  1. Hmmm, lets see; 1; Small ceramic wheeled turbo pushing 12-14psi in a 1700kg car; Check. 2; Hugely restrictive factory dump pipe, and 2 catalytic converters to further restrict the exhaust and overheat aforementioned ceramic exhaust wheel; Check. 3; BB core that is susceptible to damage through questionable servicing, and extreme heat (see point 2); Check. Result; Yeah; it's not rocket surgery, people aren't "Flogging" them as such (not really sure how you could possibly give it a harder time anyway; it spins at 100,000+ rpm, and is subjected to repeated heat cycling up to 800ish deg) but they do a lot of work.
  2. And you were following close behind Alex just like I was. Coincidence?
  3. Because it was still a huge improvement over the stock piece, and I knew it would fit through the gap left by the stock piece. A 3" version will not fit through that gap, and requires a 3" to 2.5" reducer off the flange, along with being much more problematic to route due to it's much larger diameter. Standard mandrels are not tight enough to use; so you must either cut them tighter, or "Lobster Back" straight tube into tighter bends. To fit the equivalent of 3" cross sectional area through there; would require fabricating a 2.5" version, then splitting it through multiple planes, then filling the gaps with sheetmetal and purge welding all over again. A lot of labour; a lot of cost. So it wasn't going to be a simple afternoon's work. Avoiding the AFM cut was a rather happy coincidence; I didn't really want to trip over it, because I can't tune around it yet, and I'm almost at the limit of my injectors. Sometimes you're lucky; sometimes you ain't. This time I was.
  4. Ok mate; yeah it's not too complicated to reproduce in a jig, looks like I might have to fine tune it a little if there's a few to make. It does use the rubber pipe; but it doesn't have to. I just needed the bottom section first up. I'm going to make the top part, then see how it goes. Yours uses that extra diameter effectively as a "plenum" for the turbo, which has a couple of benefits; not the least of which is a big improvement in response.
  5. I'm happy to come around & apply the "mark" for mine; it's no trouble...
  6. I blame Alex.
  7. Hey Leon, I have some good news regarding your oil leak mate; check PM's I'm a little reluctant, as I will not take money out of Scotty's pocket on this one. If Scotty is ok with it; I may look at it. The other issue is as Scotty has said; this one will not support maximum power, and you'll need to start again if you want to shoot higher than the 240odd kW mark.
  8. OK update; Apologies for the delays everyone, but I'm getting very close to finished on these. I'm hoping to have everything buttoned up and in the post early next week. If anyone has any concerns; please PM me. Thanks for your ongoing patience.
  9. Yeah, 2.5" mandrel bends. Much smoother inside than the factory piece. Lol, a bit; it was mostly having no car and having to ride everywhere that's been the biggest delay. They'll be going out early next week.
  10. Cheers mate, I can find out & get back to you. I didn't, because I ended up just using a socket headed M8 bolt. The way I oriented the pipe; it's possible, and fairly easy to locate & tighten the bolt with a ball end allen key. I just hook a small spanner over the short end of the allen key to tighten it at the end. I had the pipe on & off several times (was a bit tired & forgot to reconnect the water lines) and it's pretty easy to access, but if I was to make another, I'd index the bend a little lower to give a bit straighter shot at the bolt.
  11. I live not too far from GW head office in the 'Riff. You pay for it, & they make you go and get it of the racking in their warehouse... Worth it.
  12. Finally, the pics of my suction pipe. Firstly, excuse the first pic; this is not the usual standard of my welding. Issues with the TIG at my mates workshop, resulted in oxidised weld beads, and I ended up having to MIG the Blow Off return into position. Internally the pipe was purged, so it's immaculate. Pics of the pipe after coating; the ugly welds are not visible; but I still know they're there... The two pipes side by side; doesn't really give much of an idea how much larger internally, and better flowing the new one is; because externally, they're almost the same size. And in it's new home; possibly never to be seen again... No comparison times as yet, but I'm very pleased with the end result, and it sounds great coming on boost now.
  13. +1; and a bit of patience. Finished mine only a week or so ago, how mechanically inclined are you? Do you have access to a hoist?
  14. Someone needs to grab those!
  15. Well, around $1200. http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=19203&cat=&page=1 There was another place doing them slightly cheaper, but I can't remember who. No worries at all re; loan, perfectly understandable. I don't think R33 shocks would fit at all; they're a fairly long shock with a coilover spring, whereas the Stagea uses a fairly short shock and separate spring.
  16. That looks amazing under the lights! How many times do you turn and look back as you walk away?
  17. Really? Soaps you say? I have some soaps at home; one has a rope hanging out of it, and the other one is in the shape of a teddy bear. Would either of these be ok to use use if I contract a professional detailer to do the work for me? I'm really into promoting the economy...
  18. No doubt, I'm just having a little sook. This M35 owner would just like moar moneyz...
  19. Awesome; I'll join the queue for $1000 programmable ECU/tune packages! On my NM35 it's errr; Expensive?
  20. Front pads are 350z touring pads. Rears are X-Trail. I have part numbers at home; but get in touch with GSL Rallysport, as others have said. I'd be careful naming anyone; it exposes SAU to potential legal issues; and your thread will either be edited, or locked. They aren't an easily available "off the shelf shock" ; I reckon you'd be better off looking at a set of BC BR coilovers. For $1200ish you won't buy better, and you can get them to ride quite nicely. If you need a set of rear shocks in the short term; I have a set you are welcome to borrow, but I'm located in Sydney.
  21. Under 2 grand? I need you to do some shopping for me.
  22. AWESOME! I'm stoked that there were some full shots of mine! In the article there was a corner here, and a wheel there; the last day has revealed some brilliant shots; and not just of mine! I'm pretty amazed Matt got as many shots as he did, given the conditions.
  23. I'm pretty sure Ben moved it on to free up some capital for his business; I don't believe he really wanted to get rid of it. Who knows with the current owner?
  24. I've got a black standard bumper in Sydney if you're interested. Bar is undamaged, but paint is stonechipped. PM if you like.
