced driving a high powered vehicle if they can't actually drive one when they think of themselves as still learning. They'll just crash on their first drive in one at 20 years old instead of 17.
  7. Should revive the Fairlady line of cars if its going to look like that (after all, silvia's started with Fairlady's waaay back in the 60's) For reference, i don't mean the z cars, i mean these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datsun_Fairlady
  8. Had a mate who reckoned that he "couldn't have possibly got to 80..." when he was going down a hill after a set of lights. He was doing 81, which was 21 over the limit so he lost his license (P plater). My advice: cars will go surprisingly fast down a hill.
  9. Wow, bloody nice. just goes to show how much potential the N1 turbo's have.
  10. Sigh. My "not all p platers are idiot drivers" campaign is going horribly. thanks mate.
  11. Wouldn't you get in the shit with the cops anyway if you had an un-engineered motor in your car and got pulled over for an inspection?
  12. Exactly. Sure, you might think "ohh, a freak blowout at 100km/h will still cause me to crash". But odds are you won't die in that crash. Besides, you probably have an even greater advantage against the F6 on a twisty track
  13. Some might say that that's better than loosing your license before your out of second...
  14. Pretty sure they replace the wheel with a steel one when they do a highflow? (correct me if i'm wrong please)
  15. To be honest, i'd say the majority of datsun 1200's and 1600's i see around here have some kind of SR/CA/FJ turbo engine conversion in them.
  16. The reason GM is having such a hard time right now is that they've manufactured waaay to much stock. Last i heard they have 700000 cars in storage right now.
  17. Its for a Silvia mate, so i'm 95% sure its for 2wd.
  18. 1200's used a 4cly engine, whereas the zed's used a 6, which saves a lot of fabrication putting the engine in.
  19. Yeah, the driver in the Nissan Ute might have got whiplash or somesuch if they didn't have a headrest.
  20. For straight line performance, I'd get an early 60's Nissan Cedric station wagon. They've got a gigantic engine bay, you could probably fit a jaguar V12 in one if you wanted. Or pretty much anything else (provided you could engineer new engine mounts). I'd probably even restore it (sure, it might be shiny, but its still a early 60's station wagon...), and perhaps a low key set of wider wheels.
  21. I love'd the quote that MrYutaka Katayama said, in 1969, "The 240Z represents the imaginative sprit of Nissan. It meets all the requirements of sports-minded drivers, fulfilling their desire for superb styling, power and safety, and provides them with the most thrilling and enjoyable ride available in any car." Despite the fact that a datsun fairlady 2000's had been around for about 4 years, datsun fairlady's that could probably out perform one of those new zed's Or: "If you have followed the history of the Z, you will know that from the original 240Z, subsequent models morphed into grand tourers and away from its focused, sports’ car roots." I'd say that the original 240z itself was a grand tourer. Anyway, Guess that's what marketing is . Looks like the 370z is going to be quite a nice car to drive. And expensive at 70000AUD. The document is interesting, thanks for the upload.
  22. I'd say that because he was more careful he put the BoV on....
